I have not had any issues watching RUclips, Netflix or any other streaming service through the speaker. There’s no lag whatsoever. The battery life though is only good if I have it playing low or medium volume. I can get through an entire 8 hour shift. But if I’m blasting it at max volume, I get maybe 4 to 4 and a half hours. It’s still a good speaker for the price.

I've had it since last summer, I take it to the beach regularly, battery life is solid, sound is very good! Love it! Had the Flip 4 but it lost connection really frequently so I bought the 5.
I actually highly recommend to buy two so you can pair them together. It's like having a surround sound stereo. I was happy with one but I wanted another to see how it was with two...not disappointed at all!!!
Why didn’t you mention the fact that there is a mic on the flip 4?? And the fact that partyboost is not compatiable with the older flip 4, charge 4, etc.?? And that it is mono (flip5) instead of stereo (flip 4)?? I would recommend a flip 4 or a wonderboom, and an anker soundcore flare for a cheaper option.
I just got one to use at work and I find the battery life to be fine for my purposes nd the volume is insane. I looked at some Bose products, but their reviews were poor and they are a lot more expensive, so I went with this and I like it a lot.
2:57 I was under the impression the partyboost link feature allowed for having stereo sound by linking two of these mono speakers. Hardly a waste of space if that's true.
Warning: DO NOT charge the Flip 5 by using the cigarette lighter socket in your car. I didn't realize that the output voltage from that is about 12V, much higher that the 5V/3A recommended for charging this speaker. I essentially "fried" mine and voided the warranty. This warning is in the manual too, the print of which was too small for me to even notice. Otherwise, it was an excellent speaker while it lasted!
An update: On the off chance that JBL would honor the warranty on my dead Flip 5 (it was only about 4 months old), I spoke to customer support from my online vendor. They told me that charging from a car's cigarette lighter socket shouldn't have had any adverse impact to the unit whatsoever and that it's totally fine to do this. So it's possible I didn't fry mine and that it was just a fluke with the unit. After submitting a warranty request with Harman International, they went ahead and sent me a return label for the old one are sending me a new one. That said, I don't think I would try it again. So, let me amend my previous comment to say "Do it at your own risk!".

@@mtejada1 the flip 5 is a mono speaker and it's not compatible with jbl connect +. The flip 4 has an incredibly good sound for this size of speaker, it's for me the best jbl after the xtreme 2 and next to the charge 3
I don't see it mentioned much in reviews, but the flip 5 will connect in stereo if you have 2, which makes a much clearer sound. It also makes it so you can have the volume a little lower. I bought 2 flip 5s a few months ago and love them.

Owned the Flip 4 new since it came out, used it literally every day as a remote speaker for my laptop at work and simultaneously as a hand-free speaker for my phone. After watching this video and looking at the comparisons to the newer Flip 5 and can't see the logic in "upgrading" to less feature and overall same audio performance.
I mean I like your review but, It's nowhere close to an outdoor speaker 💀, and there's no need to have lights or a different color on the buttons on the side because you can feel exactly which one you want to use trust.

Its The CS version.. considering there are 3 version of JBL flip 5, The CS, GG, TL which considerably Had different Waterproofing durability, Sound performance and the bass which is weird. The flip 5 CS version Are colors Black, White, ETC Is gonna be the best in waterproofing, floats in water but terrible on sound and The drivers are made in plastic. GG, Colors are Black, White Camo, Camo, ETS Is in the middle btween these two It sinks But slowly and Its the bassy one. The driver is made on rubbery plastic TL version color, Tommorowland edition, Grey, ETC Is the best On sound, More clearer and Punchier, a bit less on bass But It isnt good on waterproofing considering the driver is made out of paper.. but its still waterproof dont worry, It sinks immediately though.
I own 2 flip5s because my car is old and I use them as my primary way of listening to music. I can say, I do enjoy the speakers and I do connect the two so its louder and does sound good when I'm working and I put 1on bothsides of the room. My issue is I do feel the audio quality did drop off my first one after about 3 months and when I first used my new one it did sound better. It's not horrible but I did notice it automatically. Still worth the purchases
Fr my own experience with JBL, it's not built to last. Bought 200+ bux JBL UA earphone, battery died, rubber came off, cable 1 sided sound within 1 yr JBL flip 4 and 5, battery died within 1year plus, rubber on speaker damaged making horrible sound All in all I won't buy JBL again, sound is ok but there are better ones out there. quality is cheapo I have UE speakers 5years on, battery strong, sound strong, sounds better too
Picked up one at best Buy and it sounds great for a single room 🎉 I play mostly EDM genres thru it but other kinds of music 🎶 like bad religion and the offspring sounds great , JBL makes awesome products 💯
I use Jbl speakers and headphones both for work, travel and leasure time, great quality and build 😎 the Flip 5 is great for parties, small gathering or just for listening on your patio with a drink! Most if not all genre's of music sound great with the Flip 5 bt speaker 😉

Just bought a flip 5. I noticed that there is definitely an audiovisual lag; so I went ahead and updated the firmware, and the lag is not noticeable now. Can you check if this fixed it?
I wish it had Bluetooth 5.0, but it has usb type c. Lost my Sony so got this as a replacement. Really bummed about the youtube audio not syncing.. I will get a cheaper bt5.0 speaker in a bit to compensate.
JBL has obviously gone downhill in terms of longevity, etc... the speaker as soon as I bought it, had never even lasted 5 hours, they claim it can last 12.the flip 5 just stopped working after having it for only less than 6 months, it's never been dropped,etc... I thought that when I bought this that paying the extra money to get a supposedly well respected brand would be worth the extra money, I was obviously wrong, I have no faith in ever buying another JBL speaker again, guess I'll have to find another brand now!

I know it seems petty, but would it really sink? I’ve seen other reviews saying that it would, and I’d think with sealed air in it, it would probably float. Totally a small gripe tho. Other than that, I just got one of these and I’m liking what I’m hearing so far!

No, it doesn't, only serves for charging the speaker, not for audio jack or charging other devices

I bought one... and one day later bought a second one to run them in stereo mode. For the price of 69€ each, I can't imagine choosing anything else.
