Like # 1 of the day. USF to ACC only makes sense if the ACC loses FSU, Clemson, UNC, Miami, UVA, VT, NCSt, Pitt & Louisville. It would be the remaining ACC schools trying to survive as a P4 by raiding the AAC (USF, Memphis, Tulane) and Pac2 (WSU, OSU), MWC (SDSU & Fresno St or UNLV) to get to 16.
But there is the question….the more G5 school elevated to B12/ACC are they helping the conference? Or are they weighing it down guaranteeing a tier 2 status?

Spencer Great show: I am no Franklin fan. I cannot see my Nittany Lions going better then 9-3. They are not beating OSU, USC and Wisconsin. Minnesota & West Virginia are also possible road losses. As for USF, I agree about them not being a great add for the ACC. The only way the Bulls make sense is if the ACC loses Miami ( as well as Florida St). Why? So the ACC does not get shut out of Florida. The only scenarios that happens is. 1: FSU to SEC and the Big 10.takes Miami as a “Fallback Option.” 2: Big 10 takes FSU and instead of Clemson they take Miami.
Big TV markets too. Tampa is No. 13, New Orleans is No. 53, and Houston is No. 10. Even if viewers in those markets don't watch their home teams much, they will tune in to see the other ACC teams.
UConn, Boston College, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Memphis, Virginia, VA Tech, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, South Florida, Miami, SMU, California, Stanford, Oregon State, Washington State...20-Member ACC. 4 pods of 5 schools. Each plays the 4 teams in their pod plus one of the other pods on a rotating basis annually so that each member plays all of the other 19 members at least once in a 4-year cycle. Also, Notre Dame would play one ACC pod per season and rotate through so each school plays the Irish once in a 4-year cycle. That would assist in travel, keep existing rivalries [ like UVA/UNC...Oregon State/Stanford...BC/Syracuse...], help create new rivals [such as Miami/USF...VT/Memphis...UConn/BC]. And, this also bolsters the basketball, women's and Olympic sports in the ACC. Gotta say a big ole NOPE to San Diego State and Tulane, at least, for now. They bring less by far than an Oregon State, WSU, UConn, Memphis, USF, Boise State, Colorado State, Navy, Army, Air Force or New Mexico State/New Mexico. There are already 2 Cali schools in the league and both are preferable over SDST and the Green Wave would be preferred over a Temple or a Buffalo if for no other reasons than academics and expanding the footprint but they would be down the list a bit.
4:47 I can definitely say that with the years that NC State has been having in football, basketball and now baseball, no way the Wolfpack leaves the ACC. UNC and NC State are tied together. Duke isn't taking cues from UNC either. UNC isn't going anywhere because the ACC is headquartered in Charlotte.

Respectfully Disagree.. How many people realize that Tallahassee, Clemson and Chapel hill are all small media markets alone? USF would be a pure play for numbers, the Tampa market & converting another Florida football base into eager ACC fans. USF is a large enrollment AAU level academics school. If USF does Louisville numbers that is a win. SMU gets the ACC & ACCN network into Texas. They will be solid on the field. Stanford is the most wealthy and is making adjustments Christian McCaffery is aligned with an attempt at NIL. Also just recently Stanford is examining admission adjustments and Graduate transfers. Cal Just survived a near death Experience & were the targets of Most of the complaints about Calford. They are still a State Flagship in Talent rich territory and are building decent teams in football & basketball. Both schools should perform like their athletic life depends on it. Because it does. Excellence is a choice.

USF has very little market outside of the Tampa, St Pete, Bradenton metro area which they share with the Buccaneers, Gators, and Seminoles. My HS in Fort Lauderdale just graduated 600 seniors with large groups going to UF, FSU, UCF, FAU, and FIU. USF just doesn't draw fans or students from the rest of Florida.

Now being in a lesser conference and having no true rivalry with anyone hurts. Plus the prior four years did not help. If USF goes into a better conference, I can say their tv numbers would be very good. Finally a school doesn’t need to control their market to get consideration. Look at Rutgers to the BIG. The school hardly gains interest from the NY market, and the BIG took them still.
The difference why the b12 adding G5 schools was different is because they were able to add the 4 best teams/brands (Houston ehh). Adding USF who has averaged like 3 wins the last 5 seasons would not help make the other ACC teams feel secure about staying. USF and the b12 might have all been G5, but they were on different tiers. If NC, NC ST, Louisville, etc leave and the ACC backfills with usf, Tulane, Memphis, etc they should lose their autonomy
I disagree with you saying the big12 doesn't need aouth Florida...that conference has like 3 teams back east and its a handicap on traveling...it could help take some of the sting out of that, and make for a real land grab in the state of FL when it comes to recruiting...i understand its not one of the big 3 but the idea is to get as many kids as possible getting the idea of the big12 on their minds.

As far as Miami being pissed and that they would block USF, that is unlikely as well. Plenty of conferences have added a second school in the same state, and while butt-hurt, things went on (see the SEC and Texas & A&M). Finally, "presidents decide on expansion." Culturally, USF fits in the ACC. Four of the current ACC schools have prior conference relationships with USF (SMU, Louisville, Pitt, & Syracuse). Additionally, USF is an AAU school, and that is a big thing for presidents. Also, USF has had solid scheduling arrangements with the ACC and is in the ACC for sailing. It's not a big sport, but it's a relationship-building affiliation. Couple that with the new facilities and the 12th TV market, which also makes ESPN happy, and the Bulls actually make more sense than any other candidates.
