My childhood and some of the best years in rallying!
That era was the percfect mix of show, safety and speed.
I used to have a 2001 Volvo. Those cars do awesome in snow and ice. I could take a corner on snow packed streets doing 30-35 with no control problems. I used to do little rally racing type drifting in my neighborhood streets at 3 in the morning.
I went to Rally Great Britain in 1998 and 1999. Now looking at this grainy VHS footage makes me feel soooooo OLD loool

They use fully studded tyres on all four wheels. You wouldn't be able to go anywhere near that fast on non-studded tyres.
The fun thing is that the scandinavian rally-type studs grip about as good in any direction, so you can get truly insane slip angles with little loss of grip or traction.

2004: Loeb becomes first (and still only) non-Nordic driver to win this rally, and last year he became first non-Nordic driver to win Rally Finland twice. Epic driver!

I so wish they could run studs at Sno*Drift here in the US, especially last weekend since it was glare ice and there was no grip without studs.

@loolmannen Haha, that has nothing in coming with what I was saying - namely the fact that in the time 11:04-11:30 the video is from Rally Norway, not from norwegian stages of Rally Sweden :D Actually, Rally Sweden goes into Norway for only second time as far as I know...but anyway.

i think carbon ceramic brakes. Look at the sparks that come out.
Joel Tienstra could also be the studs ,spinning rubber alone on wet roads with my 205/75/14s make a funny bird tweet but its more of a belt sound because the tire itself is slapping the road

nascar dont race in rain or cold weather or or or .......rally does not care what happens.. they race no matter what. no caution because someone in the stands is drunk. no stands. you race in snow ice tarmac rain dry all in same stage in monte carlo.
nascar is so huge. and all they is go round and round. like they said on tv. its a great thing to do when your hammered. that is why it appeals. no one actually watches the action. everyone is so busy fighting with themselves and drunk.. they dont even pay attention to whats going on.
