For instance steerer is an editor on SNL and it appears there Tomas middleditch from Jake and amir has a similar bit in silicone valley naddpod even Brennan (across to much to list) but all of them have runners that are sort of voice affections and various bits.
From experience, I do the same thing, I started at 14 year old as like an intentional, jokey thing where I reply "huh?" when I don't want to repeat myself. Now I'm 22 and truly it's uncontrollable

Like, I would do that if I didn't quite understand someone on an acoustic level. Seems innocuous to me... What am I not getting? Please help
@@lukasspielmann108 yes, it's funny because it subverts everyone's expectations of what is going to happen, and it puts the other person on the spot to clarify the situation. it quickly changes the tone of the conversation, and makes everyone confused which causes people to laugh. people would also say 'hm?' if they legitimately didn't understand something, but in this case it's funny because ally should easily understand what is happening. as they usually use it when someone *reacts* to a statement that they said--- there's no reason for them to be confused, so they are either trying to get out of something they said or is not paying close attention, both of which people laugh at. some of these clips show them responding 'hm?' in situations when they could be legitimately confused, like when they didn't say something first. in this case it's still funny because they were drunk in some of these clips and has a comical lack of understanding of what is going on.
From they're early bits to now, you can hear the gradual change in their voice. I get it, it's before and after testosterone but I've heard trans people still sounding the same as they did pre transition.
