    Hey guys! So, this is a complete rewrite. If you liked the last Alyssa hat that I made back in 2017, then you are really gonna love this one! This is the larger version, designed for heads 22-25' around, and there is a brand new pattern for this one as well. I hope you love this hat and it's new design, that you make many and give them as gifts or just make one for yourself! This is a fun, quick project, and it fits so incredibly well!
    If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment section below, or you can email me at fibertheory@yahoo.com to ask questions if you feel more comfortable keeping it private.
    The written pattern for this project can be found at the link below:
    www.etsy.com/l...
    Ok guys! Go, make the hat and I hope you'll email me pics of your finished projects!!
    Happy Crocheting!
    Hugs...
    ~Amanda~

    I watched the whole video before I decided I was going to give this beanie a try. I’ve tried A couple of other cable type beanies in the past, and even though I have experience crocheting, it was still a bit confusing. But you give very good instructions. So I’m excited to give this one a shot. Thanks so much for this very excellent video. I’ll take a picture of my finished product and send it to your email. The only thing I might change about this beanie is that I would make the pom-pom at the top detachable so that It can be removed before the beanie is put in the washer. ❤️

I have asked her questions regarding someone else's work because I wasn't getting the answer from at all, but Amanda not only answer but also said I will figure it out and let you know. I have been crocheting for about a month or so, and I didn't think I would be able to do this, but I have and it looks great! Admittedly, I had to slow the playback of the video a few times to see how you did certain things and where you placed certain stitches, but I did it! Btw, slow playback is hilarious, give it a listen 😂 Anyway, my question is, would you ever consider making a cable scarf tutorial? I would love to make these hats and matching scarves for Christmas gifts this year. Thanks for making this video and doing such a great job explaining things. Most other tutorials don't go far enough into the pattern before setting you out on your own. Keep up the great work!

    LOVED IT! This was my first cable. I was gona start the cable with your first video,but could not get where to start the cables and how so stopped. Then found this one and I was amazed at how easy it was. I did use a smaller hook 4.25mm because the stitch was smaller. I did use a 4med yarn but the chains looked to pulled. I am working on my tension,lol Thank you Maybe you can keep you focal point more centered too as I use cc to read it and slow down to playback...lol Awesome thank you

      They're $3.99 at Hobby Lobby and with the 40% off coupon it brings it down to $2.40 each. They have super cute ones too, white, tan, grey and black and even a pretty multicolored rainbow one! Or like suggested you can buy faux fur fabric from even Walmart to make your own. Many tutorials on youtube on how to make them but you basically cut a circle, sew it with the basic under/over stitch, stuff it with polyfil, then tighten your thread to close the circle which makes a ball 😁

    Hello. Excellent tutorial.
    I have a question from anyone or if you have time.
    I understand this well, the technical part of creating a cable. The stitches etc.
    Moving along very nicely
    I am not clear with the what. Not the how.
    Please just clarify if you will.
    How many rows of front post and cabling rows are required
    That’s all I need 🙏🏼
    Example at your review- I think end of row 7 23.00 etc.
    you wrapped up and then stated now go ahead until you get to 15 crosses ?
    This is not being fresh.
    But but Go ahead and do What?
    Should I do 4 rows of front post. Then one row of cabling.
    Until I have 15 cables ?
    That’s sll I need clarified.
    Re winding doesn’t help me. As I am not trying to learn how to do the stitches.
    I am unclear on sequence. I hope my query makes sense
    Can you Or anyone please help. Thanks.

    • @FiberTheory
      @FiberTheory  3 года назад

      The crosses I’m speaking of are the cable rows. You do a cable row, and then you work the rows without cabling for about 4 rows I think, and then you make another cable row. So I thing there are 5 different rows in the body of the hat that are cable rows. It would be best if you had the written pattern to follow because it’s all explained in there.

    Hi! I just finished this and the holes between the post double crochet and the 3rd front post double crochet (to make the twist) are really noticeable. Is it because my stitches are too lose? Should I try using a smaller hook next time? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I’m still very new to the world of crochet but I’m loving it! Thank you in advance!

    • @FiberTheory
      @FiberTheory  Год назад

      Hi there. Starting out it could be an issue for you. I would have to see how you made the cables. So long as the cables are made according to the directions, you should be fine. In any case, there will be spaces. That is how cables work. As long as the gaps aren’t too big you’ll be fine. But gaps on either side of the cable is normal. Does the hat fit correctly? If so, you won’t have to come down or go up in hook size.
      I hope this helps. Happy crocheting!

      @@FiberTheory thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I sent a picture to a bunch of other crochet people on the internet and they said it looks fine haha. Hi there. I have another pattern for this same hat that’s a bit smaller and fits a child, but you can also just change the crochet hook size down to achieve the size you need. If it calls for a size I, go down to an H, and stick with the 4 ply worsted weight yarn the video calls for. I hope this help.

    • @FiberTheory
      @FiberTheory  2 года назад +2

      Hi! So sorry about that. It could be that you crochet a little tighter. You can do one of two things. Either go up a size on the hook and follow the pattern, or using the hook size in the pattern/video, just add six more rows of sc’s before sewing the ends in the round, and then you should have no trouble. Let me know if this works for you. 😇

    Omg. I got it. I finally. I had to just stop and watch. NOT DO
    it’s cabling. Then 3 rows then cabling. I’m ready to finish. I hope I am right.

    • @FiberTheory
      @FiberTheory  3 года назад

      You will work a cable row, and then for three or four rows after that, you just work the stitches as they are. Then you will have another cable row. That is what creates the next twist or cross in the row. It’s the same repeat for 4 or 5 rows. Your best bet would be to get the written pattern where it’s all explained, and I show you how to do the cable rows and then each row after that. The written pattern and the video were made to be used together if you need it.

    I make turbins for cancer patients but I'm tired of the old beanie style or anything complicated do you have any ideas?

    • @FiberTheory
      @FiberTheory  2 года назад

      Hi. Well there are many videos and websites that show how to make cancer patients. I’d look at those. I do know that cancer hats have to be made a certain way, so I would have to look up those specs and design something. I don’t think you can go wrong with a basic single crochet or half double crochet beanie though.
      I wish you the best!

      Hi there. Your message was dropped in my spam folder for some reason! I'm so glad I checked it! Really, what I would do is play around with the hook sizes at this point. I think if you went up to a size J hook, you would probably be fine. Your gauge would change and you wouldn't have to worry about the math. If the math is really important.. you would need to make sure that your band 72 rows.. and then make sure to add 12 extra dc's into the first row of the body. Then you will have the right amount of stitches to make your cables come out correctly. Good luck!

    How do you increase the number of rows? Is there a specification that it needs to be in 6 or 12? :)

    • @celestelim1582
      @celestelim1582 4 года назад

      Saw that you said that it’s possible to increase to 12 rows! And add 12 more D’C in the first row. Does the increase in every 10 stitches still apply

    • @FiberTheory
      @FiberTheory  4 года назад

      Hi! Yes.. just make the band the size you need and then in the body, make sure you have multiples of 6. Your cables have 4 stitches and there are 2 bpdc’s between a cable. You can make it slouchy as you want it by increasing my 6 stitches in the body... as long as you follow the basic pattern, you will be fine.

    what are the finished measurements please?

    • @FiberTheory
      @FiberTheory  3 года назад

      Hi thank you for your question! This hat fits heads 22-25 inches around. The finished hat, if measured across, should measure about 18”. It will of course determine how you crochet. Right crocheters will have a smaller hat, loose crocheters will have a bigger hat. It’s best to make sure your band measures 18” across before you sew it up for this hat. If you need a smaller version, I also have this video. I hope this helped answer your question.
