Close your eyes and listen carefully, you can precisely hear EACH instrument.... specifically the horn section, stringed instruments, guitar, bongos, bass guitar, keys, percussion section... THOSE HORNS, listen good and ALL keys, that Harp.... can you hear what I hear? Sheer genius!!!
Actually! When you’re in love with music, that’s what you have to do. But, you have to be careful of what you’re listening to also. Back in the days, radio always played the instrumentals first then blend in the lyrics.
DAMN....this was too complex of a song to be let out in '76....freaking genius and nothing today compares to this. Layers and the layers of sensuality.
I'm hip! Right on brother!!!!!!!!! However, as a very young lady back than, we ladies went Crazy over Marvin's song: "Distant Lover" Therere was no other song ever, not even today, that can put us ladies in the mood that Marvin did with that song, especially the live version! And, to add to his credit there is no other Albumn not even today that can top his: "What's going on Albumn" if a trillion years go by! He was a true Genious when he wrote and produce that one. Berry Gordy turn him down and told Marvin that people did not want to hear a song about war. The biggest mistake of Berry's Motown Career life. @@OjanMusic used to chat with Uncle Leon on his website. Here's the direct quote "Actually I'd written it as a vocal album for myself, but I was pleased to have Marvin sing my songs. @OJAN So I take it that he was speaking of the entire album. That's why I was saying that he was serious about the project; it was his love letter to Jan.

First heard this exact track, a Motown promotion track, at Edinburgh ABC cinema in 1976.. I went out and bought the album from the record store. It still sounds fantastic!
This song and Michael Jackson's Human Nature are the only two perfectly recorded songs I have ever heard. I don't think either of them could have gone back and recorded the songs better, wrote better lyrics, or been produced any better. They are both timeless records.
Not symbol the artist formally known as?... I hope....lol (prince was a g still)...I was only kidding elvie.x...genius..we miss you Marvin g... and the brother p.r.i.n.c.e..deep humans......x..
I did a lesson on this when I taught middle school. I used the Ecology song, X-Factor and Mama Said to prove a point if perspective for social issues which plague our lives regardless of age. My reflection of the world, abusive relationships, and parental wisdom were the themes used. It was the most proud lesson of content (at least to me) I had done.

Thank you so much for posting this! I have been looking for this version for a long time. I had it and then lost it. The other instrumentals are different.
I am willing to let God and the mystetious ways! No talking necessary the heart understands that everybidy is not perfect all the time so to be you is just fine, be kind to yourself, not so hard on yourself,
The sonic density is just amazing to this track. It is the flip side or B-side as it was known (on the 45) release and only got airplay personally as no radio stations would play a track without vocals or one of this length...
Let me say this because it is very much worth noting: Ray Parker, Jr. is on rhythm guitar here. Though it was a major hit, I can't let Ghostbusters be even remotely considered a creative high-water mark for Ray. IWY is but one example of a major musical genius to whom credit is due.
