They buried us/ so we became a flower/ believe it/ They gave us nothing /so we took power/ believe it! These words ringloud and clear in this day and time. Thank you Mr. Bernard ✌️
Lee was a fly ass boy all across the board. How I used to copy everything he did. His walk, the way he ran up the subway steps all that. Amazing how movie can impact you? It’s like you never wanted the movie to end too! 😢😢😢
They tried to break us /now we became the breaker/ believe it/we come from the ashes/ the mover and shakers/ believe it! Ooh boi the words of this song are powerful because these words are true!
We really do need someone to license the rights to Beat Street and give us a deluxe blu-ray and soundtrack set, so many good songs not originally released
Bro... it's August 25th 2023... Bernard Fowler is still alive.. there should've been some type of honorable mention in this 50th anniversary of hip hop... 😢.. the people in charge did us wrong.. again 😢
Bernard Fowler and Lisa Fisher who did Only Love Shadows in Beat Street have since the 90s been the back up vocal team for the Rolling Stones. Touring world wide with the Stones. Thats an achievement most of the early hip hop creators and artists never saw or got the oppertunity to have. Most of them living in poor conditions.
without fail every single time I watch this when the breakers come on stage, big lump on my throat. So emotional... perhaps just reminiscing. But to me it is just such a powerful scene with the crowds going wild and the chorus starts with "break, break". A better breakin scene has not been made to this day.
Who's still listening in 2021?? This generation needs this?!!🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿n for peace and blessings for the families of those that were lost to gun violence 🙏🏿🙏🏿🕊️🕊️😢😢#LLQNN JAHNAE PATTERSON AKA BABY DOLL MY NIECE 1-5-02🕊️🕊️🙏🏿 8-5-18
It’s 2022 and I’m still listening to this! I will keep you in my prayers. Ur right this generation needs this badly. This era was when we came together through love, music etc. it didn’t matter what ur ethnicity was. 🙏🏾🕊

All the elements is in the last 2 beatstreet songs but method man was right. I'm 44 and for one of the greatest to shit on the ones that follow actual hip hop after them , from 83 to the real MC's that heard him he shouldn't be that mean but I overstand him. Let's get back to the elements. It's always about growth and who is teaching now? Go head up lyrically G.O.D with Robbie noodles free! Meth is still hotter than most. Reggie. Young cube. He gave Busta his and nobody is fucking with Busta. Believe it!!

Back when I didn't know anything in the back of my mind did know that this song and performance summoned our ancestors and our pan-african experience.
I thought I was the only one who got that feeling when the breakers came on stage
@@lajuaniarice2105I first watched this 40 years ago in the cinema with my crew. Has the same effect on me today as it did then ❤

Can anybody tell me what spanish sample was used at end of the song
what the hell happen to hip hop?
The rappers chose to become rock stars. The rest of the Elements stayed true
They sold out for money.
@@BeatrhymeTV record companies took over as well.
Corporate record labels took over and poisoned it...
It Got Commercialized and got sold out to MUCH EVIL Entities.. Like what happened to BET
Whoever says hip hop culture is homophobic needs to become aware of this and shut up

Liverpool the best city in the world
"Dew-yuu-be-leeave!"
That delivery is forever cringe to me.
He always sounds like a cartoon-y Bill Cosby saying this.
Your comment is cringe 😂
