Just got mine last night at Guitar Center and the tone is amazing!!! Snow White version and you can hear tones and notes like no other guitar out there. Tuned it once and that's all it needed! Especially love the removeable strap posts too.
guitar center had a sale on these, i was a day late meaning the price jumped up 200$ and after playing it, i bought it anyway! i love the feel of this guitar!!!!
@@jixxxxer17Even though I was reluctant to buy a Gretsch made in China (for many reasons), I just got a 5420TG-59 last week. I went over it several times and could find no flaws. None. The guitar also arrived with the neck properly adjusted, action set comfortably low and intonation spot on. It did need to be tuned, but that's about it. Oh, and it was on sale for $200 off the regular price. By far the best $699 guitar I've ever seen/played.
I don't think the 'old' Gretsch Electromatics were very good (they felt more like today's cheaper Streamliners) - you always felt you needed to pay £1800+ for a 6000 series to get the real sound. The current G5420s are excellent and nail the Gretsch thing perfectly.
Korean guitars are also some of the worst. Can't deny that there is are lot more cheap guitars than good coming out of Korea. Japan I could handle, but Korea... Hmmm...
I have a G5420T and a G5422T both Korean made and excellent quality. New ones now are made in China and I would be reluctant to buy now as I believe quality has dropped (tried one to compare and disliked it). Korean made are excellent quality IMO.
It really depends on the MIK. There are many factors. That said - the ones I have are excellent. You have to be selective. I think that across the board quality has become an issue honestly due to inflation and trying to keep cost down.
I bought one of these today. I can't stop playing it. Damn thing does everything.

Its all your fault...just ordered candy apple red...

I have the aspen green G5420T amazing sounding and looking guitar.
Mine should show up today!
How's the tuning stability? And is the bridge pinned or floating?
Great review. These guys do the best on the web.
This sounds great!
A truly groovy guitar!
Hi Sam, Which amplifier do you use for the Gretsch G 5420 TG ? Is there a Fender Blues Junior III ?
Svein Lervåg looks like a blues breaker from what I'm seein
I bought on this past Saturday and love it. Before this one I had a White Falcon. I actually like this one better.
are you serious you like it better than a White Falcon, those are top of the line and like 4K aren't they ?
I see that one was made in Korea.. I looked at one a few days ago, and it was made in China... any overall difference with the current versions?
no way are you serious that's not good I was going to go look at one but not if they are now making them in China :(

Great quality review.
are you playing "sleeping dogs" by Mrnorth?
I was wondering how bunch of playing cards came with the Gretsch !
Does the larger headstock effect the tuning?
No. I shouldn't think so anyway. I have this guitar and it stays in tune well.

Always wanted a Gretsch, and this guitar in Cadillac Green looks amazing! But, hard to swallow that $1200CAD price tag for something made in Korea.
Korean made guitars are some of the best. I have this guitar in red and its quality is fantastic. You won't regret it.

It depends on the factory. Vox’s Bobcat models are MIK (they’re great), and Rivolta guitars are MIK with exceptionally good quality.
how much does it cost, and if it is the best among 5450, 5460 ...etcetera ...
What is the body width on this model? Thank you.
Cost of Gretch 5420TG
Gorgeous!
We think so too! -Lee
I wouldn't call that old school candy apple red. The original is much brighter. Haven't seen one in person so maybe it looks different.@@PMTVUK
Is there a difference between 5420tg. And 5420t or are they the same?
I think G is for gold, otherwise it's "silver"
Looks amazing how much l say
Can't you just imagine this guy back in 1917? Ahhhright boys, over the top now, can't keep jerry waiting.
Epic!
whats the difference to the 5420t?
miguel panta Gold hardware and a limited edition finish
@@ZillianZilch Thx. i got my caddy green one🥂
miguel panta 👍
Just how limited is limited?
Limited to the amount they can manufacture
WaxP3 so, millions then, lol. I have one of these in Cadillac Green with gold hardware. Apparently a "limited edition" but I see them everywhere 😂😂
Technically every guitar is limited!
I actually bought mine from my local PMT and they told me there were less than 1000 of these in the UK.
Lol you lowkey sound like Korg from Thor Ragnorok 😂
Just because there is a bigsby, you don’t have to keep using it. Let’s just hear the guitar.
And if he didn't use it people would have complained about that 🙄
Thats part of the charm of the guitar. The classic Gretsch sound is the bigsby flutter
Sweet as a nut !
hey man. well, excellent review. but please talk quicker. i've got shit to do.
thats how NOT to use Bigsby or any string bender!
NNsona oh please, there's no rules! You can use it however the fuck you want!
