Thanks for making these guides. Rick was my secondary in the beta and I was having a hard time getting readjusted to him when the game officially dropped. Now that the swap neutral and input buffer options have been added I can start getting better with him.
Appreciate you for sharing how to use portals. I was top 100 with Rick in beta but wrote him off bc I thought he wasn’t allowed to place a single portal. I’m so excited to play him when I get home today!!!

Directional input can have a big effect. If someone keeps doing their di in it can be hard to get portal to connect. I would lab it a lot so u know when portal will connect based on the angle they are flying. It’s even better to practice it in unranked. At higher percents I find it a bit easier to get consistent portals.

If u want to place one portal without entering you can tap side special 2 times quickly while in the air. I believe you are forced to go through portal when second one is placed.
Jab jab insta portal does not seem to work for me. It does of i finish the combo out with the rocket but without that my portal is always to far out from the enemy
Your opponents percent and di definitely come into play here. I have a much easier time getting jab 1 into jab 2 into portal at mid to higher percents. It can be difficult at low percents especially if they are holding in.
This might just be a skill issue of my part but most of the times i try to do a portal combo just as you say how to do it with instant portal command it doesn't work because the enemy doesn't receive enough knockback or he goes up so i can't use the portal fast enough, do you have any tips to help me with that

I have been learning so much about Rick in the past 2 weeks and I am constantly am learning new stuff especially with portal. To get portal to connect on di in is a bit hard at first but if u can land it a few times it’s easy to repeat. U just have to hold side special and pull in as quick as possible.
You need to let people know how DI is effecting portal. If opponent is DI in after jab two instant portal will never confirm. To always get portal to confirm after jab two you need to bring portal slightly in.

ive discovered that the big portal also have the same effect if theyre in hitstun and it creates a portal in your location and TPs the opponent right next to you, ive labbed that you can set up a big portal behind them and shoot a projectile to knock them into the portal, and if they do something like dodge you can catch them with a fair, i wanna keep labbing but the xbox version of this game is complete ass and it lags like hell
You input the direction u want to send portal and special at the exact same time. The timing is a little weird at first but once you get it down a couple times it’s easy to repeat.
@@zf10studios52 to get the enemy to be pulled to the portal you have to line it up with them and they also have to be in hitstun. If they aren’t in hitstun it will send you through portal

I’m having trouble trying jab jab portal because I go through the portal (like a recovery) instead of my opponent coming back to where I’m standing

The input for portal is side special. I believe default would be B on an Xbox controller. I would go into your settings to make sure

You can't shoot only one portal unless you wait it out in the air unfortunately.
