that is because when you add any subji to the hot oil which is called "vaghaar" the oil spatters every where, and here she showed how to cover right away after adding potato cubes, you can save it from the spattered oil droplets settle on your cooking surface. I hope that clears your concern about " loads of oil specks over your cooker". Thanks.
@@VanagiKhajana you are welcome. I too use the same method to avoid my gas and the cooking surface getting oily with this spatter. And here in the USA, we do not have that wonderful tradition to wash and clean the gas stove and platform with soap and water, so I even hate to use Rai for vaghaar as the Rai daane fly and land anywhere on the cooking stove surface and fall between the creese of the side cabinets near the stove surface! 😀
@@VanagiKhajana yes, and now we have a glass top cooking surface, which is even more difficult to keep it clean. The round rim of the heating surface gets rough with some sort of burned oil type coating, just like we have the rough surface on our tavi, and at certain point of time we , in India can remove that by rubbing with "intaakahlo" heheh, but here just yesterday I tried a home made solution and I am so happy to share with you. I added a spoonful of liquid soap, 2 tablespoon of cleaing white vinegar and 3/4 cupf water in a pump bottle. On the round rim formed on the glass heating surface, I profusely placed our edible baking soda. Lots of it, and pumped out that mixture on it. It started bubbling. Then placed a wet paper towel covering that baking soda. Frankly speaking I forgot to wipe it out after hald na hour or so, but next day morning I removed the paper towel and wiped out the dry powder on that cooking surface, whoa!! all the rough surface was cleaned and it had a shine like a brnad new gas stove! Well, I feel happy to share with you.
