Cutting edge flamenco by the "Madonna of modern flamenco"
Following in the footsteps of flamenco innovator Israel Galván, the dancer/choreographer from Málaga (1984) uses her body and femininity boldly and defiantly in the search for a new flamenco aesthetics, challenging the laws of tradition. In her latest show, Al Fondo Riela [Lo Otro del Uno], she moves incisively and in intimate collaboration with her guitarists on the edge between tradition and experiment. Ignoring the flamenco codes, she stretches the boundaries of the genre radically and brilliantly, with phenomenal precision and full of poetic imagination.
