If u keep the match fixing scandal aside as a batsman he was just class. I felt very sad the way his beautiful cricketing career ended. He was on his way to become an all time great.

He was my favorite cricketer and i watched most of his innings live, earlier he was a slow player but suddenly he started hitting , his running between the wicket style was unique , he was very quick as well as slow too , he runs according to shot pace and fielders approach . His fielding was outstanding . but some times he throw his wicket very casually . his batting style still unmatched . except Lara and VVS Laxman no one is close to him when talk about wrist game.

When I stared watching cricket, Azhar was the Indian captain. I've seen some scintillating knocks by him. Every time he came to the crease, it felt he would carry the hopes of India across the line. Sadly, his team only had a few good match winners. He was the best fielder in the world at that time, never seen him miss the wickets on a throw. He was a true professional. I don't know if the match fixing thing is right or wrong, nothing has been proved. He truly is an Indian cricketing icon.
