Many years ago they were redoing a road down on the Texas Coast, and while doing it they straightened out a sharp curve & took out a bridge, then built another nearby. In doing this they decided to dredge out the Bayou for Flood Control. Found 17 cars in there that missed that original curve & went off in the Bayou. Some had bodies in them. (Yes,it was near a bunch of Beer Joints?) Some had been down there since the late '60s or early '70s they said?

There are relatively few drivers out there and hundreds of miles of shoreline so it would be very expensive and insensible to do that, and thieves will dump them wherever there is no barrier. Maybe it's time to put guardrails in on the worst spots on the levees, and speed bumps on the roads approaching intersections on levees.

No reason other than a power trip for vehicles to stay that long. You have volunteer civilian dive teams that will hook the car up and the recovery/tow company makes a nice sum on scrap value for compensation. For some reason some departments dont take kindly to free civilian help in one hand while crying about no funds to do it in the other.
