Man. As a csa survivor, this song hits so unbelievably close to home. Coming to terms not just with what happened to us but the things we've done ourselves is such a painful but necessary journey; I've lost so many years of my life after the abuse ended just working through it. I've been working with at-risk youth for a few years now and no matter how hard it gets seeing myself in them, showing them they can come out of it stronger has been everything to me. You sharing your story and showing countless others they're not alone can make all the difference in a young person's life. Wishing you nothing but the best

"I know i was wrong, but i'm gonna make it right", a simple but awesome statement that people can learn from. We live in a world where no one ever wants to admit when they're wrong, they double down, pass blame. Admitting wrong and learning from it, trying to do better or be better, thats the way it needs to be. Much respect for this song.
It also seems like you're not allowed to make a mistake and change. Once you've messed up, western society at least, doesn't want to forgive most people. As if we're all supposed to be perfect from day 1.

The line “No one knocks at my door” hits hard. I’ve known the kind of people that are around when times are fun for them, but disappear like a dang ghost when you need some kind of help or support. They feel you’re good enough to cover their meal at a restaurant, or to come to their birthday party to bring gifts, or to come over to hang out with them when they’re feeling low, but when you need something, suddenly they can’t be bothered (and furthermore, according to them, you’re selfish for wanting the same courtesy you gave them). I knew someone who thought it was perfectly fine for her to blow off appointments she made with me without warning or explanation the second something else came up, leaving me waiting by the door for a car that wasn’t going to show up. It hurts to have someone treat you like some random chore to be shrugged off.
As an adult, knowing that the actors who played my comfort characters growing up, were going through the same things I went through around that time, breaks my heart.

And his taking accountability for his own actions in the same breath, saying he’s doing everything he can to make up for the pain he caused other people, without simply blaming his mistakes on his own trauma and leaving it at that. This guy still did what he did and it doesn’t dismiss it, you think he would have learned but he decided to become a victim. The case (with him being diddled by Peck) was done with a long time ago. This is just great timing for him to get people who know shit to love him.
He’s never tried to dismiss it though. Dudes never used him being assaulted to justify anything he’s done. Even if he’s thought it he’s never made that his reasoning for his actions
It's hard to realize that, while we as teenagers we enjoyed Drake's lyrics and acting, he was dealing with a lot of hard and terrible things in his life. He was reaching his dreams, but paying a high price. The only thing I think I can do now is to continue supporting his job (music, concerts, acting) and appreciating the job that he has made for a long time.
@@ModestKrab Apparently the evidence showed the child was stalking him and that he cut contact with them. I think people forget sometimes that these kids can also act crazy. The media dog piled on him when it all first went down but didn't exactly follow through with what actually happened. But they sure did stick through for all of Johnny Depps stuff. ""I responded to a fan whose age I didn't know yet & when i became aware of their age, all conversation and communication stopped," he said. "This individual continued to come to shows and pay for meet and greets, all while I was unaware that this was the same person I was communicating with online, and that's what I plead guilty to.""

As a survivor of SA as a child from her own brother, whose family never believed her, you have helped me to let to my husband know that it’s okay to ask for help to heal. I’m tired of calling myself names and gaslighting myself into avoided help. It’s time. I need help. I am tired of holding myself together. Thank you Drake for being open about your struggle, survival, and growth going forward. It’s given me courage to take steps forward to healing.
I’m also a CSA survivor and have taken therapy for it. Look into EMDR especially if you get flashbacks frequently that kill your mood it’s a world of wonder!!

Bell pleaded guilty to felony attempted child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of disseminating harmful material to a juvenile in 2021. He was sentenced to two years of probation

For the record Drake Bell has been going to Mexico ever since 2008 long before he was difamated and cancelled by americans. Mexican people are very noble, kind and hearwarming and they are loyal to foreigners who appreciate our culture and the beauty of our country. Drake bell was at first a friend of Mexico and now many of us see him as a Mexican so we are loyal to him and supportive. Right now we are very protective of him and some of us resent the way that many americans abandoned him but now that the truth is out now some want to pretend they were always there. Why couldn't americans love one of their own, but it was foreign countries who lend him and hand and allowed him to speak about the case while in USA people just cancelled him? I'm not talking you but honestly americans should travel more because Mexico, Korea, Malasya, Turkey have many things that are more advanced than in the states and one of them is not being judgemental and not canceling people.
@@parareefaelias656 I see where you are coming from. As an American, I can tell you that people here will condemn a person at the drop of a hat, because we are a bitter country. Not all of us are like that, but over the last few years I've grown too tired to hate people anymore. There are a few that I know I will never like, but I'm sick of jumping on a hateful bandwagon just to find out that I'm the asshole who helped push someone in a dark hole. By the time allegations against Drake were in the media, I was already emotionally burnt, and couldn't hate him, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't laugh at jokes at the time. I didn't help anything. I'm tired of being bitter. If I could apologize to him in person I would. Actually, I would thank him. I didn't suffer the same kind of abuse growing up, and to no where near the same degree, but I have male friends who unfortunately experienced some similar things, and they struggle with it so much, to this day. I'd thank him on behalf of the men in my life who have suffered in silence, that he has shared things that are so vulnerable. They can't speak up, but he did. I want him to know that means something bigger than him.
Prayers sent out this guy's way. In 2020, he was almost disgraced... But, by that age, I had become way more emphatic and unfussy to go on an internet tirade about something that didn't concern me. I recognized his struggles and hoped things got better for him.... Drake, I hope you are doing great now.

It's very powerful when a man can talk about his abuse. When he can admit he has done wrong too but wants to do right. I hope other men that experienced abuse in the industry will be encouraged to come out with their truth. There needs to be a "me too" type movement for men. It's not just girls and woman who experience abuse.
I agree. It's about due time any day now for men to speak up too. Even as a girl, abuses that are being ignored affect men just as much too. The stigma is crazy.

@@no.1spidey-fan182way to victim blame... Not unlike all those people who stood by the side of his abuser. Sometimes the people we have a great experience with have done horrible things to others. Besides, it is rare but more common than one would think that the abused end up abusing. We weren't there. He lost his case. Always believe the victim first. They might be lying but you always believe the victim first or else we continue to make it impossible for victims to go get help out of fear of no one believing them. Just like a criminal is innocent until proven guilty, a person who claims abuse is telling the truth until proven otherwise.
Coming back to this 8 months later, and still is one of Drake’s most beautiful pieces I ever loved! This is THE DRAKE I grew up with! As a SA survivor, I want to give him a huge hug. As children we are supposed to be protected, and the people we looked up to completely failed us. The memories never leave, we just learn to ignore it. He is a grown man now, im sure hes been through all the self hate, suicidal thoughts, and days wondering, "Why me?". Drake you are a fucking badass. Huge hug from all of us who have suffered in silence. You were never alone, and you are loved.
This is incredibly Beatles-esque. I'm so glad Drake has been able to survive his abuse..he really is a legend and an icon from our childhood. His importance in our culture will NEVER be diminished by his experiences.

@rebbyy95 sometimes that's what victims become. Not all, but a few, because of that trauma and dealing with it. No it's not an excuse for him, its just sad all the way around.
As a survivor of repeated Ra**, Thank you for sharing your story. I also went on that spiral and even attempting to end 7 times yet God won't let me. I realized I survived to help others and now I'm a trauma counselor and therapist. I’ve always said my generation (the 90s kids) lived in a golden age of television with amazing shows and talent. Now I’m sitting here in horror knowing what all these kids lost in the process of giving us this content.
In Hollywood I was barely there a year doing auditions in my early twenties. I was living with my friends and my friend Charlie heard music in the yard behind us. He told me it was drake bell and if we wanted to go meet and hang with him. I did not believe it was ACTUALLY him. He was so nice. Listened to our original music and showed us some stuff. Then we sang like 3 Ben folds songs together while he played the piano. Drake is a master musician and creative powerhouse. I don't know how to say this but after listening to this song and watching the video for about 20 times it seems like Drake isn't talking as a star but as a private person. The way he sings "I know I was wrong" at the end seems to me like he isn't doing that for image purposes. He is talking from the heart.

I can relate too. I'm mama bear with my boys. I told my fiance about my past. Even at 30 it still carries. I'm glad I have a partner that is here for me. I told my mother and she didn't comfort me. I'm so sorry this happened to you 😢.

I grew up watching Drake and Josh. At that time, I considered that one of the best shows ever made. It was a huge part of my childhood. But after I watched the Quiet on Set documentary and listened to your story, I just want to say I’m sorry for what you went through and you having the courage to share your story and let your voice be heard, I have so much respect for you for doing that. Hopefully, this motivates others to come forward. Btw, the Drake and Josh set up at the end brought me to tears. ❤

This is a beautiful representation of revealing a childhood trauma. He also takes ownership in how he put that trauma on someone else. We live in a world where no one ever wants to admit when they're wrong, they double down, pass blame. The line “No one knocks at my door” hits hard. I’ve known the kind of people that are around when times are fun for them, but disappear like a dang ghost when you need some kind of help or support. They feel you’re good enough to cover their meal at a restaurant, or to come to their birthday party to bring gifts, or to come over to hang out with them when they’re feeling low, but when you need something, suddenly they can’t be bothered (and furthermore, according to them, you’re selfish for wanting the same courtesy you gave them). I knew someone who thought it was perfectly fine for her to blow off appointments she made with me without warning or explanation the second something else came up, leaving me waiting by the door for a car that wasn’t going to show up. It hurts to have someone treat you like some random chore to be shrugged off.
As an adult, knowing that the actors who played my comfort characters growing up, were going through the same things I went through around that time, breaks my heart.

It's hard to realize that, while we as teenagers we enjoyed Drake's lyrics and acting, he was dealing with a lot of hard and terrible things in his life. He was reaching his dreams, but paying a high price. I’m tired of calling myself names and gaslighting myself into avoided help. It’s time. I need help. I am tired of holding myself together.

I’m also a CSA survivor and have taken therapy for it. Look into EMDR especially if you get flashbacks frequently that kill your mood it’s a world of wonder!!

For the record Drake Bell has been going to Mexico ever since 2008 long before he was difamated and cancelled by americans. Mexican people are very noble, kind and hearwarming and they are loyal to foreigners who appreciate our culture and the beauty of our country. Drake bell was at first a friend of Mexico and now many of us see him as a Mexican so we are loyal to him and supportive. Right now we are very protective of him and some of us resent the way that many americans abandoned him but now that the truth is out now some want to pretend they were always there. Why couldn't americans love one of their own, but it was foreign countries who lend him and hand and allowed him to speak about the case while in USA people just cancelled him? I'm not talking you but honestly americans should travel more because Mexico, Korea, Malasya, Turkey have many things that are more advanced than in the states and one of them is not being judgemental and not canceling people.

It's very powerful when a man can talk about his abuse. When he can admit he has done wrong too but wants to do right. I hope other men that experienced abuse in the industry will be encouraged to come out with their truth. There needs to be a "me too" type movement for men. Besides, it is rare but more common than one would think that the abused end up abusing. We weren't there. He lost his case. Always believe the victim first. They might be lying but you always believe the victim first or else we continue to make it impossible for victims to go get help out of fear of no one believing them. Just like a criminal is innocent until proven guilty, a person who claims abuse is telling the truth until proven otherwise.
Coming back to this 8 months later, and still is one of Drake’s most beautiful pieces I ever loved! This is THE DRAKE I grew up with! Drake, I’m very proud of you and the amount of work you put in your music. You influenced me to start singing and play the guitar which sounds crazy! Especially with having your past in this MV and I related to this too! Been a fan ever since I was young and now getting ready to become an adult! As a SA survivor, I want to give him a huge hug. As children we are supposed to be protected, and the people we looked up to completely failed us. The memories never leave, we just learn to ignore it. He is a grown man now, im sure hes been through all the self hate, suicidal thoughts, and days wondering, "Why me?". I’ve always said my generation (the 90s kids) lived in a golden age of television with amazing shows and talent. Now I’m sitting here in horror knowing what all these kids lost in the process of giving us this content.
In Hollywood I was barely there a year doing auditions in my early twenties. I was living with my friends and my friend Charlie heard music in the yard behind us. He told me it was drake bell and if we wanted to go meet and hang with him. I did not believe it was ACTUALLY him. He was so nice. Listened to our original music and showed us some stuff. Then we sang like 3 Ben folds songs together while he played the piano. Drake is a master musician and creative powerhouse. I never knew your struggles, but I’m so proud of you, one of my childhood hero’s, for being the better person. All good vibes your way- Drake

I don't know how to say this but after listening to this song and watching the video for about 20 times it seems like Drake isn't talking as a star but as a private person. The way he sings "I know I was wrong" at the end seems to me like he isn't doing that for image purposes. He is talking from the heart.

But after I watched the Quiet on Set documentary and listened to your story, I just want to say I’m sorry for what you went through and you having the courage to share your story and let your voice be heard, I have so much respect for you for doing that.
