@Microwave - Do you own any Cold Steel? I bought a few Kukri from Tops years ago. They're junk compared to Cold Steel. They make stuff that LOOKS nice but it's not functional. Once you get a Cold Steel blade you'll see. Nothing compares. Price and quality both in Cold Steel. I have over 90 pieces.
@SoccerStar28 - I agree also, American made is a better ideal. But also I've seen a lot of rip offs. Not everything from Amazon that says Cold Steel is from them. I saw one with a similar logo but it was slightly different. I only buy direct. I've never had anything bought direct that wasn't exact and razor sharp. I think that's a lot of how Amazon makes so much money is their counterfeits.
@SoccerStar28 - I have many. On a generic type it is absolutely the Kukri. I have about 7 from Cold Steel (a 9" and 5 that are the traditional 12"). But I also EDC a 6" Vaquero Grande serrated in my right pocket (for 27 years) and in March of 2021 I ordered a Rajah ll and started carrying that EDC in my left pocket. I was truly blown away by the Rajah ll. It is incredibly solid and heavy, like a mini Kukri. But their shovels are incredible, their Boat Spear, Torpedos, all their Tantos are amazing. One day, my dream weapon will be their Nodachi. 🥰
I like knifes to collect and never really took notice of cold steel, then I bought a folder and now going to try and collect as much as possible, impressed
I love my boot knife and my survivalist. I encourage to everybody to pick what suits your purposes or collect it all, they never let you down. For example I used my survivalist when my mom can't cut a frozen chunk of meat, men that stuff was rock solid, so I batoning and in 4 blows that rock of meat was cut in half. By the way I never feel concern about damaging the blade, is build like a king tiger panzer. So bravo Cold Steel!! Bravo Mr. Thompson!! Your company looks like a pretty happy place to work.
My favourites are the battle ring and the boot knife. I love the concept of "drop forge" for small, EDC knives. For large - or extra large - knives, mmmm... I prefer the classic forged knife, with confortable scales. The hunter one is spectacular. I'm from Argentina and it is very difficult for almost everyone to import CS products. The only "Cold Steel authorized dealer" in Buenos Aires - the shop says so - sells only products from 2 or 3 years ago, 3 times the price from the CS website. I hope some day CS open a Cold Steel Shop - or choose a better bussines partner - where we, the CS fans, could buy all the loved and formidable products at reasonable price. Greatings!
Have you tried ordering from ltspecpro.com ? It says they do international shipping, and that is where you are supposed to buy from if you don't live near an authorized dealer.
These are great. The Boot Knife in particular is outstanding. Literally the only flaw that these babies have is the teflon coating. Not only is the coating very weak and prone to abrasion, but low-quality teflon is usually kind of a health and environmental nightmare in its production process at least. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), also known as C8, is still often used around the world in the process of making Teflon and similar substances (known as fluorotelomers). Most of it is _usually_ burned off during the process and is supposed to not be present in significant amounts in the final products. That isn't always the case, however. This is mostly why it's advised by veterinarians to not use teflon-coated pans and cooking utensils in the general vicinity of pets or livestock. If you occasionally ingest this stuff or occasionally breathe in vapors released by heating it, it'll usually not cause too much problems over an average human lifetime; but it's best to avoid it if possible. Also, your body will never get rid of it. It accumulates in blood and tissue (human or otherwise) because of its particular physical properties; and it cannot be normally evacuated by any known living organism. The use of PFOA and some closely related substances (such as PFOS) is now rightly phased out in the USA and at least some other G8 countries, although they are still made and used in many other countries around the world. IDK about Taiwan though, so that's a maybe? In short, this coating should probably not be considered food-safe, and these otherwise-great knives should probably not be used to process game or prep food very often. Get rid of that teflon coating, the knives are better without it anyway.
I like these Cold Steel Corner videos, and I think this combined with some more test footage (similar to the usual Cold Steel videos) would work really well for Cold Steel's channel. Good job guys! I hope to see more of these Cold Steel Corner videos.
I have the first edition Drop Forged Survivalist, as shown in the video. It is a nice knife! Tough and durable! I did wrap the handle with tennis and electrical tapes. It goes outside with me when I work in the yard.
I was looking at these on amazon there super cheap. The listing didn’t say what kinda steel it used so I thought they were training knives. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
In my experience the Battle Ring II is the most accessible, MOLLE compatible blade they make. It’s light, easy to hide-very chest rig friendly-highly recommend!
Is it sharp? Is it for hunting? Can anyone recommend me a self defense knife? Portable yet strong enough. I work a shift night I’m not a very safe neighborhood I think I need one in my bag
Omg that weird clicking sound in the lockup! My prolite makes that sound it has to do with the leaf spring scrapping on the locking bar thought it was broken too since it didn't want to close after opening it but I took it apart and ground off material off the rounded base and lip of the locking surface on the blade and the top hook of the locking bar and now it's flawless. Didn't fix that clicking sound though. I also own a rajah 2, voyager L, ti lite and counter point and none of them do that clicking sound but besides that they are all flawless except the prolite which I easily fixed. I love the clip point on the prolite and wish to see that blade shape on future knives. As for the drop forges series I love the bowie style I wish there was holes predrilled so I can make my own handle scales but none the less i think they are quite neat and now learned how they are made. 4/20/2019 - after removing one of the handle scales and testing the closing of the prolite again i found that the top of locking bar near the blades pivot clicks so i was wrong about the spring. seems to be getting caught slightly on the handle scales molded injection marks so i polished the locking bar and sanded the handle scale surfaces where the top 1/3rd of the bar has contact with and now its pretty quiet. I know i can easily send it in and am more than sure cold steels amazing customer service will fix and or replace it but i like little projects like this.
Really wish CS made a miniaturised version of the Survivalist blade (3" or 4") and shortened the clip point. Such an amazing design, but can't really carry an 8" fixed blade as an EDC. XD
love the drop forged Bowie. when are you guys gonna make a scandi grind blade in sk5,3v or san mai? thats pretty much the only blade style missing from your catalogue. i mean you have the finn wolf and finn hawk. and a long discontinued sisu. but we need a bushcrafting full tang strength of cold steel;)
If you could make a similar to Bark river gunny LT or even better a similar desing to Lionsteel M4, made with 52100, you would sell more knives, that you have eer sold and you would have, the most happy customers! This steel is simply magic,no steel comes even close. IMHO Most suitable steel, for any fixed blade, except the fishing or dive knives. The hunter is very heavy for a 4 inch knife, it also doesn't have a handle with good ergos. Make my wish happen and everybody will be a Winner!
Remind the guys that BO-wie (bo like a Japanese martial arts bo staff) was a British singer from the 70's and 80's who sang Magic Dance and got to dance with Jennifer Connelly in the movie Labyrinth. BOO-wie (boo like Casper the Friendly Ghost's cousin says to scare people) was a Colonel who died defending the Alamo from invading Mexicans.
I know your comment is 2 years old, but did you ever get the updated Survivalist? I got it and it's a Strong Sharp Tank of a knife! The Wasp is awesome too! if you like daggers.
MAKE A DROP FORGED BUTTERFLY KNIFE. You know the FGX balisong that is all plastic? Create all the pieces from drop forged steel, mill it, coat it. Expensive process, but it could compete with Benchmade.
I will have to get one of those Survivalist knives in the darker scheme. My all time favorite knife of yours is the Trail Master!!! P/S Have, or are your guys going to make a Stockman pocket knife again? I so want one, but when I've seen them on eBay their at a premium, & at those prices I'd rather get a new one in the box.

I USED TO BE a Cold Steel only guy... since the apparent discontinuation of the TrailMaster and Recon Scout, Ive been looking elsewhere at basic knives. What can Lynn be thinking?? Yeah I can see "progress", but why sink the flagships that built your brand? Sad.
Battle ring My favorite it’s what I want for years BUT I will never buy fuzzies price it’s for me like $20 and I know what is drop forge . Second one I want to all these knives handle like “hide out” It’s no problem. Small tube Waze is Tam it’s no problem. Put Small tube from Thermoplastic resine for five cents. From all of these series it’s a really uncomfortable clip he should be something near ring but bit near blade
I mean, I love cold steel and their knives are awesome, that battle ring is just perfect, but is it just me or are they trying to hard to be like knife banter from blade HQ???

No one beats Cold Steel. I absolutely love these guys. Lynn's vision is crazy awesome. I only buy Cold Steel. And have for over 25 years.
There are other good things out there too. One day add blueberries to your pancakes, it won't ruin them I promise.

Cold Steel should of pre drilled all the handles so you could add your own scales.
