I have found spirited driving in the snow is a sure fire way to find weaknesses in the power train because it exercises everything. I'm thinking it didn't spit anything out it needed so that's good news. A cabin air filter, oil change, brake rotor, caliper, and a couple of pads so far? Not bad. Yes, it was neglected but so far it appears neglect didn't destroy much of anything. Might as well shotgun the whole thing as you have done a lot already. Sounds like you got it cheap enough and it wouldn't hurt. As you know sometimes a little TLC can go a long way. Looking Good Todd!
To be honest I just bought this to get through that winter. I left it nicer than I found it and got rid of most of the problems. The current owner put a new bumper on, and took care of most of the other cosmetic things. I have no doubt it's still on the road
@@TheRustedGarage I heard on forums the 8 cylinders engine has more issues than the 6, But I can testify on the 6 because I had own one for many years and it has being nothing but reliable
This was probably the most ridiculous case of negligence I've ever seen. To make this car right after I bought it I had to replace the caliper, rotor, brake line, and of course the pads. The previous owner was just driving this thing around like that...

thanks!! Changing the rear differential fluid next, and trans fluid, and hoping this'll turn into a reliable/fun weekend offroader
I know 3 mercedes Mechanics that own ml500s 1999 to 2005 one over 375
Ready for the custom bumper video!
sooner the better!!!
Have fun Todd. Looks like she is somewhat coming together.
Getting there!
You have to wonder how long the previous owner drove it with that annoying beeping.
A thing to remember it has the same motor mounts as the V6 version and they break easy
What’s the latest update on this car, interesting journey for sure! Looking to take the plunge with an 03 ML500

@@TheRustedGarage That’s awesome man! What a journey haha! Definitely enjoyed the content brotha thank you for the update!
The ML320, 350 is the way to go on the W163 MLs the 6 cylinders are more reliable and from 2000 to 2004
What makes the V6 better than the V8 despite being identical internally?

@@RichardVac I've heard the exact opposite
ha ha if you are a surfer the w163 gives a surf report at the touch of a button lol if you near a coast though
one of your pads is actually missing dude.
