I'm so sorry for your loss, and everyone affected by this storm 😢my family and I had plans to come to your lodge this month 😢keeping everyone in my prayers ❤
This just absolutely breaks my heart for this very special place. We have been blessed to visit Hoyt Johnson and his Big Lynn Lodge many times. In fact we have a reservation there for later on this month. We always love to go up there for the beauty of fall. My heart has been breaking and I have been so anxious to hear about how Hoyt and all the people there are doing. Have they been rescued? Do they have food and water? The last I knew his sister sent out a plea for help. I have heard nothing since so thank you so much for this report. Praying they get help and a lot of it soon now.
They are supposedly still isolated but there are helicopter drops to them. Just going to take time to dig it all out. Keep your reservation and let them have they money - these people need the help right now.
@@RogerTheJanitor Oh yes, once we can be in touch we will tell them to keep the money. I am finally seeing that they are getting supplies dropped to them including the very needed generator. So that is giving them hope.
Hoyt is hanging in there. He & I have been friends for over 10 years now. My wife & I have made 2 supply drops at Big Lynn starting with the Monday right after the hurricane left the area. The owner of the Alpine Inn was also there on the 2nd run & we got to speak w him also. Getting supplies in to him wasn't easy. There's one access road that they have and that's it. Good news is that Hoyt is ok, the BIG Lynn Lodge is ok...but the people he is sheltering have NOTHING. Spoke w Hoyt a couple days ago & he is doing ok, considering what they all went through.
@@kellysmith4625 Thank you so much for this current reply. Bless you for getting in there with some supplies. I have listened to two different videos and at first Hoyt said two of his staff lost everything and then he said three of his staff lost everything. I have also seen videos that say Hoyt himself lost his home down the mountain BUT in the videos I have seen of him talking, he says nothing about him loosing his home. So we are hoping that was wrong info. We will get back to Big Lynn Lodge one day when things get back to having us visitors but I am thinking that may take a long time. All so very very sad.
Wow wow wow What is camping at Crabtree Meadows about four weeks ago drove by there around 8 o’clock one Saturday morning to go down the main 226 To go home via Marianne and interstate 40 love the area up there so sad
I know the area,.. it's beautiful, would always go back, all the time, for year's. Please, vote, and so I can vote again as an American, too. I promise, I'll be back in 2025,and,help,do whatever,or,at least bring supplies. We're Americans,my dad was a WW2 veteran. He saw 35k ppl die in one day. We all can do better.
Anybody here have any news from the Chestnut Grove church community just beyond the parkway from Little Switzerland? Any info would be welcome. I'd like to pass it on to my sister who was in Alaska when this happened, she lives not far from the church. They are rushing home due to family concerns, and I'd at least like to know if the area is accessible to let them know before the get here and be (hopefully not) disappointed.
Salvation Army is up there, Samaritans Purse is up there. Wouldn't recommend Red Cross. They don't have a good track record. There us an aviation group taking donations, I'd recommend money. They need fuel to keep going.

Stayed a night in Little Switzerland about 15 years ago. It is/was a beautiful place.

My thoughts are with you. I'm in Florida and never seen anything like it.
How can people in other NC counties donate funds for recovery teams?? Has someone setup GoFundMe???

Donate to only churches in the area like Grindstone
