This movie and Disciples of the 36th chambers are my top favorite movies. Gotta love the intro to this film as well Lee Yi Min was really killing it with his different fighting styles and the music was on point with every strike

I will not lie but the opening of the movie is so good,I like seeing Lee Yi Min showing off his skills.Chang Yi is also has to teach Yi Min and when these to fight each other it’s something to watch,I also like this movie.

Seeing these Chinese classics reminds me of my now late dad and my childhood. My parents were huge fans of martial arts movies. We owned most of these chines classics my dad always bought them. I can't believe I came into this earth in the 90s🙄. Men I'm old.

9/10 excellent. Awesome cast; Lee Yi Min, Chang Yi, Lung Fei. Chang Yi is in my top 3 favorite. Hwang Jang-Lee of course is # 1. Lung Fei is great. Lee Yi Min is very good. Highly recommended film. Don’t miss this one!

Arguably one of the best Mantis movie that does not advertise Mantis kung fu in its title. Huge energy, speed and precision in this seven stars mantis style which is exactly what the style calls for. Lee Yee Min and Chang Yi . Both of them remarkable expertise. Chang Yi is extremely convincing in every one of his fighting scenes, his position, posture and movement are amazingly timed to the opponent, fast and clean. Lee Yee being younger has amazing energy, off course the last scene was probably made of several days of prepared choregraphy. In any case nothing made today can even approach the natural cleanliness and purity of a movie like this. The way modern movie are budgeted they could never afford to prepare such stunningly long and without special effect fights.
The plot is based on a spaghetti western Days of Anger. If you enjoyed The 7 Commandments of Kung Fu, go watch Days of Anger. You're gonna love it.

good story being torn between your heart and forgiving past sins. Chinese soap operas with fighting and action .Only good martial arts movies can do that.

@@evahbless4849 He always starts his movies in dumb and foolish scenes which always annoy me a little but he always succeeds in winning me over with his compassion and his kung fu. He does not look like he has natural talent but i don't think there is anybody as tough. The amount of work he puts in his fights easily puts him among the best. His resourcefulness is endless, tough as nail and yet very gentle, always make me respect him.
This movie is right, sometimes life gives no choice. Not all life's circumstances can be overcome, then life is imposed on us like fate. We cannot be upset by what we cannot control.

The training against the mantis fist is to be noted! Ching lung (rip) was the kìng of the somersault but here we have a triple somersault here!!followed by 2 steps falling on his back wìth a deadly kick!!!! That was really great for my learning at that time (40years ago!!)......😷😎😊!...
Lee Yi Min has to master those fighting styles in the manual that his uncle left for him in a short time. Chang Yi was surprised he was beaten by his own technique where Lee Yi Min used his mantis style better than him.

LEE YI MIN WAS VERY SMART IN LEARNING A FEW TRICKS FROM THE MASTER.....BUT WASN'T GONNA HANG AROUND MUCH LONGER. GRABBED REVENGE ON*****CHANG YI. THE FIGHT SCENES WERE OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Many commenters praise Li Yi Min & Chang Yi's talents. Also the good to superb movie and the "numbered rules" mentioned each time. Description tells the tale and more details if wanted: Fight at begin with "Lu Zu Hi" (Chang Yi) and man (Ma Chin Ku) will be KEY FACTOR later in movie. Lu and "Ho Chin Tin" (Lung Fei) have good 1st fight. Big guy in red working for Ho is (Ching Kuo Chung). "Sho Ping" (Lee) leaves town and learns kung fu on the road with Lu. They both find "entertainment" at an inn. Tons of fighting ! Sho fights one on one then a gang. "Ching Se Ho" is Sho's uncle. His father is "Ching Se Pai". Sun & Moon technique comes into play. One fighter switches to Mantis Fist and the other 7 star style. Plenty more great fighting then mentioned !
Hi Jane, nice to read a comment from you again ! I'm goognam goognws. You're the best with names. You just made me think that this movie does not have a single woman as an actress or even in the background, quite rare. The action is so good that i never thought about it. I think this movie explores all the relations a young man must have to his boss, his uncle, his mentor and master. But Lee Yee Min character has a soft and gentle side that betrays he benefited from being raised by a mother, this mismatches the scenario of his parents having been murdered by Chang Yi (sorry i don't use the story screen names). I think if he truly had been raised by only that uncle, he would not have the buoyant, bubbling and happy character. But i could be wrong. As always, i find the psychological side of these movies just as interesting as the fighting. Hope you have a safe 2021.

Yes I see your point about Li Yi Min in this movie and just as uncanny as it can be I actually watched this movie about 3 days ago as I am re watching a lot of them lately. It is unusual for no pretty girl to be in a movie whether they know kung fu or not. That safe 2021 is just what I am planning on so I wish you the same too. Wu Tang is getting near 3 million subscribers, notches away. Tapping out new movies just as always. We have quite the treat having them on here for us. See you back here again. Jane

The good thing about rewatching is it won't be disapoint. There's something about uchrony where you already know how the movie will progress that let you have a wider view and appreciation. Those mantis figures creeped me out as a kid.
Yeah, i saw in the end fight that infamous creepy Mantis posture demonstrated by Chang Yi were the body is leaning forward and stabing with both hands in turns but does not fall as if defying gravity. Looks very creepy and insect like.
