I really love how much you both appreciate and reserve the area where you live and how your creating your house around that heritage. My husband and I feel the same way about our house and are trying to renovate it but also honour the traditional look of our house too. I find your videos about your house really inspirational. I very rarely comment on videos but I felt I Should this time. I have seen so many lovely but also so many mean comments on recent videos and on instagram and I wanted to leave a Nice message. I have been a follower for many years, I remember Ali before he ever went all in on RUclips. I remember the tiny closet stuffed to within an inch of its life, the small office and make up room, that was also Alis closet. so let's just say I have been here a while. Im currently 25, a student living in Germany. And for all the years that I have watched, I have never been able to purchase any of the things Lydia talks about or now designs. But even so even without the same budget, I have always enjoyed your videos. Your recommendations but also just your content and it makes me so sad and upset that people call, Lydia out of touch or whatever because some of the things she recommends or shows are expensive. To me that's growth, I don't measure in money or accomplishments I Measure growth, and it makes me so happy to know that I have contributed to Lydias Life, just as much a she has to mine. Yet non of it was ever monetary. So yea I love seeing you glow and be healthy! and I hope that one day you won't feel the need to apologize for saying words over and over again. Tip: buy a big slow cooker for chutneys, but also for stews, soups etc? You put éverything in, put it on high and in 6 hours it's ready. Safe, easy and delish. You could even put it outside (sheltered). Lóve mine!!

Hey Lydia, I wanted to share my love of tartan with you too. I collect kilts from all the clans, Aran wool, hats, gloves, coats. When I visited the highlands I dressed in head to foot in a red tartan vintage Scottish coat, red tartan hat, red tartan gloves. people would stare at me like wow that girl loves her tartan!! a few locals commented on how they hadn't seen a wool coat like this in years!! I'm now influencing my 2 daughters and its slowly creeping into the home decor. The 15 year old likes a few touches of tartan and the 11 year old wears tartan tops, and a few skirts. keep it coming Lydia. style never goes out of fashion as you well know. xxxxx

The Gordon tartan is really nice, the modern version is a lovely mix of greens. With most Scottish Tartans you get modem and ancient, so you get 2 options for the family name.

I absolutely love you Lydia and you were one of the ones who inspired me to start on RUclips. Love seeing you changing over the years. I know you can never win as us Scots always complain when we do something good we are British and when we do something bad we are Scottish, but in this case, the tartan is definitely Scottish Heritage which is in turn British heritage I suppose, but our tartans are something we are very proud of…..just wanted to say as I have a feeling they will be around in your style (rightfully so) for a long time so wanted to help by mentioning. So glad to see the Scottish items featuring and Johnstons of Elgin are just along the road from my home town so over the moon you are giving them such a lot of love. I normally only belt these blanket scarfs in the front. It give you a waste line, but grater range of movement. I find that much more comfortable, without loosing the style.

think its an excellent idea to keep work sympathetic with surroundings , my husband being the grafter he is and built his own studio / shed, its massive and he designed it exactly to match the house in white with black beams looks fantastic as as he can do anything saves loads of money too!

I so agree with you about tartan and it's so funny because i have bought the same colours : blue casmere and wool long oversized coat, skinny pants ( black watch, blue and red ) in tartan to go with my real riding boots and the same three colors scarves. I absolutely love it !

Lydia, I've been with you ever since the days when Ali wasn't on RUclips and Lumi used to sleep on top of the highest kitchen cupboard, and you had to check behind the silver curtains in your lounge for spiders every time you came home. You're filming room had cupboards that were bulging at the seems with makeup and your tiny little wardrobe was much the same but bulging with clothes and jewellery, and I can't even remember where Ali used to keep his things! And this was the best bit... you used to put a lead on Lumi and take her for a walk around the block! 😂😂😂. You've been on such a journey and I've enjoyed every minute of it. Much love xxx

THE candle incident happened to me today Lydia.....the glass shattered and thank goodness I had a tea light candle in it. Yes lesson learned stay in the room with candles burning.

i haven't finished watching yet, but i wanna say this at 21:00, I think the belt over the ponchos works best if you belt the front only (the two flaps for lack of better words) and keep the back part "un-belted" or over the belt. excuse my English, it's not my mother tongue.
I had a candle catch on fire too, and it really scares you into being more careful with candles! In my instance, the candle was about 8" high and it was on a glass surface, so I thought it was safe. But when the interior contents of the candle (which were almost empty) caught fire, the flames were 10-11 inches high! If it had been closer to the wall, the fire easily could have spread. I have no idea what caused it. Perhaps the manufacturer used a flammable adhesive to hold down the wicks. But I now am extremely cautious with candles and only have 1 lit on a surface with nothing remotely flammable nearby. Stay safe! 🙂

Oh Lydia! I just saw what is happening to you. Again! My goodness. I’m sorry that your life, words, actions are continually taken out of context and made out as so terribly wrong.
It’s proof as to why we are rarely allowed to see inside the lives of celebrities, royals and the 1%. The majority of those who aren’t within that circle of wealth and privilege can’t handle seeing them enjoy it. It’s too bad we can’t all just be supportive of one another and understand we are all in different places in life. Personally I’ve lived through food bank, subsidized housing part of my life and struggled many years to get where I am now. I’m not at your level of wealth but I love seeing a glimpse into yours and I can take from it what I can apply into mine or just enjoy tagging along. Keep being you. You didn’t get to where you are being anyone else.
