Super Scoopers Arrive at Van Nuys Airport

Notes: The Super Scoopers Arrived at the Van Nuys Airport today in preparation for the 2024 Fall Fire Season. LAWA- These aircraft allow local fire authorities to quickly contain wildfires and respond with a greater mitigation potential. Flying at high speed, the turbo-prop Scoopers are able to skim across the surface of lakes or reservoirs and take in up to 1,600 gallons of water in only 12 seconds. This method removes the need for a water refilling station, which may be too far away to utilize.

They are so ugly and yet so awesome! I believe there are a handful of pilots who are qualified to fly them. I always see them parked in VNY but never seen them land or take off. Precious footage, thank you so much!
