Not quite ready to commit to another racing game, I found Slow Roads to scratch that corner-navigating itch that's slowly been bubbling up since Dirt Rally 2 all those years ago. - Игры
Not even a minute into the game and i've managed to launch my sedan into low earth orbit. Truly a relaxing driving experience.
I need to know how you did that.

Man there is something about just driving which is very calming.
I remember half the fun in any GTA game I played was just driving around the town
yep and also exploring the interiors, culture of that era etc
it gives off a weird nostalgic feel, like it's something you probably do in your daily life but yet it's nice to sit back, play some calming music and just virtually drive, it's kind of like sleeping
@@pold111 yeah using taxis in those games are pretty relaxing
I find it hard to find driving in GTA V relaxing, with the NPCs cursing at you every other second.
@@oktayyildirim2911 GTA SA had way worse AI for driving lol
Dude I watch your videos every lunch period, I got a bit screwed over this semester and have no friends in my lunch. I also have no head phones for my iPhone right now and your videos being subbed is a life savior. Thank you 1 million Philip!
I hope you situation improves soon.
Saddest shit I've ever heard
Hope things get better for you
@@terry2295 I got my friends next semester in lunch! I go to a school with 3000+ kids so this stuff happens.

That iphone dongle life :(
I still have an s10 and it's starting to get a little slow, battery life is getting a little rough, and I kind of fear the day I have to get a new phone because pretty much none of them have headphone jacks anymore :/
@@t1ckin73 Ok 3k people is a ton I went to a school with about 300 some odd people.
There is a reason why the driving simulator genre is so popular on steam. It's just relaxing as it gets.
The pleasure of going somewhere and looking at the scenery changing
I love to take peaceful relaxing driving games and just bomb down the roads like a maniac
Ah yes, beamng. The game that is very relaxing until you understeer and crash for the 50th time
imagine a game like this but more in the style of art of rally, that would be endlessly addicting imo
I meam Horizons is a game thats pretty fun for just driving. Sure its got all the casino flashyness to make people race but sits often fun to just endlessly drive
Just search art of rally i think it is what you want
exactly my thoughts!
@@mynameisntpatrick1476 i enjoy horizon just for that really, that and tuning cars. the progression and racing itself in the game is mediocre at best
@@s4muka11 i literally mentioned art of rally in my original comment haha
I love simple open world driving games. My favorite was Fuel. I used to cruise around for hours on that. The map was so big that you could organize road trips with your friends and spend the next couple of hours driving from one corner of the map to the other.
I wish there was a modern equivalent of Fuel, like games with maps so big you could sink 1000 hours and still find something new, maybe make it a Car-pg (kinda like the Mad Max game) so people are encouraged to explore, and not to mention they did all that on a PS3 and X360, imagine how big can we go on modern current hardware
@@Namiz00 You maby wanna try out "The Crew" or its succesor "The Crew 2". Ubisoft build the entire United States (not to scale tho, but it will take you ca 30mins from coast to coast straight driving), and 14 yo. me spent hours just driving the highways, visiting famous landmarks or partitonating in races that lastet up to an hour.
@@dernotarzt5549 i know that exists, but i felt like it wasnt really a true to the spirit of FUEL, because FUEL's map was actually huge, even bigger than some countries and one of my defining map features is that it was fictional, which means people are more eager to explore every crevices of the map because its all unknown, and thats also why i wanted a bit of RPG elements to it, so that theres even more reason to explore the entire map, even if it might take an hour to get there
Fuel is the one xbox 360 game I own that I want to treasure for as long as I can... it's so good for long drives! Man I wish it came out on pc... or was remastered :)
@@eeeeric1966 Fuel came out on PC, it's still in my Steam library.

I have a rtx 3050 and ryzen 5500u laptop (technically my mom's) but I only play Roblox on it and recently overwatch 2, although planning to pirate games like ghost recon wildlands and stuff (yes, pirate)
it's kinda satisfying just putting it in autodrive and watching it go
that would be so cool as like a screensaver or something
The sound of the vehicle is also very calming as well. Love the sound of the electric motor and the sound of the wheels rolling over the surface.
truly one of the games ever
What a fun and original comment
@@monochr0m a bit of thursday afternoon fun!
found the 15 year old who thinks he's hilarious
Ahh I had the same feeling in a little flight game called “Flight Simulator Screensaver”. A big empty world and only me and my jet for explore everything. You can go insanely fast, you can’t crash and also can’t do anything wrong. I loved it!
always wanted something like this. Would always load up vice city just to drive around as a kid. The only thing to capture the feel is to make a built in radio
If you're looking for a game that's kind of like this have a look at test driven unlimited 2, you can drive around freely on both o'ahu and Ibiza with a wide variety of cars. It requires a community patch to get running on modern windows but it still plays well after that. Also available PS3 and Xbox 360 where it's still just insert DVD and off you go.
It does have actual races, but those are all fairly simple and the AI isn't the best so you can cheese a lot of things.
You can go fast or slow on me anytime philip
🤨
"You can change which planet you're driving on" I'm immediately sold see everyone in a few months
its been 11 months, u back yet?
You should try the BeamNG too, even youtube suggests the game below the video :D Testing its game engine possibilities, like the matrix demo, the traffic spawning amount and dx11 vs experimental vulkan renderer testing with your latest system might be a cool video.
This!
mom can i have beamNG?
no we have beamNG at home
beamNG at home:
Such a simple, calming and positive video to watch after a long day of work, thanks for uploading this :]
Slow roads is truly a hidden gem
This looks like a nice chillax game to do at the end of some hard work. No challenges, no grind, just...drive.
This game is similar to another game I've been a bit addicted to called The Long Drive. I love just open world style driving, exploring and seeing what's about!
Absolutely! The only thing I wish was that the cars were a little more controllable, with fewer rocks in the road. Having to be constantly aware and on edge makes it hard for the game to be relaxing
The fact that all the cars are soviet era makes it even better
I've been looking for something like that game for years, just driving and chilling with no purpose or stress ahead, tysm for introducing it to me, Philip, and ofc the precious dev from the pinned comment too for making this minimalistic masterpiece of game dev art lol
This brought back memories of a much older flash game called "2D Driving Simulator" by Geoquake (now "Frame Synthesis"). It has a similar concept, there's a map and you drive around without any objective. I even made a video about it a long time ago. I think these types of games will inspire a lot of kids growing up now to fall in love with driving.
It kind of reminds me of that one Gorillaz flash game where you'd just drive around with a Gorillaz tune in the background. Just a simple freedom really, the feeling of exploring is amazing when it's done to this extent. And this is why you're one of my must-watch content creators on here.
Do you mean this one? ruclips.net/video/-smpPi6R398/видео.html
YES! The 19-2000 game, Gorillaz Final Drive
Hell yea, there it is :D
I honestly expected a really simple game going in I was genuinely suprised by how many features there are, kind of overwhelming at first
This is amazing. I have a huge love for New York City and been using GTA IV as a driving simulator for years now.
I'm very glad to see others find this meditative peace in virtual driving to, thanks for sharing!
This is a brilliant little tech demo showing off the developers' skills.
It showcases modeling, art, terrain, lighting, sound, AI, interface, physics, all in one little game.
What is the AI in this game?
@@sonnytrinh3370 autodrive. you can use it at top speed and the AI will drive the car with perfect driving lines at max speed.
the landscape gives me huge rome total war vibes, love it
Love the great change of pace from all the cutting edge tech videos philip! I always love these light hearted videos sprinkled in!
Reminds me of a very similar game way back in the early 2000's, I remember it being first person, time stuck at midnight and the only traffic was a Hummer H1 and a Dodge Viper every so often
I've always wanted a game where you could just drive about in the real world. No challenges or time limits, just free reign like flight simulator. I'd love to do a speedrun from Lands End to John O Groats.
That could be really amazing.
But the ground modelisation is not good enough for that for the moment.
That's basically what crew 2 was for me
There's a free roam mode in Euro Truck Simulator 2, although the scale of Europe is more like 1 to 20 than the 1:1 representation of the Earth like in Flight Simulator. I love that you can choose radio stations from all over Europe to listen to while you're driving.
@@elimalinsky7069 ETS2 is amazing but the highways and cities get pretty repetitive and lack life.
@@elimalinsky7069 euro truck simulator also makes you drive a truck though :( different experience from a car or a bike
I've seen this game before as a demo in ThreeJS, when starting out developing 3D graphics for the web. The stability of physics and its minimalistic look really amazed me.
This game is amazing! Kudos to the devs for optimising it.
Games with no objective, just driving or whatever is often nice to just relax to.
Rider's Republic felt great to just snowboard off a mountain, chilling and zoning out.
When the EA Battlefield series started back in the early 2000's all i would do is drive around the maps in a jeep when everyone else was fighting, sometimes i would take the jeep to the highest point on the map and look down my sniper scope, then hop back in the jeep. When Battlefield Vietnam came out in 03? all the jeeps had radios with 60s soundtracks, i would drive around the jungle playing tamla motown hits.
Reminds me of a car driving game from when unity was still new and I was amazed by how much better in looks than shockwave 3D games did at the time.
Oh man I think I remember this also! Was sometime around 2009 when I played it, you could add it as a widget to the dashboard in macOS
anyone else get a unsetled feeling playing the game, like when u change it to night feels like somthing will jump out. or if your driving through the water you are just waiting for a fish to gobble you up
Usual Philip's diamond content 🏜️🏞️🌄🌌
This is a blessing, thank you RUclips recommendations
I feel like browser games are underrated in the modern age
Gamepad support, better tires, and a Dirt Rally style codriver would make this EPIC
Man I love it when the bike reaches 130 mph while on boost
Thanks i was just thinking about how flash games died and it's nice to be shown a 20 min time waster like this
we need more games like this
Good job now you understand the simple thing that makes a car guy
This seems like my normal drive to work, I'm already in love with it
The Long drive is also a great chill driving game.
It would be kind of cool if it was possible to see other players driving along.
Brings back my urge to get back into three.js very cool find.
Driving without missions, or fast stunts in these open world racing simulators was legit relaxin', & theurpatic.
it's so cute that you covered this and the dev saw it
I love this, you should cover more of this free relaxing browser games niche
one of the best youtubers, coming through with some good stuff once again
Gave this a little play immediately. Loved it, thanks for sharing
This is basically what it looks like to drive from Banff to Jasper in Canada. Mountain side on the right, lakes on the left with mountains in the distance. Long windy roads and nothing but a glorious view fo rmiles.
I've been loving your 2kliksphilip upload spree. Keep up the good work!
remember quake live you could jump in play a few games and jump out in a matter of seconds.
i use to play that game every day for hours on end, but as soon as they shut it down and moved to steam i quit playing because it's so much easier and faster to click a bookmark and instantly gets placed inside of a game. rip quakelive best browser game ever game
I'm so glad I came across this video in my recommendations. "io" games are generally fun but I've never thought of an endless smooth-running driving game! I love driving games and this one looks so good yet graphic wise not to heavy, to actually enjoy racing and relaxing at the same time. Thank you for this video again! 🙂
Finally, my backup chrome book does something cool
I've been doing this on the new WRC Generations. I know you're a fan of Dirt, but something about the environments on WRC Generations just feels so lively and real. Many stages are 20km+. I just pick one, turn off co-driver and HUD, and just drive "slowly" for a half hour enjoying the views. Then I try it again at night with fog. It's just nice.
You also learn how your car feels and become a better driver when you back to timing yourself, imo.
Thanks for bring attention to the game. its very fun
another thing that i like about this game is that, if you have a racing wheel plugged into your computer, you can even set up the controller settings to use the inputs of your wheel for driving
I have never seen your channel before. The algorithm obviously decided this was the perfect screensaver for my iPad (autodrive works!) so thank you for making this video.
The variance in landscape is what I hope The Long Drive might achieve, given a bit of a visual overhaul.
I love that game, but the actual terrain doesn't change much at all.
Finally, I have found my ideal game
i've been playing this at school since they haven't blocked it yet, such a nice way to kill some spare time. its a lot of fun to learn how to drift and go fast despite the game's name!
Glad RUclips recommended this!
I sometimes get the urge to just drive around in a game. The only games that could provide the experience I'm looking for were the 2 newer forza horizons but downloading 150gb for 2 days of driving around a bit never fealt like it was worth it. This little game is proving perfect for what I want, just driving down a long road and without spending hours downloading and installing games! Thank you Philip and great work on the part of the dev!
Literally become takumi being a thing you can do is great!
I remember being blown away by being able to play flash games on my old windows xp pc, now look at this, we've come a long way
Thanks so much for making this short but sweet video, and introducing me to an amazing game! I'm sure I will waste many, relaxing, hours playing this!
i burned my eye turning on the winter setting.
this news will be detrimental to my productivity in IT lessons
this game is great. i immediately loaded up and my brain echoed remember me by leslie parrish in the back of my head
especially driving at night.
immediate 10/10 just for having a monotracer!
Truly one of the slowest roads of all time.
Massively appreciate the captions, thank you!
My new favorite game to play in class! Hell yeah!
so far i've found it a great game to drift to. turn up the road complexity, lower the tire grip to .8, and lower the speed (power) of the car to .6. set the time to night and you've got an endless touge drift game!!
heck why i like snowrunner so much.
Snowrunner on road driving sucks. Even previous Mudrunner had way better driving physics
While I really really miss the nice roar of a traditional engine, the EV having a quiet hum adds to the relaxed vibe. The game also surprisingly supports my PS4 controller!
Finally a worthy test for your 4090!
The physics in this game are absolutely fantastic!
Here within the hour. The RUclips algorithm has blessed you with my view, and I might have to try this game just for the lulz.
Unrelated: I miss Offroad Velociraptor Safari.
I often took jobs in Euro Truck Simulator and never completed them, opting to drive my truck until my character decides to fall asleep at the wheel. I was immediately pulled towards the premise of this game. I may check it out!
I am easily 1000s of miles in by now. God I love this game
It's so chill and simple
I wish I could download it, I get shocking performance in the browser. It looks absolutely beautiful.
make sure u have hardware acceleration enabled! that can improve performance. I think the dev is working on a potential Steam release though (to offset the large server costs haha)
@@mortuseon how do i do that, i get rubbish performance on browser in general (eg: sketchfab and mixamo slow my computer to a halt, whereas i can use models in blender at 60fps).

I would kill to have this sort of map generation in The Long Drive
As a Scot myself I absolutely hated when the planet of Mars stole our Road signs, now I dont have a clue where I'm going.
Man, I wish this game would have existed 10-15 years ago. I would have spent 100s of hours just driving, creating scenarios in my head and goofing about. I'm sure I'll still do that, but not for nearly as long.
I (sometimes) know the new big thing when I see it and this feels like one of them (I think)
