  • Hello again, and welcome back.
This video is a bit different. It is not edited down, sped up with fancy music added, but merely a time line of 4 hrs condensed down to 1, in order to give you a peak into how you do this. It is riddled with "whops" and mistakes. There are so many great videos on RUclips that are edited perfectly, with elevator music added but as it seems everything goes perfect with no mistakes. Well, that is not how it is, and if you have followed my builds on other forums or social media platforms, you know that I show it all. Mistakes included, so you can learn from it or them. The whole case took just over 4 hrs. It will guide you through the concept from the beginning to the end, and I hope it will help guide you through this should you choose to try this yourself. The whole build can be viewed on two sites.

15:11 Could you pour your resin at this stage and use a grooved trowel to spread evenly?

You absolutely can. You just have to be careful to get the right amount of resin left, but if you have done this before and feel comfortable with a trowel they yes it is a lot faster actually. Just make sure you have enough resin left over and if your doing this on top of a layer already down, be careful not to torque the fabric that your laying the resin down on.

i imagine fiberglass would be pretty much the same method. how thick is your carbon fiber roll?

Glass is the same method. It does not wet as easy as carbon, have been my experience, but absolutely would be applied the same way. You gain a bit of weight and loose a bit of structural strength, but you can just add a layer or two if you feel the urge.
I dont know what the thickness of the roll is...perhaps 9 inches....10 maybe. The fiber is 6oz 6k, or 3k same weight, just more strands to make up the 6oz. It runs about $23 pr yard whereas you can get glass for under $5 @Yard, so significant savings for sure.
