    Excellent video! Do you know why a Metro North loco is pulling NJ Transit trains? Very interesting.

      Thank you for watching Karl greetings trackside along New Jersey Transit’s Bergen Line in Rutherford, NJ…. These trains where you see Metro-North locos on Transit trains is to ensure enough equipment availability Port Jervis service. It is a decades long agreement between the two Transit agencies called West of Hudson Service. shorturl.at/btx23

      @@LibertyRailfan Thank you! That makes perfect sense. Most of what I see of NJTransit is in the Philadelphia area or the Northeast corridor west(or south) of Princeton, and I had never seen this before. Great stuff! 👍

      @@karlfey thank you Karl yeah the lines up here at Northern NJ... NJTransit actually owns the ROW all the way to Suffern, NY... There are only very few freight trains that use this line now NS H70, H55 and H56 are the only trains.. So it is a real treat to see a few detours once in a while on this line. A few miles away is the normal CSAO Lehigh Line which is CSX & NS freight all day long but due to the NS derailment seeing some diverted road freight on a line that hardly sees freight is a definite treat..
      Anyway, it was good to hear that not one of the crew members got seriously hurt out in Bethlehem PA at the crash/derailment site on the NS Lehigh Line I know things should be getting back to normal routing as the site has mostly been cleaned up enough to allow trains to pass again.

    So THAT'S what Rutherford looks like in the daytime! 🤣🤣🤣
    Neat video Adam! I'm assuming from the look of things they were gearing up for a Saint Patrick's Day parade? Railfans typically don't show up trackside carrying drums and wearing kilts!
    I hope you had a fun day, the weather looked great!

      Thank you for watching Wayne yeah a lot of railfan made it out along the Bergen County Line and they were ready up along the Southern Tier too if this detour train did happen. Yup, many things were going on yesterday at Rutherford the St. Patrick's Day Parade.. Its amazing to see how many people think because the festivities were going on the trains would not run or something.. As you see they had Park Ave closed off of course not on the Parade route through the crossing but the important Bar scene that concludes any St. Patrick's Day parade, it is just amazing to see how many stayed on the tracks shooting the breeze until a train came, and how many people had to walk around the gates because they can't wait for the train.

      @@LibertyRailfan "...stayed on the tracks shooting the breeze." Oh brother. Well, we can't blame unfamiliarity with trains in this case considering the trains run through the center of town and have done for 150 years. It's just plain stupidity and you can't fix stupid.

    Nice video but I’m confused about the NS part of the title. Did you think you’d see some NS freight trains?

    • @LibertyRailfan
      @LibertyRailfan  7 месяцев назад

      Thank you Chris greetings trackside along NJTransit Bergen County Line in Rutherford, NJ. Well as the NS part of the title shows and there was no NS train filmed in the video no NS detour was able to make the run in daylight up to the Southern Tier. Due to the derailment/accident out in Bethlehem PA on Saturday which pretty much took out the normal line/routing for all NS trains that terminate in Northern NJ. Most trains were rerouted to the south going via the CSX Trenton Sub and other lines, but for some reason NS 63V made its way up Croxton from Oak Island and NS was going to run the Train over Transit then hook up with NYSW at Port Jervis to take the train to Binghamton.
      The NS 63V detour never happened due Transit's own problems along the route, something to do with Signaling issues and some sort of police activity somewhere around Sloatsburg. All NJT Port Jervis train were running late due to these issues, so even though 63V was waiting at HX which is the connection for NS on the Bergen County Line the crew had to wait around 4 hours before scrapping the detour run for the time being.. I am not too sure what they have done since then but I think they went a different way.

      @@LibertyRailfan Thank you for the detailed explanation. I’ve been wondering where all the NS trains were being rerouted to. Not a lot of information I’ve been able to find.
