I finally got my snake after having wanted one since I was 14. I’ve been doing continues research to ensure I give him ( Nobu) the best life I can. Your channel is one of my favorites! I love that not only is it informative but it’s also extremely entertaining and has me laughing. Great content!
I had to stop at 3:44 because I was so happy to become a Patron that I couldn’t wait for the end of the video!! I’m proud to be able to help out this very, very good channel! Hey Kent: I’m 60 years old and just got my first Ball Python. If this old lady can have a snake without being petrified, so can you! Just pet one……once. That’s a start! Ok, on with the video …… 🐍❤️🐍 Edit: I’ve been writing everything down, with Darwin! So yeah, apparently I’m a pro!!☺️🤣😂
I keep a tiny notebook attached to my enclosures on an adhesive hook and also feed cards. I monitor sheds, poops, weirdness and locks. What they were offered for food, whether they took it and how they took it (off tongs, drop fed, etc). I am an aspiring breeder, and I want to try to minimize issues and maybe track patterns
Cool video man. Just got my little girl last night. She ate this evening. They are a true delight and so calm. 10/10 would recommend to an adult wanting a calm and nice pet/companion. She has a very nice and clean home to eat and rest in at the correct temp's and humidity. Waaayyy more gentle and calm than any dog or cat or bird I've ever had. By far. And so cool to watch and handle.
This is quickly becoming my favorite BP channel. Not to dissect the frog too much but having Kent as a foil is super effective and hilarious. Good thing OSHA doesn't cover immediate family, otherwise you might have to use a tripod or something.
100% agree with you, having a log helped a vet pin point when my leopard gecko got sick, and how the bacteria could have entered her terrium. Also got a good chuckle on the dramatic logbook reading.
“From the book of Lucille” 🤣😂🤣 I laughed so dang hard!! Oh bartender, you got anymore of that Blasphemy Lite?! ps. slowly working through your channel, and so far it rocks. 🤘🏼
I LIKED THIS VIDEO!!!!! Sorry. Had to shout it just in case you couldn't hear way back here in 2021. I hope these comments still help even though they're a couple years after the video is posted. BTW, the videos are still awesome. 👍
Now I don't feel as silly for having snake discord channels where I can keep up with their schedules. The most useful channel has been "did-they-eat." Maybe I'll make a few more...
You are so full of helpful information and with how you keep your videos lively it really helps with my learning disability with retaining information easier.
So glad I found you! Green Room Pythons is my new favorite channel! I'm a new ball python owner/"mom" ;) and I'll be using your idea about documenting everything because you're so right about how easy it is to forget, even if at the time I think there's no way I'll forget , I normally do! and for our snakes, I agree it's super important to log everything, so thank you for that awesome idea! and your humor is hysterical! lol and KEEP the videos long please!! It's so amazing how much I feel I'm learning! Thanks Again!
Really good content today Bob on keeping track of your snakes health I like that. And I like your new patreon channel that's very cool! And kent, cool your jets your mother knows those snakes won't kill you!
Just had a thought regarding the Inspector's green spot. Does he have a favourite green plant that he likes rubbing his nose on when starting to shed? My Raymond is shedding at the moment, and I have noticed that he still has a little bit of discoloration on his nose from his favourite shed-starter, even though he is more than halfway done shedding.
That's a good thought, but no. This is a raised spot that he's had for months. I've thought that it could be a rub mark but he doesn't spend much time in the plants at all.
Great video, the green on his nose could be a grass stain from the live plants but I must mention the exotic animal thing is that I find that's odd and confusing is that about the exotic animal terms is that the Internet tells you that it's an animal that's not native to your country so technically cats would be exotic to North America but then you have that domestic thing, "Domestication is the process of adapting wild plants and animals for human use. Domestic species are raised for food, work, clothing, medicine, and many other uses. Domesticated plants and animals must be raised and cared for by humans. Domesticated species are not wild." So technically you can argue that a lot of exotic animals aren't exotic cuz we breed and raise them so that makes them not wild and we use them in means of Medicine, Comfort, Support and as an hobby. Ball pythons one of many that shouldn't be classified as exotic animal... im confused. I'm starting to think that they're keeping them in the exotic category just so they can ban them.
It's confusing because the term "exotic" means different things depending on the context of what you're speaking about. In terms of anything from another country, you can call that "exotic". But in terms of animals we keep, "domesticated" is a term for animals that we have bred for thousands of years to live alongside humans. Everything not in that category is called "exotic", regardless of where they are from... When I mention that these are "exotic animals", I'm taking about the fact that most people know nothing about them as compared to an animal like a dog or a cat.
I love this channel! Definitely becoming a patreon supporter. Did I spell that correctly? 🤔 anyway I have two ball pythons that need enclosure up grades. 4x2x2 is what I’m aiming for. Any suggestions Bob or Kent?
Thanks so much Kelton! That size enclosure would be great for a ball python's entire life. Look into black box cages. I don't know if they have that exact size, but two stackable PVC enclosures would be ideal I think.
Animalist groups here in Europe that are going to court and talking to politicians, one of the things they say is exotics are not pets, they are wild and nobody should have the right to have them in they're home. And I don't agree. Most exotics ARE domesticated. All the morphs, mutations and behavior has changed with the generations in captivity. Most are not wild animals any more. Ball pythons I would say are one of the best examples. And this is just my opinion
Yeah some people think that non-domesticated animals shouldn't be kept at all. The true definition of "domestication" takes thousands of years - so dogs, cats and farm animals. Even birds aren't considered "domestic"... But wild vs non-wild is different. All my snakes are captive born and bred, so we wouldn't consider them "wild".
@@GreenRoomPythons I agree. And you guys should prepare for it. Cause things are global now. In France all exotics all allready banned. No sellings, breeding, anything. In my country not at the moment but they want to and also in the rest of Europe. Even fish, its insane
@@GreenRoomPythons I know US ARK and what happens in Florida and other states. I watch a lot of you americans, cause you have a lot of knowladge and make very good videos. Because its wrong almost every aspect of this law.
Another thumbs up on the video as a whole, with a particularly big one for the dramatic reading of the snake diary. 👍 Just a word of warning for potential patrons: There is another reptile content creator on Patreon also calling himself The Green Room. Make sure you subscribe to the right one!
Thanks, I'm new to the channel my son recently got a 7 year old rescue ball python he is addicted to your show and thinks Kent is a legend I always hear him laughing when he come on
Target training? I've seen rats target trained but I'm not sure why you'd do that training with a snake. I'm not even sure if I'm thinking of the same thing. Are you trying to teach the snake to do a spin, or maybe it thinks your fingers are food and you want that attention on something else? I'm confused. I doubt it's teaching them to spin but if I'm wrong I'd like to see that. lol
The dramatised logbook reading actually had me interested ngl
Aw, I should have read the whole book!
I also loved the dramatized logbook reading.

Off topic from this video but curious which heat pads/mats you use? Having a hard time finding good quality under tank heating in ball python videos.
I don't know what brands I use (maybe Zoo-Med?) but there's not much difference in them. Your thermostat choice is the bigger factor I think.
