One of the reasons why I love this movie is because I worked at a country club when I was 16. It was my first job, a summer job, and I honestly loved it.
I worked as a valet parker at Rolling Hills Golf club at the time this was being filmed (where Spailding threw up in the porsch). I remember thinking "this looks like a stupid movie" when they were shooting it. Yeah, I was wrong.
@@mayhemjr.803 It didn't really seem like that big of a deal at the time. It was 1979 and they weren't big movie stars yet. Just snl. I had no idea I was in such an amazing place and time in history unfortunately. I saw Chevy quite a bit. I didn't really know who Rodney was. Bill was only there for a couple days for the one scene. Damn, wish I could go back.
@@dennishuffstutler9820 sure sounds like fun. I heard in the documentary about the making of Caddyshack all the drugs the cast was all doing and how pissed off the execs back in Hollywood were getting because of how long it was taking them to make it. They were running out of money. Not to mention there was a hurricane or something like that during filming and they had to shut it down for some days. But boy ...you were THERE. That's pretty cool.
I was born in 1980, so got to experience the 80s as a kid. It was AWESOME, an awesome time to be a kid. Pizza hut was glorious, Mcdonalds was a magic place, Great movies, FANTASTIC Music. No social media, no where near the amount of distractions, people interacted, we knew all of our neighbors. We rode bicycles everywhere. No political correctness or weird gender stuff going on, no one cared about that. Nuclear bomb drills at school, lol. We would go out in the hall and line up and hunker down if I recall correctly, or get under our desk, something like that. MTV played music videos, that was all it did really, it was epic. I remember watching Michael Jackson music videos when they just came out. What a time to be alive.
He had ZIP experience back in '79 when making this film. Can you imagine if Harold Ramis started directing films in the 60's. Then this would have been one of the great masterpieces of comedies.
I saw this movie when it came out in '80. Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, John Belushi, and the SNL cast were the most recognized brand in comedy at that time. Fun fact: Chevy Chase improvised forgetting Danny's name throughout the movie and Michael O'Keefe was told to just go with it. He briefly broke character when Chase at started dropping clubs at 01:17 because that was not scripted, but managed to hold it together to not ruin the take and Ramis left it in the movie.
One thing I didn’t realize until watching it recently is that Danny keeps the blindfold on around his neck later in the day. Check out the scene where he and Tony are arguing about the Coke.

@JBishop29 No doubt. Thanks for the reply. Now check this out: In the long run, it is Bill Murray that became the lovable, affable superstar. Not Chevy Chase. Chase's problem comes from the fact that he was born into great wealth. The entitled rich kid he played in Caddyshack truly was his existence while growing up. Minus the golfing ability of course. And while he performs superbly in this film he started to fall flat later on. Probably sometime shortly after Christmas Vacation came out. Incidentally, that film was saved by Randy Quaid. Without him playing the derelict relative cousin Eddie? That film is a flop. Today almost nobody likes Chevy Chase, and he no longer is asked to make films while Murray is still in demand. And yet he still has lots of his family's money. The general analysis of him is that Chase THINKS that he's Bill Murray, but he's really just a punk rich kid.
@@jorgecallico9177 Murray better than Chase? Are you serious. Liberals have no class or taste. Simply go where the rest of the herd goes. Chase was so much funnier the Murray. Ghostbusters is it. “You take drugs Danny?”
Everyday
Good.
One of my favorite lines/exchanges in a movie.
You take drugs?
Yeah
Then what's the problem
Still a regular greeting in my family. 😄
“So what’s the problem?” Lol
Not just a good line. Perfect delivery!
“I like ya, Betty.” 😂😂😂
Danny!
That's Danny sir

O'Keefe was very underrated in this movie.
This movie captures the easygoing vibe of 1979/80 (from what I've observed). Wish I could go back in time. College and housing was actually affordable
