A game like this is a dream come true. Playing an actual Pokemon origin story has been a childhood dream for most of us and now we finally get to explore that very dream
so a basic semi-openworld RPG that slaps the name "pokemon" is a dream come true? this is why pokemon fans needs to take a step back and open their eyes to notice how late their games has been for years, even some people has made better"fan games" or like monster hunter stories 2... or whatever... this is still just a basic RPG that has the pokemon tagged to it nothing more nothing extreme, nothing special and nothing new
I'd say that this game should be the way Pokemon games should be handled going forward... They can still have gyms but still give us wide expasnive worlds with sidequests that are fun and engaging, giving us more reason to play and to continue playing.
I dk why but I really like the Shinto inspired interactions with Pokemon being highlighted in this game more than any other, they could be seen as nature spirits mainly in the noble Pokemon fight
@@austincarter9846 Indeed, and with the Hisui/Sinnoh region being based on the island of Hokkaido, that means that Hisui is Meiji-era Hokkaido... just like _Golden Kamuy._ I wonder if that means there'll be a quest involving finding stolen gold.

Exploration and catching/evolving pokemon are my favorite parts of the mainline games, so I'm really excited that this one is focused on those aspects! I hope the title sells well to warrant more installments as a series, like a Victorian style Galar region

@@javaruscarstarphen4062 Yep, I agree. Keep the mainlines as the easier, familiar experience and have the Legends series for people who prefer this more action oriented experience. I've got a couple hours into the game. I was skeptical at first but I have loved it so far. This feels like what Sword and Shield should have been. I hope they stick with this formula for the future.
I'm 20 hours into it, and it is one of the best pokemon games yet. The way the pokedex works, and the accessibility to crafting your own items are huge benefits to the game. And the animations.. Holy smokes, the pokemon feel more alive than ever before, when one of your pokemon gets withdrawn after no HP, the enemy pokemon will look right at you like 'what're you gonna do huh?' And the Alpha pokemon are a legit threat and make you tip toe around using as much stealth as you can.
Looks very promising! It's really refreshing for a Pokémon game to allow me to wander and explore and ride monsters around and study the natural ecology of the area. This was the game younger me would have really wanted. The fact that I'm a huge Zelda: BotW fan doesn't hurt too - this game is right up my alley.

@@resetedanchorpure WHAT, for free?! That's crazy, maybe they had someone on the inside or someone buy it for them like wow, but still pretty exciting to play it soon
The game is amazing. there is a lot of content, many challenges, unlockables and plenty to explore. It has a ton of similarities to Breath of the Wild, but it does feel more like Pokemon. It was designed in a way that makes sense for kids while giving a lot to challenge adults. The biggest flaw is that there is way too much dialogue. I usually like to read the story, when I play games but I had to mash A. It is just too much, they really could have condensed it. The game was leaked and can be played with a switch emulator. I preordered the game and plan on replaying it all on the switch. If anyone reading this emulates the game I encourage you to preorder/buy it and support the development teams. :)
i loved that they ditched ivs and evs completely for introducting effort levels , effort levels can be gained using items and is really easy to make your pokemon strong, all you need is right nature. This means even if you can a pokemon late game it can as strong as your pokemon from the start. one thing did not love tho is item limit in your bag
Its gonna be super exciting. For some people and content creators who got the game earlier and stream it online early are just being greedy and can't stand the patience. How pathetic. They are breaking Nintendo's trust about spoilers which is against there policy.
I'm split about the game, I actually love that pokémon tries this sort of game. A lot of the mechanics and features look really interesting and cool, I love a lot of things they decided on, but from what I've seen in videos I'm a little dissapointed with how the world looks, it looks bland and lifeless/empty and the graphics don't look as nice. But maybe I was just hoping too much for the same lively, atmospheric and beautiful world of Breath of the wild, but with Pokémons. Still bought it and still going to play it though, the downsides don't outweigh the negatives for me imo. Also I'll have to actually play the game for a proper judgement
Even if there are tiny problems with the game, I'm still super happy with it because it means a new expectation has been set for Pokemon. There are small blemishes, but so what? It's one small step for gaming, one huge leap for Pokemon. If people support the idea with their wallets, imagine the NEXT game made like this. It has the potential to grow into the best video gaming series in the world if tended correctly.
I feel like this time they can KINDA be excused for the graphics, they made so many new things between animations, new mechanics and models i can understand it a bit. At least it's not like swsh. I feel like a different shader could make the game looks so much better
@@mikrokosmochi That said, a lot of animations are still reused from previous games. I'd say it'll be easier to judge the visuals after the game's been out for a week or so.

Pokemon, even do it's not fully own by Nintendo, has recently been trying to change. I believe all the Pokemon Switch games were a test run for this game. To test fan reception, engine function, and what works and what not on a console game. But we all agree Nintendo really needs a powerful console. A game like this is a dream come true. Playing an actual Pokemon origin story has been a childhood dream for most of us and now we finally get to explore that very dream

Even though it feels empty and repetitive (playing it on Friday may feel a lot different) from the trailers, hopefully game freak uses this as the foundation for future games as the concept and play style is good and refreshing. I also really like the new take on battles, no gimmick, but something (style) that evolves the original battle system. Will look forward to this.
I am intrigued for this game, and really want it to be good, but the subpar borderline bad visuals really put me off, which is a shame really. I sincerely hope this game magically has a visual facelift by the time Friday rolls around.
@@danielarputharaj9918 not sure what kind of visuals you expect from a Switch game, but these look pretty good. On par, if not better than, BotW.
After playing it, i keep finding myself getting relieved when i finally get into an empty area with few pokemon, damn those “crowded” area is brutal, the murderous intent of those pokemon....
@@SirSiegrist thats looks awful compared to BOTW.
Everyone keeps saying it feels empty yet while playing, I feel like there's a lot. The space is needed when fighting and catching pokemon.
Finally. I think I was waiting for a game like this since GameCube. They tried but the technology was limited. Then they just forgot about it. I haven't really been following Pokemon games like before. I think since Emerald. I tried a bit the Platinum but didn't finish it. Then try to return in Switch and even do it's in 3D it still lacks something. Hopefully this game can return that Pokemon atmosphere. 🙏
That's a complete cop out. GTA 3 /vice city and Resident evil 4 all available back then. Nintendo have been incompetent for years on some of their amazing IPs.
@@SpiffingDay Nintendo tries to stay in their comfort zone. It has worked for some games but others do need improvement. Zelda took a risk with the open world and seems to be working. It should get even better in the next one. But they had forgot about Metroid and StarFox among others. Mario seems to be evolving fine. Pokemon, even do it's not fully own by Nintendo, has recently been trying to change. I believe all the Pokemon Switch games were a test run for this game. To test fan reception, engine function, and what works and what not on a console game. But we all agree Nintendo really needs a powerful console. Maybe find a way to adapt the Switch as an extension to a new Powerful Console at the level of Xbox & Playstation. Imagine having a powerful console with improved online servers plus having a Switch to make a game portable when you want. (Something likenthe WiiU Gamepad) Even if the quality or graphics decrease a little the main console will keep all it's functions.
Its the first time in years that I’ve looked forward to a Pokemon game. If its as good as it looks, I really hope to see similar content in future, main-line, pokemon games.
I am surprised how this looks good to anyone, it literally looks like the world is dead empty, at least whenever the character was flying or running around in a non enclosed space there was literally nothing to see all over
@@Nope-ln4yj literally! Why does it look like an early PS2 game??
@@Nope-ln4yj that's pretty standard for modern Pokémon games though, especially sw/sh. It's not perfect and I agree that it looks a bit barren, but it's a step in the right direction imo
@@deadb0d if that's pretty standard for modern Pokemon games it's the wrong direction, it's a 60€ game and I expect it to look like one
@@new0news can't talk it that down, the graphic looks better than that.
But it literally looks like the devs were like "let's make an open world feeling with a big world" despite not having enough to fill it
This game is making a grown man cry. As a lifelong fan, I can't wait.
This is sad but this game is honestly prolly just a test for gen 9 games
Please, make Pokémon in Portuguese
