Sara Ramirez performed a tearjerking rendition of “Over the Rainbow” at the WorldPride 2019 Opening Ceremony at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. She was joined by guitarist, Sondra Woodruff and 26 national #LGBTQ+ organizers selected to be her #WorldPride2019 luminaries, including #Guyanese #Queer & #Muslim Human and #ImmigrantRights activist, Mohamed Q. Amin.

I hope Sara records this version because it's just incredible, what a beautiful beautiful voice. I was there at the opening ceremony and the homage to this song was so moving. Thank you to everyone that fought and keeps fighting for equality and freedom for all.

This song is a very special song to me. I never knew they covered it and as soon as I heard it I burst into tears. Sara is my role model, my hero, I live by the lessons they teach and I use them to become a better person. I love this so much.
