    Thanks to all involved in highlighting this, it has been going on for years on the grounds of protecting the moor for grouse. Would encourage everyone to thumbs up this video and share where you can, this will push it up the suggested video rank from youtube and help spread the message. Puiblic pressure is the only thing that will stop this.

      I,m afraid that part is a lie the hares are culled,the same as deer and the grazing is limited and there are areas that have to be protected as they are SSSI,s and the numbers culled are dictated by SNH fact.

      Looking at your name you look like you work outside, and by all accounts have no understanding of whats required to keep it healthy. Chris never mentions tick or liver fluke wiping out massive numbers of hare and everything around them. thats one of the main reasons for culling to keep disease at bay standard farming practice for centuries.

      Norman Murray hare have more than enough predators foxes hunt them as well as golden eagles. If hares go extinct in Scotland then the golden eagles will loose their food source and die. Also mountain hares are a native species and should be protected

    Their argument is crazy ,What a wonderful video Chris and sad that once again you are battling against a tide of cruelty little better than Malta and cruel with it .I contend the members of the Scottish Government know but , as with so much they like to stay good friends with the wealthy estate owners at any price .The proof you have here is a case but the fine words we heard on film will go no further ... That's my boycott of Scotland .They are ruthless.Thanks for your great work

According to the SNP government the deer are not managed enough and they are paying 10 million pounds to wipe out 90% of the red deer in Scotland as well as small businesses that rely on the deer in the tourism industry.. Now thats a Fact you could get active about.

    Such a disgrace these killers are to the human race.
    Humans have the ability to protect animals but yet there are so many that get enjoyment from killing animals.
    There is a fine line between killing animals or humans. Some of these killers may have the possibility of becoming psychopaths
    ( thats my opinion )

    • @James-gc5if
      @James-gc5if 6 лет назад +1

      You can be a psychopath without ever killing a person (and I would agree with you that it is quite likely that psychopaths would enjoy hunting animals), and you certainly can't become a psychopath over the course of your life. You either are or you're not. That's not my opinion, that's fact.

If it wasnt for managed estates Mountain Hare numbers would be a mere fraction of what they are currently. Try watching a video by the people who manage the moors and see the actual facts on Mountain Hares not Easter Bunnies.

    It's shocking that such an activity can be perpetrated on such a scale based on no evidence whatsoever. There is something deeply wrong. In Ireland we have had trouble with illegal hare coursing and lamping going unchecked and even uninvestigated despite a link being found between these activities and burglaries and robberies (the hunters were simultaneously casing properties). However, it all came to a head a few months ago when a group of coursers injured a horse belonging to a very wealthy individual from the Middle East... suddenly something was being done because it was almost an international incident. I have heard prosecutions occurred almost immediately. Never underestimate the laziness of the authorities.

    • @HelenaMikas
      @HelenaMikas 6 лет назад +1

      The authorities from Governments to Local level and law care little for the every day person who pays taxes ..Let one wealthy person get involved and they move ... SHAME ON ALL WHO HUNT .SHAME ON WEAK GOVERNMENTS

    • @sam2cents
      @sam2cents 6 лет назад +1

      Well, to be honest there are people in all walks of life, and at all levels, who do care, but the system is set up in such a way as to be indifferent to anything which is not definitely catered for in law, and often the wrong people are working in the wrong jobs in government at all levels, and they really are indifferent to everything. And add laziness into that mix. However, there is clearly something wrong in society when people want to kill creatures just for the sake of killing them, and where basic laws about animal cruelty are not being enforced. However, I never knew anything like this was happening in the British Isles, so a lot of it could be a case of simply not knowing about it. So videos like this are very important. Sadly, wealthy people do have the only clout which seems to spark the authorities into doing their jobs.

    • @HelenaMikas
      @HelenaMikas 6 лет назад +1

      What stinks is the Scottish minister saying they need proof and dates etc etc . It's all there to see.and Chris Packham is honest Very much so . The problem with UK and many European countries is that they allow cats and dogs then all other animals should be in a zoo or they are deemed a pest and a health hazard . Pathetic way a nanny society has gone .They themselves are but nature but fail to see it . Tragic .

    • @sam2cents
      @sam2cents 6 лет назад

      I agree with you. There was a grey squirrel cull here, for a scientific experiment carried out by UCD to see whether reducing them influenced red squirrel numbers, and when it was eventually shown how the squirrels were killed there was widespread disgust as it was extremely brutal by any standards. The experiment required the killing of 20,000 squirrels and the payment of a very large grant to the researchers, and the findings were initially reported as 'inconclusive'. But I think the idea was, as usual, mainly for money to be made. There are some very ruthless scientists out there.
