Great video, Pansy! Truly, the only real negative impact here is the value of quest rewards and trash loot. The amount of economy inflation will make those rewards and any fixed prices(such as cube upgrades and crafting mats etc) negligible. But like you said, as far as people not buying the candy goes, they can sell low level mats for huge amounts of money because the whales are willing to spend it. I haven't spent any money outside of the Founders pack and the wings(they were just too good to pass up). Yet at level 25 I have a full set of blue armor. I sold _only 14_ of my iron coins and got enough cash to buy 5 pieces of blue gear. That would have gotten me like what...1 green weapon if I spent the coins instead? So even I'm benefiting from this model. I agree that it's stupid though, but this is the world we live in now I'm afraid. I'm pretty sure it was the mobile gaming industry that introduced this p2w model that plagued everything else.

I played Blade and Soul for 2-3 years before moving on to BDO. The way NCSoft/NCWest treats its playerbase and the level of care for their own game is nowhere as good as Pearl Abyss, it's not even comparable. BnS nowadays is rampant with macros/xml edits/mods on a level that BDO players would be shocked, and I would expect the same in Aion after a while. NCSoft is a mobile game company nowadays, they do not care about their PC games.
Direct to the point and never shy to comment on what is good and bad. Nice video! Great to get some insight from someone who is actually playing the game and leading too. I just started and been playing for about 3 days now and I can really say the items on the broker are quite cheap. I remember buying Doom Lure stigma for about 25k~30k on the old Aion classic (yep, veteran here) but now I just got one for 15k. Ngl, I did purchase some candies from sellers to make skill book purchases a bit easier but I also know that's just it, for an easier start. End game I still have to do the grind. Thanks for this!
sadly, the whales can purchase loot rights from a dungeon to get gear, they can purchase enchatnment stones quicker, and even the medals so all they really need to farm is AP :(
I just loved this review. Calling it "slimy" tactic was correct. However, I also liked your objectivity regarding the "still a good game" part. Basically, it's a controversial situation, definetely not black or white. Being honest dispensing both negative and positive feedback is the best way to go.
I gave this a try and played for a few days and now am at the free 1 hr a day level. I'm remembering why I quit playing years ago - slow level progression, grindy quests, crap drops, and the worst thing is socketing mana stones. Cost too much to get the "makes it more likely powders" and then have that 4th Attack +5 fail wiping them all out. Combat isn't all that great either. I think I'll stick with GW2 for now.
It's not really pay to win. it's just, you can vendor stuff, and use that money to buy stuff from the market board. all the stuff you're buying is atainable in game, and you're buying it from other players, so it's money that's staying in the games economy.
Yeah people have different opinions of p2w. For me, as long as they don’t money-gate you or give a significant time advantage it’s not p2w. Let’s see how endgame plays out
@@gunzoor5037 items will be more expensive for everyone, not only "normal" players. Those non-whales will benefit from selling items to whales. Everyone will get a piece of the whale money, and we're already benefiting from their purchase because they can't wait for the daily lockout.

Agree on everything. You don't build pvp wise in a day, there's ton of ppl who doesn't get that. Greetings, Bubblicious! Elyos / Siel. Good content mate!
What I don’t understand is why ppl try and deny or minimize the p2w in this game or any other game with p2w. I bought candies from players to vendor. I know that player is p2w. I benefited from it to buy bronze coins to get all blues. But that player I bought them from has all orange and each gear has 3 crit stones slotted and a +10 orange weapon. Who would win a duel between me and them at this stage? Tbh, the whales helped me me get better gear. But this game is overtly p2w at its current state. Sure, you could say it won’t matter at end game but the long road to end game is paved with pink tigers and real $$.
11:50 you need to mention that you can buy silver and gold medals via the broker which are needed in mass for the best gear aka the lvl 40 or 50 abyss gear. If you have enough Kinah you just need to farm Abyss points dont need to bother with medals and enchantment stones for +15 gear. People who swipe will get their BiS pvp gear way faster. It will also be kinda unfun to fight people with lvl 50 fabled +15 pve gear before everyone gets their pvp gear since they dont care about enchantment stone cost. You cant even complain that whales are buying stuff if people can skip stuff and save time they will do that, its the responsibility of the devs to make sure that they give people no big oppurtunity to p2w. This hurts the overall game and splits the communit and makes people leave. Its hard to defend the game sadly. Also population is at 4-5k peak after the 40k que at launch. I guess after free siel ends more people will quit. Hope it doesnt hurt population too much but I have a feeling that we could see ~1k active players in 1 month which would be kinda sad. Anyways good video, feel bad for people like you who are good guys and love the game but get treated like trash by ncsoft. Hope you and your guild will have a good time anyways.
You need to mention from when it was tradable. That's not in Classic. That wasn't till a lot later. This version will only go to version 2.7, and go a different direction.
Siel at launch: Queue at 30k+ Siel today: Roughly 5.5k players at peak Siel next week: Free to play week ends. Game isn't quite dead yet...but it's certainly bleeding heavily.
@@JennyHazed It's the first week--numbers usually decline during the early stages unless there's good word of mouth. The word of mouth on Reddit is largely negative and often outright hostile. The word of mouth on Twitter also has pockets of hostility...when you can find stuff about Aion the game. Searching for Aion on Twitter yields all kinds of stuff--religious iconography, a cryptocurrency, a musician of some sort, somebody named Aion who is hoping for pictures of a guy with hairy armpits in a tank top...it's a bit of a mess. Speaking of messes, the game engine has a bug which makes the frame rate plummet...but, for some reason, pressing H to open the help screen and then playing a video from the help screen fixes the problem. Oh, and even the uninstaller is buggy. The program fails to remove the game entirely and you have to uninstall the rest manually. And, to top it all off, the latest article of news section of the website is touting the season pass. Gotta make sure new players learn all about one of the most hated features of the game, after all. It's possible than NCSoft will be able to tone down the emphasis on p2w and turn the anti-hype train around...but right now, that seems rather improbable.
@@JennyHazed " I wouldn't be surprised if playerbase caps around 10k to 15k for the next year or so." Five days later and the playerbase of both servers combined, according to myaion_eu, isn't even reaching 6,300 at peak. It's going to take some major changes for the playerbase to ever reach the 10k mark again, let alone 15k.
Wait is this aion? How come it's full of people? I just came online after 6 years 3 months ago and it was mostly empty with pretty much no one in sight. How come it's so full of people now?
Last Year in Korea opened a "classic" server of version 1.2 of the game. The same happened now in North America with version 1.5 (the original version from year 2009 when Aion became Free-2-Play). Its basically a new official server, with old content (no mytical armor, no new classes like gunner, aetertech, songweaver, painter, no glory-point system, no enchantable stigmas ect. pp.)
I play asmodian on Israphel and the difference in economy is just shocking. Ofc we have our whales too but man those crit stones go for a few K here. That’s what happens when you have a ton of whales which want to come out on top of each other but all they end up doing is paying to kill the game. Bit sad tbh.
Realistically, that whale money is being injected into the playerbase. It's being circulated to the "free" (subbed) players. Sure the market is inflated, but this situation is speeding up everyone's progression, not just the whales.
@@alainsauve5903 But speeding up is not what most people want i think. I don't at least, I want to play the game. I just don't like the idea of an unfair game. I have enough money to buy candies too but I dont because it ruins the game for me.
@@timm8998 I completely understand, and I don't like it either. Neither does Pansy. However, it doesn't affect you as much as you think it does in game. It's actually simple to put up with because the benefits the whales get aren't very noticeable, and they'll only become more minute over time.
The Classic server is. The people that are still playing are frustrated, but they aren't quitting because they understand that it's not going to affect the end game. It's sad that we won't get a proper early game experience, but most people are rushing through it anyways.
Such a disappointment, I had so much fun and made it to level 26 and then got killed nearly oneshoted by an ranger, then realised the daeva pass is the real p2w and the candies making it even worse. Fuck man, 15+30 to keep up! What for, the same content?
@@TheLegendaryBM How? If people get more kinah through p2w methods, they can afford way more enchantment stones way quicker, which equals higher enchanted gear which equals more tankier and harder hitting players which equals more kills which equals more ap which equals stronger gear much quicker which equals.. you see where I'm going with this? It's really not hard to comprehend how shit this is.
guys you have aion classic in NA good for you !! we dont have it in EU :( if you cant p2w JUST go farm 24h yes is same = i can p2w so i buy my time i buy me work time in aion and i lose my money i work for this money i loss it in aion i farm money like you farm kinah or gear . why all guys (toxic) ??? the game need money and you wana play free ?????? and you want full gear and you want more kinah and you want every thing and you sleep and YOU play 1h or 2h in the day and you want all of this WTF rly !!
The game is great aged well. Better then most mmos out to-date. I don't understand people complaining about pay 2 win lol sounds like a bunch of cry babies with no job or somthing. I play free tonplay and have 0 issues of the pay 2 win. Why would I be mad someone is wasting there hard earned cash on I. Game items ? The money supports the gsme anyways. Like I'm really gonna camp sanctum and pout over someone selling a candy ? Get over it find a job and do the same if you enjoy the gsme and can't wait to make more money in game. Bunch of clowns always crying about somthing. People quitting over the pay 2 win aspect is goofy.
Well to give some context, recently an end-game spear which has a very low drop rate sold for 500m which was buyout and someone was willing to buy for 800m but didnt make it in time. We have a limit of 1m per day for cash earned per account. Ideally we should make money by doing professions or selling armor drops. However, due to the sheer amount of bots, professions make no money because the economy is dominated by bots. So when there is such a raw amount of money which was printed and brought into the game in combination of bots suffocating the economy, its hard for players to make cash. If you recall the vanilla days, they didnt have such items like tiger candy so the inflation of items progressed over years. We're basically at a point where the game would have been 5 years down the line and we haven't even had the first major update.
How is this a problem when literally every single game has gold selling in it. Even OSRS sells gold directly to players in the form of Bonds (membership) people are just complaining to complain.. its fucking 20k profit and u have a 1m sell cap daily.. sheesh.
You sell the candies to players after your vendor cap. Saw a player a few lvls above me today selling over 200 candies for 80k a pop. That’s over 16 million quna in a day at lvl 34. I’ve got 2 million after 3 weeks lol. It’s an issue when a gold geared player with each gear socketed goes up against a green geared player who didn’t buy hundreds of candies with real $$. Fairly simple to understand imo.
The daeva pass on top of premium was off-putting for me. 30$ on top of 15$ monthly? it would make sense if the sub was not there. also u missed one thing the daeva pass, the title, it gives the best title in game for 30 days same as miragent or fenris title. the amount of time required for that is huge, and seeing someone can just swipe card and get that title is really upsetting.
Yeah true. Wish they did a subscription with a shot ton of cosmetics and if that didnt work, then roll out a pass or something. Like they had 12 yrs of a developed game they could have taken item models from
Is it worth to play the game as a free user? Im not really into pvp and just want to enjoy the pve and casual progression but Im afraid that if I play as a free user it's still hard to progress as a casual player, I can't really spend money on games now that covid is still threatening my money but I really want to relive those old times aion, so is it worth to play as a free user?
Free user here and I would say it's 50/50. Here are my thought about it: 1. Can't access to gathering and gain Kinah from killing mob will require you to questing and farming x3 for materials/ items/ gears from mob so you can sell them to broker to earn Kinah. As you may already know Kinah is the key to everything in this game, so can't earn Kinah from killing mob or can't even gathering stuff without paying subscription is 100% suck. 2. Grinding is a bit harder without paying for the Siel's Aura because of the exp you will receive will be reduce 50%, so it may bore you for doing quest for double effort unlike other pay users. 3. They gave us 1 hour of Siel's Aura everyday but imo it's won't do anything much, as gathering take time and by the time you have reach your desire gathering skill, there won't be much of time left of the Siel's Aura. If you can overcome those obstacles then yeah, you can enjoy this game like you want. Join a legion, level up to go to instances with legion mate and have fun.
I remember Aion back in the day, I knew Ncsoft would pull some scummy stuff. Glad I took a pass, my guess is it’s only going to get worse. This is not Aion classic and it’s sad to see you defending it.
dont u need kinah to enhance gear and sockel the stones, as well for the best godstones, that cost like 100 mill back in the day, u needed kinah for everything and its not like it was easy to get it i dont remember it clearly but i bought premium stuff, and sold it at the auction house back when the game went f2p to get +15 gear to rift xd holy fuck, sockeling gear was the WORST, u needed hundreds of those manastones and it was such a pain in the ass
candies not that big an issue, especially when you reach 30 lvl ap equipment, unlikely at this early stage people will be selling useful stones, so kinah not that big an issue, but it shows an attitude of ncsoft) and most likely things will get to the worse
Well this has been their stance on monetization in Blade and Soul, Aion and Aion Classic KR for quite a few years I believe . I was aware because I played BnS and Aion retail recently so wasn’t much of a shock but I wish they attempted to add cool costumes or something

NCSOFT's Aion Classic is sucks. You can say it is dead cos it is. Dead doesnt only mean there is no players in the game. 90% of them is botting now. Seen lots of bot, hacker, instant portings, etc. Cos of that I started botting too there is no reason to play by myself when Ncosft doesnt care. Candy and other settings are s*cks. Playerbase also will drop dramatically soon you will see. You did not show the chat, there is full of spam by kinah sellers. Game economy f*cked up. It is Classic just in its name, there just like a trash private server. Make video like this 2-3 months later. Anyway I just found your chanel, was nice to see you man as I was in your legion. As far as you enjoy that shit, happy gaming, nothing else matter. Cya, AdolfHealer
This used to be my favorite game but the absolutely greedy and game breaking monetization destroyed it beyond hope. I will never trust NCSoft and its western publishers never in my life and I have nothing but hate for them. Do yourself a favor Pansy and delete this horrible gambling """game"""
It breaks the early game leveling and PvP experience. It won't break the end game PvP experience. It is greedy, and we shouldn't have to pay a sub on top of this crap, but the game is so fun that it's hard to justify not playing it. We got the same thing as Korea, and they're competing just fine with each other. People are jumping to conclusions without inputting any effort. Yeah people have an advantage, but it's not insurmountable later in the game. 100k will be peanuts later on.
@@Chris3s No other games quite like Aion though. At least not yet. I have high hopes for AoC, but besides that, Aion is the only PvP MMO I'm interested in. If it's not game breaking, I'll put up with it.
well....i really think these moves are made as the game progresses...so when most players hit end game...they will add something to swipe for end game gear
Naw, just the weak will quit. Aion is a game that is packed and crowded with 3000 players, it'll be fine for 1-2 years. If they add more p2w stuff, that will kill it then.
Lol...u can get all these so called P2W stuff...the best u can get ahead on if this is the AION I remember is the mana stones attempt...otherwise your gear is crap compared to abysspoints/pvp coins stuff and purple end-game raid/dungeon stuff...the (minimal decent) orange stuff must be real crap to set complete now...AION is a grind that encourages botting...because the economics of the game is shot....and the drops and teaming up mechanics have become horrible...do they have a "Naruto" in this new classic reopening???...if there is no Legion drama and cross same server Elyos and Asmodian betrayals then this IS NOT the AION as it was at its peak...10+ legion teams abyss fort sieges...those times were glorious...lol!
Elyos is having drama and they think we're out numbering them. Last night they had over 450 players we had 340~ and still slapped them silly. It's hilarious watching their drama unfold.
I don't agree. They already force players to buy subscription pack just to play the game properly. On top of that, there is daeva pack/ You cannot deny that those who have real-life cash to spend on a game will have an advantage over those who don't even buy the pack. 1hour of game time and no abilities to actually play the game. This whole candy thing is the least of their problems. yeah, we all have to earn our gears at end game but imagine someone pays monthly or yearly for the daeva pack, the rewards will never end. Constant access to free stuff and they can control the economy.
Consider the free to play as a trial and the subscription to be baseline. This game isn’t supposed to be competitive for someone who doesn’t pay a dime. How would a company make money?
Totally right that people that pay will gain an advantage over those that don't. How much of an advantage is the question at hand here. 30$ is too expensive for a monthly battle pass, and there shouldn't be a currency exchange mechanic when there's a sub. I'd prefer a WoW token to the candies anyways. That being said, the leveling experience is ruined. Low level PvP won't be fun when you encounter a whale. However, this won't affect end game PvP as much as people think. That's the only thing that's keeping people going.
@@imPansy Good games like POE and warframe have limited P2W (if you see stash tabs as P2W, though the game is free), FF14 also pretty sure doesnt have any P2W cash shop items, sinceit's also a subscription game. If a game has subscription, it shouldn't have anything "mandatory" in the cash shop
@@Chris3s FFXIV has some items that give small advantages in game: Things you can buy with cash include: * motorcycle mount (30 USD) with a built in speed upgrade (makes leveling at the beginning of an expansion a bit faster, becomes obsolete pretty quickly as players unlock the ability to fly in zones) * extra retainers (extra storage space, automatic gathering of low/middle level crafting materials) * flying whale mount (42 USD) that can carry up to 7 passengers (mostly useful for helping other players) * instantly level a combat job to level 70 (saves some time, not a huge deal) In other words, you can get some modest in-game conveniences with cash. The conveniences are big enough to be noticeable but small enough that complaining about them feels like nit-picking.
@@imPansy They would make money the "old way", by providing a service worth peoples time. Instead companies now elect to make the most money possible with as little investment they can, screw the longevity, short term gains is what the shareholders want, and what the CEOs want too because they get bonuses based on performance (look at Bobby Kotick getting 150milion yearly bonuses by doing the same thing, as much monetization as possible, record revenues and yet closing studios and laying off 1000s of people to get that bonus even higher for himself and shareholders, employees be damned). Its the current corporate culture, and we as consumers are all complicit for letting it happen, buying into it and not boycotting. So pretty much thats whats up and why we can't have nice things anymore, because nice things cost money to make and support, and noone is willing to do that when they can get the same profits for less.

Let’s see how endgame plays out
What, that is p2w lol
That model broken economy , because ítems gonna be more expensives for normal playera ( btw ,that normal Ppl already pay a 15$ suscription Lol)
@@gunzoor5037 items will be more expensive for everyone, not only "normal" players. Those non-whales will benefit from selling items to whales. Everyone will get a piece of the whale money, and we're already benefiting from their purchase because they can't wait for the daily lockout.
@@gunzoor5037 theres nothing broken about it. Sell mana stones my dude. I've been selling shitty 4 and 6 crit stones for upward of 50k a pop. Im more than happy to take the money of the impatient.
Ncsoft: "Oh he's right, now we need to make candies that sell to abyss vendors for 1000 abyss points"
since u cannot buy things that buffs u on top of any other player in pvp its most definitly not p2w, and of u dont want to pay money for extra drops ect, feel free to invest more time into playing the game
For you maybe, for the past week I've been hitting my 1m daily limit by npc'ing white and green items.
Great production!
30$ for a battle pass I way too much, you can get an entire game for that amount of money
I agree, $10 is pretty standard for most games.
Good stuff champ
But medals has been always tradable on broker that I remember o.o
There are medals on broker already.
@@imPansy They should be tradeable
Where are you seeing population numbers? I haven't seen any
Siel at launch: Queue at 30k+
Siel today: Roughly 5.5k players at peak
Siel next week: Free to play week ends.
@@JennyHazed " I wouldn't be surprised if playerbase caps around 10k to 15k for the next year or so."
Five days later and the playerbase of both servers combined, according to myaion_eu, isn't even reaching 6,300 at peak.
It's going to take some major changes for the playerbase to ever reach the 10k mark again, let alone 15k.
Clear explanation, ty.
Why theres no more BDO videos coming?
is still alive aion ?
The Classic server is. The people that are still playing are frustrated, but they aren't quitting because they understand that it's not going to affect the end game. It's sad that we won't get a proper early game experience, but most people are rushing through it anyways.
FIRSTTT
Such a disappointment, I had so much fun and made it to level 26 and then got killed nearly oneshoted by an ranger, then realised the daeva pass is the real p2w and the candies making it even worse. Fuck man, 15+30 to keep up! What for, the same content?
Did you watch the video? The Daeva Pass is only barely worth it for leveling to 50, once you are at 50, it's useless.

Aion is close to being dead. NC just want to grab some cash really quick and then BYE!
omg they brought morheim pvp man i hope they bring the classic aion to the EU
I doubt it man. Gameforge vs NCsoft issue
@@imPansy Gameforge is even more p2w
Is it available on mac ?
do i have to pay the subscription to enjoy the game?
Fairly simple to understand imo.
most old player know the real P2W is the wrapping system in the retail server. otherwise the kinah is useless, all the endgame PVP gear is untradeable
Correct, but the general population in the NA side is quite mentally weak. They won't understand that.
Here are my thought about it:
This is not Aion classic and it’s sad to see you defending it.
dont u need kinah to enhance gear and sockel the stones, as well for the best godstones, that cost like 100 mill back in the day, u needed kinah for everything and its not like it was easy to get it
i dont remember it clearly but i bought premium stuff, and sold it at the auction house back when the game went f2p to get +15 gear to rift xd
holy fuck, sockeling gear was the WORST, u needed hundreds of those manastones and it was such a pain in the ass
candies not that big an issue, especially when you reach 30 lvl ap equipment, unlikely at this early stage people will be selling useful stones, so kinah not that big an issue, but it shows an attitude of ncsoft) and most likely things will get to the worse
Well this has been their stance on monetization in Blade and Soul, Aion and Aion Classic KR for quite a few years I believe . I was aware because I played BnS and Aion retail recently so wasn’t much of a shock but I wish they attempted to add cool costumes or something
The NCsoft Will Go to sell AP in the Daeva Pass u Will see . Like Korea Aion...
Yes let's all pay $300 for 6k ap while we can farm 10k ap per hour ingame at guards lmao
Secooond
i was a summoner i think it was ''pet class'' is there a way to still play for free with out buying in to it just to get ahead ?
After 30th you'll need subscription. without battle pass and without cash shop, spirit master is still the fastest solo leveler
@@imPansy ty yeah spirit master i used that in pvping flying combat it helped alot when i reach lvl 30 ish or so that when i stoped playing years ago ty for the info i was thinking about it ill wait a little longer if they make some better changes : )

Did they remaster aion classic?
Nope
So in conclusion can a player that doesnt swipe or invest any $$ in Aion, enjoy it and play it ?
Yeah. I’m lvl 40 now and I hit the daily 1m limit without selling candy. At lvl 50 it’ll be very easy to do so
About siel buff (subs)
when free trial player go on instance party with someone having siel buff (subs).
what gonna happen with drop item?
can free trial still get the item or not? (rolling)
Nope they cant
so Ncsoft is the Goldseller
just wait, goldsellers gonna start protesting for goldfarmer-rights
Isn't the game free for another like 2 days? Lets see how the population will be in a month or 2 id say.
Apparently Korea's population is still healthy despite the crazy exploit that went on there. Sure it was patched, but im glad they were able to take the hit
@@imPansy Well, asians in general dont seem to care too much about exploits or p2w, ive only heard about classic aion a fee days ago and decided to do some research on it before playing it, if the guys in charge are willing to put such an item in the game this early on, makes me think of the future and what they might do to ruin the game, sadly im prob just gonns skip this, played aion back in like 2013 and loved the lore but i dont have the time to waste on something that might just turn out the same as the original.

@@alainsauve5903 just dont play the game if it has P2W crap at all. So many other games you can play

well....i really think these moves are made as the game progresses...so when most players hit end game...they will add something to swipe for end game gear
I'll be there to slap them for that
game will die soon.
Aion classic is going to be dead in a few weeks. It'll be a game that only the whales keep alive.
@@Chris3s FFXIV has some items that give small advantages in game:
Things you can buy with cash include:
* motorcycle mount (30 USD) with a built in speed upgrade (makes leveling at the beginning of an expansion a bit faster, becomes obsolete pretty quickly as players unlock the ability to fly in zones)
* extra retainers (extra storage space, automatic gathering of low/middle level crafting materials)
* flying whale mount (42 USD) that can carry up to 7 passengers (mostly useful for helping other players)
* instantly level a combat job to level 70 (saves some time, not a huge deal)
In other words, you can get some modest in-game conveniences with cash.
Pay2win is not the problem, you people ruin the game by creating such small characters, y'all disgusting for that.
