I appreciate your in-depth musical equipment reviews and showing us how to get the most out of that equipment Glenn. You do a great job at explaining everything verbally and showing it in video, keep up the work.
I used these 4CM patches at a gig Saturday night and was really pleased. Of course I did some tweaking here and there but I have to give a big thanks to Glenn for all his work. I certainly respect his grasp of how these modelers work, I have learned so much through his videos and analyzing his patches. I've been using some of his direct patches too for quite some time. Thanks Glenn....you da man!
So these patches have turned out to be great. With a little tweaking I'm using just one of these all the time. Running the 4 cable method though a Marshall dsl100 and I'm really happy with how it sounds. Really glad I found these. Thanks Glenn. You rock 👍
Wow! Interesting efx chain. The Boss GT-100 certainly adds many dimensions to your playing style. Never heard of the Splawn before..now I have through your channel.
To those of you who HAVE NOT bought custom patches off Glen DeLaune DO IT!! Not only do you get a set of great patches for your DIGITAL RIG but you get INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I bought a set of patches off Glen and EVERY subsequent enquiry I have made (in terms of settings on the GT100 or help with the GT100) he has answered. Glen does NOT have to do this - yet he does as he is a good businessman and a genuinely NICE GUY. Even if you never use the patches (i doubt you would not) then his advice is worth 100 times more than what you pay!! THANKS GLEN you are a gentleman and great musician
ahmed rashed Hi Ahmed : I read the BOSS manual back to front several times and also downloaded and read the entire manual on the web (written by hundreds of boss pedal enthusiasts) I developed loads of patches from scratch as I have an excellent knowledge of pedal order, amps and what works with what. Despite all of this I quickly realised that the "layman" will never achieve what Glenn does (given that he is a professional musician, he is an excellent guitar player, he has an extraordinary large collection of amp and kit to test the gt100 with and he has been developing patches for the boss range for years now) So UNLESS you are equally as talented, have the same level of kit he does and have spent YEARS developing patches (as he has) you simply will never achieve the sound he does. You will also find that the sound you develop in your bedroom (which sounds epic) quickly becomes a boxy horrible sound in the studio! Glen has developed his patches with this in mind I recently sold my GT100 as I have gone the amp /cab and vintage pedal route (with a pedal switcher for saving "patches"). I found that whilst the sound i got out of the GT100 was good (best sound was using the 4 cable method), it simply was not the same as my straight to amp sound. It did not have the headroom, or the warmth of a valve amp. I now have the flexibility of using a valve amp and vintage analogue pedals whilst being able to program patches using vintage analogue pedals. I now PLAYING versus constantly tweaking patches!. If you are happy with the Boss GT100 buy this man's patches and save yourself a LOT of time tweaking. Keep rocking dude
Hi Conrad, thanks for sharing your experience with me, you are right it is not easy to get the best tone out of those processors and for me it will never be as dynamic as an valve amp, the reason why I don't buy patches is that I use my GT100 to the minimum possible, I purchase a mesa mark v 25 recently and I hook it up to my GT with the 4 cable just to have some control over the sound and switch my amp channel with it, I didn't sell my GT just because it looks cool and that's about it :)
ahmed rashed Youre welcome mate - as I said before even if you DON'T use this guys patches BUY them and support him as he is a WEALTH of knowledge. He answered an extraordinary amount of questions from me - way in excess of what I paid for the patches. His answers helped me get an extremely good tone out of my 4 cable method. I must stress i am no way affiliated with Glen nor do i get any reward from him. He really is THAT good that I would take time out of my busy day to tell others not to make the same mistake I made (with endless tweaking which has robbed me of a LOT of playing time) I wish i had found him when I first bought the GT100 - I would be a better guitarist for it!
The way I find unity gain is I plug my guitar straight into the front of the amp, turn up the volume on the amp to a comfortable level and listen to how loud it is and I make a mental note. You can use a db meter phone app if you like. Then I hook up 4CM and using the send return levels in the GT without ANY FX on I adjust the send return levels until I reach the same volume.
I tested the GT100 with a Marshall JVM 410C and the 4-Cable-Method. I red so much in the internet about it and watched all the vids on youtube. But now I know, this combination will never sound like the directly way from guitar into the Marshall. There's a big difference.
then you did something wrong. all it's doing is acting like a pedal board full of pedals in front of your amp. otherwise the tone is completely uneffected.
the four cable method has been a godsend for my cover band project. Really gives you a few different options and quality sound with the naturalness of a tube amp. Don't think I'll need to go back to the old pedal board set up.
Glen i wish you were here having lots of fun with the gt100 watching your vids but its frightening what this unit does thanks so much. im just as you say scratching the surfice but boy its great amazing sounds
Hi Glenn, your videos have persuaded me to buy a GT-100 after years of discrete pedals with only a few disappointed forays into the world of multi-FX. It was frustrating to have to lug along two pedal boards just to get all the effects I might want on a gig It would multi-FX have finally come of age! I was running a Les Paul Standard / Strat into a Marshall JCM800 4212 50W combo I have owned from new and love to bits (Marshall Amplification is only just down the road from where I work, and they have done a fantastic job of keeping it on the road and still looking almost like new. However, I have just joined a blues band after years of metal, and the Marshall is just a bit too rawk. OK, I still love the Marshall's pre-amp sound, but it is great to have the option to bypass it and substitute something a little more suitable for my current band! Thank you so much for your instructive and helpful videos, and good luck with your own musical journey. You have a serious talent - both for playing guitar and explaining things in a clear and simple manner.
Hey Chris, I gotta say I love the way Boss have replicated their pedals. The drive stomps are indeed very "organic" The Gt-100 makes a great board to this 4 cable method. So if you've got a great amp and have the distortion part covered the GT-100 can handle all of the FX.
Well yes, in fact your amp needs a serial FX loop for this to work. To get the stereo sound you would take the right output of the GT-100 into the FX return of the second amp. I've used this with 2 Marshalls and it works great.
If your amp has MIDI then it has a "Learn" function. Turn that on and press on a pedal on the GT-100 and the GT will send a CC message to the amp. Then from that point on anytime you press that pedal on the GT the amp will change to that channel.
Hi! First of all and above everything thank you for all your time and patience in every video you post! I have no words to thank enough...I’m wondering if you could help me, I have a tubemaister 36 combo, and I’m trying to switch the amp channels with the GT 100 via MIDI, somehow I can’t. I tried connecting it with the 4CM plus a midi cable. The amp tries to match the patches already created but doesn’t allow me to use the amp channel instead of the preamp of the GT. I saw a video on RUclips (From H&K) that they we’re using almost exactly my equipment and he was connecting GT midi out to the amp midi, guitar to amp input, amp send to the in of the GT, out GT to the amp’s return so, in that way it can be used as effects and at the same time it can control the amp’s channels...again I fail. I know I’m doing something wrong but I can’t find anything rewarding GT 100 midi control or programming. Can you help me?
Hi Glenn! hey, I wanted to put a Preamp pedal, the AMT P2 in the loop (they recommend to use it to the return of the amp), so I connected it between the GT100 L/Mono out and the amp's return. Sounds good, but when I try to bypass this "Amp sound" with the preamp in it and use one of the preamps in the GT unit, the AMT P2 still sounds through the rig. How should I program the GT100 to bypass it? I currently turn off the S/R block to use the GT's preamps and then on, with the GT preamps off to use my amp's sound. This works in the 4 cable method, but once I add the AMT p2 to the equation, it always sounds through. I hope this makes sense... thanks in advance for the advice!
Yes Diezel Herbert ,Mesa royal Atlantic,EVH, Peavey XXX2& 6505+ .... Love tube amps. I see you have the switches changed up to perform different things , I was reading manual but did t see where you can reconfigure the pedal switches. Like u have od1&solo were their were looper n accel originally ?
Even though your patches are excellent, Theres no comparison of having the real tube amp vs using the models even thru video you can just feel the thunder of the splawn,lol... I love this video it really shows how you can use gt 100 like a dedicated fx unit... like a gsystem, do you get any tone suck or change from the gt on the splawn?
hi Glenn thank you so much for your videos which are AWESOME. You Say you use the EQ as a Boost. Can you share how you set It please? do you leve the compressor off? Thank you so much
Hi Glenn super great demo! need to buy new Multi fX unit and maybe the GT100... But just one question please, do you keep your original amp sound with the GT100 and the 4 method cables? no alteration or any degradation of the original sound?
Hi Glenn... great video as all your videos and thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge with us. I have a question.... when using the 4 cable method, what is the ideal setting for the output level on the GT? Thank you very much
Is that VH tone using the Splawn only, or are you also using the GT-100 for effects on the Panama cover? That NAILED the brown sound. Awesome! And without a pick :).
Wah works good and I have used the harmonizer live. It works OK. The cool thing about it is you can have user scales. My band cover Achilles Last Stand by Led Zeppelin and I use it for that.
Hi Glenn, I'm trying to get rid of some of my pedals to replace them with the gt100, I would only use the gt100 for effects, maybe some overdrives, my point is I would only use it for effects since i would use it with my amps distortion. would the gt10 be a good option? its cheaper if I get a used one.
Great tones!! Hey quick question, for these style tones in 4 cable method, would you prefer the GT-100 or Pod HD 500? I will be pairing with an EVH 5150 mini and looking to use the unit for (mostly) effects only and channel switching via midi.
Question: I want to use amp control on this unit. I've read this only works mono? Does that mean it will only turn a single channel on and off or something? Will the gt100 be able to switch between both channels of my amp? (I'll need that 5th cable to the GT won't I ?).I'm thinking of getting an Engl ironball SE, and would like to use this to switch between channels on it.
Glenn, I enjoy all of your videos, thank you! by chance, do you have any advice on making 4 cable method work using series effects loop? I'm a GT-5 die-hard user but considering GT-100. I can use two amps to split the GT-5 effects nicely but I cannot accomplish this with one amp using my Fender De Ville tweed series effects loop. If GT-100 will work with series loop, that could seal the deal to start saving $ for one.
Great video, thank you, I've just got one of these and hooked it to my Peavey Valveking head using 4CM. I have imported a patch that I created in my GT-001. For some reason, even though the accel is assigned to S bend it only switches between the two parts of the chain that are spit. Any ideas how to overcome this? Thanks for your great videos :)
I'm peruvian; i've just got the gt100 and i'd like to know if is it possible to create those sounds without the amp? If so...how? Help me please, i'd like to learn. Thank you in advance.
Do you have the Jcm 2000 dsl 100 year (2005ish)amp head? I would like to see and hear what your Jackson would do when plugged into that Boss Gt-100 proccessor. I have a new Jackson SLXQ with EMG 85/81 X-series pick-up upgrades;and i have the Marshall dsl 100mlb half-stack with said amp-head. I was curious how it might sound with stock speakers and this boss effects unit. Thanks Glenn.
Is this available with the Mark 5 from mesa boogie?? Also. How does the amp know what specific channel & settings you want with amps with 3 channels?? Thanx again! Big fan!
Hey Glenn! Nice vid! I bought the GT-100 a few days ago. I use the 4 cable method too and I really dig it, sounds f-ing amazing! But just like you and many others I like my amp's distortion better than anything else, but when I set the preamp-mod to off I get no sound at all. Maybe I just need to mix with the sound and the pedals in different orders, I don't know... I'm using a Mesa Mini-rectoverb and the distortion is out of this world and I don't wanna lose it to the GT-100 :/
How are you getting your clean tone? I've got this patch and 4 cabled into a Marshall DSL 100hr. I can't get a clean tone. I have the amp on the red channel with it's natural Distortion and using the patch overdrive as a Boost. When I change my channel on the amp ( using the amps foot switch) to the green/Clean side and turn off the overdrive in the patch I just get a slightly dirty muffled sound. Please help!

Thank you Glenn, but the quest is what happen if you want to use the worderful presets on GT 100 and use them with the 4 cable method, the S/R rol then is important? also if you like some amps in GT can we light them with this 4cm system? y am using the 4cm and setting s/r all the time forward or back but y get some feedback noise after the riff is done in some presets, is like a dirty reverb sound feedback fading away . Y dont want to use the effects like you do so well, because y want the more variety of sounds with the presets and modifying some parameters adding stuff etc. Thanks for your generosity !
Thanks Jasey. I'm just using the default settings on the Mod., very little hall reverb and I'm using the dual delay. It's a little too complicated to explain here on the delay. It's doing several different things at once.
You can use amp modelers by turning off the loop in gt10 so they feed into the effects return of the amp. I've had great fun using the amp and a model as a dual amp patch by moving the gt10's loop into one of the preamp channels. Presume the gt100 is the same.
I wanted to use this method but the noise produced by the gear is annoying. I placed NZ1 first in the chain and NZ2 last in the Chain. Am I doing it write? My amp is a DSL 40 C, Thanks!
Thanx Glenn, Yes I remember that video but not sure how you actually tell the amp which channel to go to while Setting up even with midi. Will Each channel on the amp need a separate midi?? That would make sense but till confusing on how to set it up for me.
Glenn Love your videos. Thanks for sharing. What do you do to resolve ground noise issues as a result off the 4cm? I love the possibilities but can't get by the hum. I am using a gt-100 with a Fender Supersonic. Thanks in advance for any help.
That's mostly the Splawn amp sound. I am hitting the front end with a clean boost from the GT-100. As far as the setting they are pretty much default settings for that clean boost.
Another great video Glenn! Thanks for your efforts. I bought your Custom Artist Patches for the GT100. Will you make these 4 cable method patches available as well?
Do you notice that the global EQ still slightly colors your sound? If so is their anyway to turn that all the way off or what settings can counteract their coloring. Through a parallel loop this pedal is horrible and the coloring was very obvious. Just got a new multi watt Rectifier that has a series loop hoping that does the trick if not going to sell er! Let me know your thoughts please. Thanks
Hi Glenn, great videos, very professional musician. I need a little help, I would like to increase the delay with volume pedal. Can you tell me how did you set up the gt 100 for this beautiful effect? Thank you so much
Hi, Glenn. Thank U for videos. Can You show how to install any effect to "Phase Loop" knob? (How You install overdrive on this knob in "Metallica" preset?)
Bought this set of patches to support your awsome work. Got a few hints from your comments below and noted down the way you do your signal chain, and then went on to build my own patches from scratch with some minor changes in the fx pedal order. Checked your patches out today, they sound near to identical with those I made, so I guess I'm doing it right. One question though, when the fx loop is put in front of A/B it is possible to put delay in on channel to get a trail when swiching channels but the amp distortion sounds break up somewhat when in front of them channels, any idea why?
Hi Glenn, thanks for the great videos about the gt-100, it really helps. I'm using the 4 cable method with a Mrashll jvm410h JS and the clean channel get more "hard" like its not rounded like directly pluging on amp or using gt-100 on loop on in front only, is it normal or expected? I really try every possible config on levels, and S/R modes. If could you help me a bit. Thank you!
Question I see you still have the traynor custom 50 I want to boost my leads and I don't find the boost channel loud enough just adds a little more gain. I've tried boost pedals but they don't seem to work in front or the loop any suggestions by the way I love this amp thanks
Could you use amp modelers in the 4CM or would it not work as good? I viewed your video on the GT-100 going to the front of the amp. Is it better to use the amp modelers to the front of the amp or in the 4CM?
Hi Glenn, great videos! I have my GT-100 going to a Mesa Boogie Triple and I'm using the 4 cable method. I've connected it as you've shown in this video and the pedal works great with my amp. However, when I go to tune the guitar using the GT 100 I have sound coming through the amp. Is this expected or have I done something wrong?
Chuck Matheny Just wondering if ur triple Rectifier has a series or parallel effects loop. My dual Rectifier has a parallel loop and I’m wondering if I should get a gt 100 for the four cable method.
Hi glenn, could you maybe post a photo of your pedal settings? I am not getting those beautiful sounds like yours especially the lead sound.I think that a lot of people would appreciate this. Im using a voxac30 btw.
Great demo! I've just purchased the GT100 and I'm really impressed! I'm running it through a Vox AC30CC2. I've set the 4 cable method up but I'm not too sure how to preserve my Vox amp sound with the Top Boost pre-amp maxed. Do I need to turn off the GT's pre-amps off in the effects chain? If so, how? Do I have to do it for each preset? Thanks!
Glenn great demo as always! Wondered if you could help me? I used to own a JCM900 and the Boss GT6 and I had it set up in 4CM, It did exactly what I wanted it to being that you could switch the JCM's channels from clean to dirty using the GT6 with one stomp rather than having to use the JCM's footswitch. I now have on order a Laney ironheart and the GT100, The ironheart being a 3 channel amp and the JCM being two channel I was wondering whether I will be able to use my new rig in the exact same way that I had my JCM and GT6 setup ala not needing to use the ironhearts footswitch to change channel then having to switch the GT100 to the desired patch(too much tapdancing!) Thanks for your time.
No I don't think you will be able to switch all three channels with the GT-100 because it can only switch single channel amps. I don't think those amps have MIDI but if they do you can try that. The GT-100 can switch my JVM 205H on all channels so it should work with the ironheart if it has MIDI.
No it seems the Laney doesn't have midi capability damn! According to the manual it does have a 5 pin din for the supplied footswitch and two 1/4" jack sockets to fit an fs2 or equivalent footswitch which has channel and clean on one socket and reverb and boost on the other??? Do you think this would be any good? I only really want to be able to switch from clean to either rhythm or lead channel as for boost and reverb etc I will use the GT100. Thanks
You might try connecting to the Sub CTL jack on the GT-100 to those jacks on your amp. That might work. You would use a TRS 1/4in. on one end (going into the GT-100) and that splits into two regular 1/4in. cables and that would go into the amp jacks.
Q: I'd like to combine the ME unit with a pedal (Fortin GRIND) - where is the optimal position for this pedal in the 4CM chain, as described in this video?
Purchased some presets for recording, thanks! Just one question: I’m using my GT-100 v2 through my Mesa Mark five 25w with the 4-cable method you demonstrated. Is there a way to use all the pedals on the unit for various modulation effects? I see options for DLY, RVB, CHO, FX1 & FX2, but can we add more? Example - FX3, FX4, etc? Thanks.
***** Just purchased the stickers for the GT-100, cant wait till they come in! One quick question - I can’t mount the unit to my Pedal-train PT-3. I took off the 5 rubber feet but the screws underneath on the top & bottom stick out way to much to properly set it on the board. I tried different types of velcro also with no results. Any advice? - Nate
Hi Nate Thank you. Yes you need some better velcro. Home Depot sells some 2in. wide velcro. That's what i used and the GT-100 stuck really good. I sent you a confirmation email about your labels. Thank you Nate.
Glenn , do you recommend the boss gt100 over line6hd500x and the g system. I've tried the g system twice ,twice epic fail due to coloration.line6 are nice tried m13&m9 but always a weird feel to their fx. Does boss gt replicate their boss pedals being boss pedals are very organic n great sounding! Tnx in advance
Hey glen Any advice on using the overdrives and distortions of the gt100 as so far they sound "digital" to me with 4 cable method? Also wanted to ask why you have your eq in the loop as a lead boost and Are you using the "lead boost " named eq boost or have you set your own settings? If so what are those settings ? Your time and help always appreciated
Conrad Kriel Hi Conrad. Yes I use the EQ level as the lead boost because it's the easiest to set on the fly. The best overdrive in the GT-100 is the Natural OD. It has a nice organic "spongy" sound to it and it has plenty enough gain.
Hi, once you've set your levels in 4cm if you decide you need more volume at a gig for example will lthe levels increase correctly on the preamp models of the gt 100 and the preamp of your amp or will adjustments need to be made ?
Hi Glenn, as you've previously owned and used the GT-10, how would you compare it to the GT-100. Is it worth ungrading to the GT-100? I own a GT-10 which I can get some nice clean tones with but I've always had difficulty creating a distortion tone to my liking. I'm running it through a Fender Frontman 65R 1X12. Would a decent head and cab vastly increase my tonal possibilities. I think I already know the answer but I'd like your input as you know your stuff. I use an Ibanez RG 370.
I can't make the CTL pedal work with amp switiching, neither with patches. In the amp the channel switches, but soundwise there's no change (amp is still in clean mode, regardless of the light indicating the distortion channel). Any thoughts? I have a blackstar ht 50 using the 4 cable method
Already did. But that was not the problem, I forgot to route the s/R before the preamp in the chain, I had to activate in order to work. Thanks anyways glen, appreciate your tips
Thanks for the Videos. Had a question. Lets say I just want to use the GT100 for modulation effects, and not use the 4 cable method. So I assume it would be hooked up just through the Amps effects loop. Which outputs do I use on the GT100? I'm running into a Marshall half stack. and what setting would I use in the GT100? Stack Amp, Line/Return or Stack Return? Thanks.
***** when you say GT-100 FX Return and GT-100 FX Send are you referring to the EXT LOOP send and return on the Boss GT100 or the input and Left/Mono Output on the GT100?
How to set the block S / R because when I connect my preamp with Marshall VS100, the sound quality drops. I set 100 send and 100 return. I have a guitar set to level 0 and presence 0.
Fernando Herrera Hi Fernando, unfortunately the GT-100 does not have delay trails when changing patches. Lots of people were disappointed about that. But if you use it the way I use it you can have delay trails within the same patch. My Custom patches are all programmed to utilize the Boss FS-5U pedals as external controllers and they can do many things so with one patch you can have clean chorus all the way to Marshall tones with a lead boost and delay trails.
Thanks for your videos, there really great! Could you please help me, I'm kinda loosing my nerves :P I have hooked up my gt 100 with my jvm 410h which sounds great, but every time I want to program a channel on the amp to be connected to a specific preset on my gt 100 via Midi, my amp shows no reaction at all. Neither Marshall or boss can answer that question (what's really sad btw), but I hope you could. I have seen the jvm 410h reacting to the gt 100, so I do know that the basically can work together without any problems. Do I need some gadget to allow the amp and the gt to basically talk to each other or am I just blind to se the secret button or something? Thanks again for your great videos, best wishes!
+Alexander Hubmann You hook the GT-100 MIDI out to the JVM MIDI In. Then select a preset OTHER than thy one you want to program on the GT-100. Then on the JVM select the mode or channel you want, then press the MIDI Learn button on the front of the JVM, then on the GT-100 you now press the preset you want to activate the channel you have set on the JVM. The MIDI Learn switch on the JVM will blink quickly and then from that point on every time you press that preset on the GT-100 the JVM will switch to that channel.
+Glenn DeLaune thank you for the quick response! I just did it again step by step like you have just described, but when it comes up to the point where I press the button on the gt 100, the midi learn knob show a reaction and keeps on flashing constantly like when you just press it without connecting any controller... Midi PC setting and omni mode in the gt 100 are both switched to 'on'... I'm now trying to figure out what's going wrong... Could there be some different problems? The jvm 410h is about 3 years old and the midi in have never been used until now, the gt 100 was used as midi controller for a grandmeister for the past 10 month. Thanks, greets!
+Glenn DeLaune didn't work either.. Yes, I use the same for my Midi controller and it's brand new.. Man its pretty cool you're taking time to list that up, thank you so much!!
+Glenn DeLaune I just wanted you to know that I finally got it! I swiched through every setting on the TX channel, Nr 15 finally did work. I just wanted to thank u again for the work and time you've taken! Thank you, great videos!!
your tone does sound incredible on this, im getting to grips with using manual mode instead of patches now. Do you think you could send me the settings that you used for the modulations, reverb and delay?
Hey Glenn! Nice vid! but ı wanna ask you something, what about boss gt 100 r output where it plug in. Only use left mono but ı wanna stereo sound. I have a peavey 6505 mh and 2x12 cabinet what can ı do. Thank you....
Hi Glen . I am using the 4 Cable method and i have a problem with my FS-6 pedal. I can't get both switches to respond the way i wanted. Example i programed the GT 100 to work with FS-6 as follows, 1st switch to control the tempo on my delay , 2nd to turn on of the delay. Tempo works fine i can tap in and it changes , 2nd switch is inconsistent , i press once it doesn't change the delay off or on, 2nd time i press and it changes, (The LED lights turnes on but the effect doesn't apply, verry confusing..) ... i am using TRS cable from GC ... any advice how to setup this... ? Thank you.
I appreciate your in-depth musical equipment reviews and showing us how to get the most out of that equipment Glenn. You do a great job at explaining everything verbally and showing it in video, keep up the work.
Glenn DeLaune is the legend of the multi effects...thank you glenn this video is very useful for my gt100....
I would have liked to have seen the solo! Nice job as always glenn. Thanks for breaking down for us noobs.
So these patches have turned out to be great. With a little tweaking I'm using just one of these all the time. Running the 4 cable method though a Marshall dsl100 and I'm really happy with how it sounds. Really glad I found these. Thanks Glenn. You rock 👍

Wow, Thank you so much for your kind words Conrad. You guys are awesome!!
Best fun for me is tweaking my GT100 and get the sound I want or like
ahmed rashed
Hi Ahmed : I read the BOSS manual back to front several times and also downloaded and read the entire manual on the web (written by hundreds of boss pedal enthusiasts) I developed loads of patches from scratch as I have an excellent knowledge of pedal order, amps and what works with what.
Glen has developed his patches with this in mind
I recently sold my GT100 as I have gone the amp /cab and vintage pedal route (with a pedal switcher for saving "patches").
Hi Conrad, thanks for sharing your experience with me, you are right it is not easy to get the best tone out of those processors and for me it will never be as dynamic as an valve amp, the reason why I don't buy patches is that I use my GT100 to the minimum possible, I purchase a mesa mark v 25 recently and I hook it up to my GT with the 4 cable just to have some control over the sound and switch my amp channel with it, I didn't sell my GT just because it looks cool and that's about it :)
ahmed rashed
Youre welcome mate - as I said before even if you DON'T use this guys patches BUY them and support him as he is a WEALTH of knowledge.
It was on Latch, i changed it to momentary inside the GT 100 setting and now works. Thanks.
Glen i wish you were here
having lots of fun with the gt100
watching your vids but its frightening what this unit does thanks so much. im just as you say scratching the surfice but boy its great amazing sounds
Hi Glenn, your videos have persuaded me to buy a GT-100 after years of discrete pedals with only a few disappointed forays into the world of multi-FX. It was frustrating to have to lug along two pedal boards just to get all the effects I might want on a gig
It would multi-FX have finally come of age!
Awesome Ron, glad they worked for you.
Hey Chris, I gotta say I love the way Boss have replicated their pedals. The drive stomps are indeed very "organic" The Gt-100 makes a great board to this 4 cable method. So if you've got a great amp and have the distortion part covered the GT-100 can handle all of the FX.
Another big bag of tricks, Thanks Glenn.
Well yes, in fact your amp needs a serial FX loop for this to work. To get the stereo sound you would take the right output of the GT-100 into the FX return of the second amp. I've used this with 2 Marshalls and it works great.
Nice sound Glenn. Love the setup you have there.
Thanks Glenn. Excellent information as always.
Another cool video. Rock on Glenn!
You are a gentleman glen THANK YOU
Yes there is. It's in the system settings. Mine are set to 80 and 80. That was unit gain for my settings.
Oh yeah Chris, this thing is totally customizable so for use in Manual mode it;s like having a huge pedal board with all the FX right at your feet.
If your amp has MIDI then it has a "Learn" function. Turn that on and press on a pedal on the GT-100 and the GT will send a CC message to the amp. Then from that point on anytime you press that pedal on the GT the amp will change to that channel.
frencis loves your Gt100
My Overdrive 1 kicks in the GT's Clean Boost. It's great for hitting the front of the amp to push the tubes a little.
Francis wanna use the GT 100, what a rocking buddy!
Hi Glenn! hey, I wanted to put a Preamp pedal, the AMT P2 in the loop (they recommend to use it to the return of the amp), so I connected it between the GT100 L/Mono out and the amp's return.
If the AMT P2 has MIDI you can use that to control the on/off state of the AMT pedal.
@@GlennDeLauneOfficial no midi on it :(
Yes Diezel Herbert ,Mesa royal Atlantic,EVH, Peavey XXX2& 6505+ ....
Good Question Ben, If your amp has MIDI then the GT-100 can change the amp channel via MIDI. That's how i was using it with my Marshall JVM205H
Hi Barbara. I did that by using the assigns in the GT-100
That's the Splawn. yes this amp is very "Brown"!! The only effects were reverb & delay. I am using a thumb pick
hi Glenn thank you so much for your videos which are AWESOME. You Say you use the EQ as a Boost. Can you share how you set It please? do you leve the compressor off? Thank you so much
thanks again Glen
Hi Glenn super great demo!
need to buy new Multi fX unit and maybe the GT100...
But just one question please, do you keep your original amp sound with the GT100 and the 4 method cables? no alteration or any degradation of the original sound?
No it's a single channel amp. It's not a distortion it's the GT's Clean Boost. You know you can get these patches from my website.
3:45 , francis is practicing some licks, lol
Hi Glenn... great video as all your videos and thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge with us.
Loved your Panama cover.
I found a very well recorded A/B of these two and the GT100 won hands down
Question: I want to use amp control on this unit.
Thank you Glenn for the answers. Can you explain L&R out to the PA system. What I need for this. Thank you again...
You would need two cables that are XLR Mail on one end and 1/4in. TRS on the other end. You would go Left & Right out of the GT right into the PA.
Awesome Glenn, can you do one for connecting to a combo that has no FX loop. Thanks buddy
Thanks in advance for any help.
don6string You can try something called a HUM-X. I use them and they work.
That's mostly the Splawn amp sound. I am hitting the front end with a clean boost from the GT-100. As far as the setting they are pretty much default settings for that clean boost.
Glenn DeLaune what is a Clean boost?
Thank you so much
Thank Glenn!!
great work Glenn!!but i have to ask, in system menu witch output you have selected for the 4 cable method
Thank you!
Try switching off the loop on the amp just for your clean patch.
There is a setting in the system settings where you can set to Mute during Tuning Mode.
Chuck Matheny
Just wondering if ur triple Rectifier has a series or parallel effects loop.
Probably the GT because it is set up to work well with all amps.
Thanks!
Yes for each preset. Press the Effect button, scroll to the Preamp Icon and turn it Off.
Thanks Glenn! Much appreciated! Carry on the good work! 😀
Yeah how do you channel switch on your amp?midi or switch chord,,I've got the jvm410h
Thank you Glenn! This will help me a lot! But which output option you selected?
Thank you!!!!
Also one more question, gt100 only have fx1, fx2 can add fx3 and fx4?
+Jose Zerna Do you Mean CTL or FX??
Hi Glenn, yes, please do show us the Digitech Vocalist unit. I'm really interested to find out how this works. Thanks.
Q: I'd like to combine the ME unit with a pedal (Fortin GRIND) - where is the optimal position for this pedal in the 4CM chain, as described in this video?
The S/R Block should be just after the amp block in the Gt unit.
@@GlennDeLauneOfficial Thanks Glenn, but I was aiming for the physical location of the pedal.
Thanks.
nate2258 You can add a Boss FS-6 to control FX3 & FX4
Hey glen
Any advice on using the overdrives and distortions of the gt100 as so far they sound "digital" to me with 4 cable method?
Also wanted to ask why you have your eq in the loop as a lead boost and
Are you using the "lead boost " named eq boost or have you set your own settings?
Well you can use the amp modelers in 4CM as long as your amp has a super clean channel. If not then it probably won't sound that good.
If I switch to 4 cable method do I need to change all my patches? I play in a cover band & wrote patches to emulate each song. Thanks
I can't make the CTL pedal work with amp switiching, neither with patches. In the amp the channel switches, but soundwise there's no change (amp is still in clean mode, regardless of the light indicating the distortion channel). Any thoughts? I have a blackstar ht 50 using the 4 cable method
Jonathan Luisi You have to use the assigns to "assign" the amp switch to the CTL pedal. That's in Master/Pedal FX menu.
Thanks.
Well you could go Amp FX Send>GT-100 FX Return and GT-100 FX Send>Amp FX Return. I would use Line/Phones output mode.
Thanks Glenn for the quick response. I'll give that a try.
*****
when you say GT-100 FX Return and GT-100 FX Send are you referring to the EXT LOOP send and return on the Boss GT100 or the input and Left/Mono Output on the GT100?
Yes
thank you you are the best...
How to set the block S / R because when I connect my preamp with Marshall VS100, the sound quality drops.
I set 100 send and 100 return. I have a guitar set to level 0 and presence 0.
thanks for the video.
Do you know if you can choose for each preset if delay tails are on or off?
Awesome!! Glad you got it sorted out.
Hi, i download your 4 cable method patch and ive got a.question, how can i use It with drive from my amp?
your tone does sound incredible on this, im getting to grips with using manual mode instead of patches now.
You'll need two amps or you'll need to run L&R out to the PA if you want stereo sound. No way around that.
? Thank you.
Yes change the switch on the back of the FS6 pedal from Latching to Momentary. That should do it.
How do you set the effects loop on the GT-100? Is there a send and return level?
