I don't see any retirement/investing channels talk about umbrella insurance. I accidentally learned how important these are if you have a decent amount in a taxable account. I think it might make a pretty good video topic.
There are honest firms out there but 95% of them are to be avoided. The trouble is finding one that your spouse can use when you are gone. Better that you do the research and start a relationship than have your spouse venture into it on her own. Hence why Rob is looking for a firm to use. I did it DIY for 40 years ... now using an honest, low cost flat fee / hourly advisor that uses index funds like I have invested for many years.
@@anthonygoczalk5009 95% for sure... I am an attorney (former prosecutor) and I also do NOT trust 95% of attorneys... People just do not realize what "lambs to the slaughter" they are ! Same with Doctors, had them in the family, know way too much.... People just have NO IDEA how much they cannot trust "professionals..."
Rob- good show as always! As an fyi, I also have been working with Mark Zoril for over a year now (based on your mentioning him a couple years ago). I’ve found him to be a very good option for a DIY like myself, & I’m very comfortable with his very ‘candid’ feedback on my portfolio. If I get hit by bus tomorrow, I’m leaning towards directing my wife to discuss options with Mark…one of the few professionals I’ve trusted…and his business model seems to remove the conflict of interest all advisors have. Thx for recommending him!
Tax guest idea: I subscribe to a RUclips channel called "Safeguard Wealth Management" I don't know the name of the man who presents the videos there, but many of those videos discuss tax strategies and tax considerations in retirement. I have found them very insightful, and he is not at all shy of covering these tax-related topics even though his company is about financial planning in general. I think he would make a great tax expert guest on your show.
The cash management acct is good in theory. I just prefer to have my “ expenses “ in a regular ole checking account at my credit union. And all investment cash in Ira and brokerage . Plus I don’t want to log in everyday to check my checking acct and see an ira down 20k
I would like to hear your thoughts about Right Capilal vs Boldin. I have access to RC through a fee only financial planner and I am a BOLDIN subscriber. Trying to decide which to commit to. I don't need both. RC seems to be more sophisticated but maybe not as DIY friendly.
I also have access to Right Capital through an advisor I used years ago and I like it alot! If I ever lost access, do you think Boldin has as good a simulation for Roth Conversions as Right Capital? Do you think the UI transition to Boldin would be difficult compared to RC?
I really wish I knew about advisors like Mark Zoril 4 years ago. I really got taken to the cleaners by a Fidelity Wealth Advisor with AUM. And the quality of the advisor and management of my assets was terrible. Yet these crooks are protected because you sign some disclosure you didn’t understand because you’re not in finance. Laws really need to be changed on this. It’s morally wrong.
Hey Rob Great channel. Im REALLY wondering what your thoughts are on Tony robbins new book the whole grail of investing?? I wondering what astute investing professionals think of caz investments? Rob, i think many of your followers would like to know or get some insight on Tony robbin new book & the caz investment vehicle.
Rob, Can you address how RMDs fit into any kind of "bucket" strategy? If I am going to HAVE to take withdrawals shouldn't that affect my planning since I know I will have a certain amount of money each year I'm required to withdraw as income?
Ask what degree they got and how long they have been an advisor. I can not tell you how many new clients I get from Edward jones hiring anyone with a pulse.
I'm curious how others track there Asset Allocation when it comes to rebalancing. Looking at the allocation provided by Fidelity it uses what I would call actuals as it accounts for funds that invest in multiple assets. However, when I look at my actual investments, they are classified as only one type allocation on paper. For example, I am invested in FXAIX which is classified as U.S. Equity, but if you look at the actual portfolio it has about 0.75% in International equity. So when you rebalance, are you just ignoring the "other stuff" and considering FXAIX as only U.S. Equity or are you digging into the weeds to try and balance everything under every investment?
Does anyone have an answer to my question? When back-testing MFEGX, FXAIX and VFINX in Portfolio Visualizer the actively managed fund (MFEGX) returns are higher why?
A Dallas resident - sorry I missed you in town~! I've been laddering Tbills and CDs for past year - definitely see a yield deterioration and terms shift for all CDs and Tbill yield. Witnessed a peak CD yield of 5.45% last Spring with monthly distributions - now under 5% with distributions at maturity.
Rob, do you have any suggestions for a tool to collect all my expenses from credit cards, bank accounts, utility bills and give me a monthly summary of what I'm spending? I looked at a couple, but they tend to want you to agree to giving them full access with no recourse to the company and probable unfettered 3rd party solicitation from their partners (Rocket....). Thanks
Can anyone help with this? I own MFS fund MFEGX and was looking to move the money to index funds, so I started doing back-testing. When back-testing MFEGX, FXAIX, and VFINX in Portfolio Visualizer the actively managed fund (MFEGX) returns are higher why?
Not sure what time period you are looking at (that makes a difference) and you have to use the correct index if benchmarking a comparison to an active fund. MFEGX is a Large Cap Growth fund so compare it to the Large Cap Growth Index ETF VUG and see how it compares. Past 10 and 15 years it is trailing an appropriate index.
Drives me crazy how people are so obsessed & care if you have “women” advisors!! Who cares as long as the advisor is knowledgeable & ethical it doesn’t & shouldn’t matter to any sane person!

💯
ROB I don't trust or believe in Financial Advisors... People like you, Warren Buffett, and John Bogle provide EXCELLENT guidance alone ❗

Thanks for sharing your insights and for answering some good questions. I'm glad you are doing some good exercises to help your back.

I like the information on his videos. I don't like that his fee is 0.6%. Seems too high to me.
That would be Eric of Safeguard Wealth Management! I agree he is a hugh source useful insight/info
I subscribe to Eric’s video too. He seems to be an excellent resource on tax related retirement issues. Too bad he is AUM
they have good videos on here for free to learn from
@Rob Berger, the guys who do the Retirement Tax Podcast, Steven Jarvis & Benjamin Brandt, would be a great interview.
Love your show Rob. Wondering if you can do a show on understanding expense ratios and the effect over time.
He did. It was about 3 months ago.
Best financial advise is to invest in index funds. No advisor can beat it in the long term!

@RobBerger When do you go Live for Q & A? I want to know how you choose what brokerage account you use to do a Roll Over IRA?
Great Video!
Look at the 10 year average for T and you will see why no one is discussing the stock.
How is Empower as a investment management service?

Another great show. Which Fidelity municipal MM fund do you have? I currently am in SPAXX.

Hi Rob, another great show. Is Facet the company you were referring to? Headquartered in Baltimore?

Hi. Can anyone help me find the page on Rob's site that list the advisors he recommends? I'm not able to find it. Thanks.

Some are good but not all but same for few only or independents.
Can you do a video on the rule of 55? Or is there one out there.

Quicken does a good job with this. You can specify your own asset classes or go with their data for each security.

Slow Horses is killer good.
I find Project Lab also a good tool. Any thoughts?

Quicken. I've been using it for 30 years.

How about Abundo Wealth?
