  • "NO", we're not suggesting the Alfa is faster, it's just driven a lot better.
    Check the Nissan GTR @2.00 min. We see it once, then it's gone. Like it should be.
    So the Orange GT3RS with 400+ bhp should leave the Alfa 156V6 (FWD, 240 bhp max) in it's dust.
    However....
    If you know you're struggling, let someone with more experience pass, even if he's driving a 1998 Alfa V6.
    Don't fight to stay in front, it's not a race. You'll just look stupid trying.
    It's often better to follow a better driver in a slower car, you might actually learn something about the Nordschleife?
    But his "EGO" got the better of him.
    Driver (Stevie) has driven many laps on the Nordschleife, in 911's, M3 CSL, 147GTA and in this video a 156 V6. He loves the 911. In this case he knows the car and track a bit better then the Porsche driver in front.
    And it shows, that's why we post this.
    Hope you enjoy.
    Driver: Stevie (aka Wonderfulhagrid / Steve Warson)
    Video recorded during a Trackday, not Touristenfahrt!!!

    I can't help but to compliment the driver in the Alfa, absolutely good skills and really know the best line to take for every corner. Like he said, "It's often better to follow a better driver in a slower car, you might actually learn something about the Nordschleife?" - wish I have that chance too, and hope the driver on the Porsche reads the above.......

    Very well driven, using all the track and the kerbs where it's possible. That Porsche driver is constantly over braking, I was half expecting you to whack him up the arse at a couple of points. 911 has a typically inexperienced driver, fast in a straight line and slow through the twisty's, but more to the point, arrogant and therefore dangerous to follow. He should have let you through at the start. Hope you punched him in the face really fucking hard back in the pits!

    • @WrUSasu

      The part at Adenauer Forst was extremely dangerous by the Porsche, could have ended very badly tbh. what a dick with his pride...

    • @leponti
      @leponti 9 лет назад +3

      bugattieb110ss I think he just had to break constantly way before the Alfa... That car i by nature unbalanced due to all the weight in the back of its fat ass... add to that the little expierence shown by his raceline... There you go, what we have in here it´s an unexpierenced driver with (in some ways) a hard to drive car in such a dynamic circuit like this... IN A NUTSHELL: The Alfa could´ve been seen way faster along the whole circuit if it weren´t for this mischievous little egoist person behid the 911. My personal opinion: The clocks would´ve been much better for the Alfa in a laptime than the 911 if taken separately. WHY? Because Alfa can do WAY faster curves than that 911 (Even in the context of equally good drivers, it shows...)

    • @bugattieb110ss

    • @WrUSasu

      So the fact that you have to drive on the right side of the track and let faster people pass doesn't matter? In fact he could be fined 80€ and get a point (which can lead to the loss of his drivers licence) for what he did with his Porsche.

    Very good driving. You must know the track very well. Your lines and placing before crests is great. And what a lovely sound this engine makes. Q2 means it has the limited slip differential, right? That would explain why the cars doesn't plow (understeer) in the corners that much. You reasoning why you use the 3.0 instead of the 3.2 makes a lot of sense. Maybe if i win in the lottery I start a project like this. I drive a 2001 1.8 156 and enjoy it (within legal limits of course ;) ) very much.

      Sorry, I'm a huge Alfa fan but I've driven an almost new 2005 twin turbo 3.8L 911 when they came out and those things are something else all together. You can't honestly stick up for an NA Alfa 156 (even a GTA) against those 911's. Same weight, but twice the HP.

    • @fredsalfa

      @@doraexplora9046 I’ve driven a 996 and 997.2 Carrera, they are quicker no doubt but they won’t blow away an Alfa V6 3.0L chasing it. I had the GTV 3.0 and it’s not that slow. And it depends how hard your pushing in the Alfa. If your driving hard in the Alfa and just cruising in the Porsche it would be annoying is my point

      it's not about lines - it's about etiquette on the track. There are rules and IF his(her) ego would have let the Alfa through then many edgy situations would have been avoided. • @writeStevie
      @writeStevie 7 лет назад

      Both brakes and clutch life depend completely on quality and driver skill. I know many fast drivers, I know very few who can make the stuff last. Stock 330mm Brembo GTA-rubbish lasts about 1 day/20 laps omg this car, the 322mm Movit fitted to this car lasted about 100 laps for pads, about 300 laps for discs. You can see where the expensive upgrade becomes a cost-saver... Clutch never failed us, it was replaces during other repairs like Q2 install and an engine replacement after polybelt failure (which lifted the timing belt) on road. For costs: budget 50 euros per lap wear and tear, going down if more than 100 laps/year are run.

      I know AR. I think I read somewhere that he tested it to around 250 HP and that brakes/setup etc easily match the 156 GTA. So we quite agree: His 156 is awesome. But... and I'm no Porsche-Expert here, this bettle looks just like the 997 GT3. Walter Röhrl completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes 42 seconds with the 997 GT3. And even if it's neither Walter or a GT3, there should be quite enough power and handling to leave the 156 behind. But... Goliath seems heavy and David Wheels him in, in almost every corner. I say Again: VERY good driving skills ;-)

    • @alfaromeo5069

      The GT3 is a far superior car. But track racing is an another story.
      The first thing to have is race braking pads that are not road legal. Driving at Nurturing is very risky. Drivers crash their cars on oil leak around a very long track. It is better and safer to drive at Spa or Brand Hatch.

    It does not need tons of horsepower to drive well. The driver of the Alfa Romeo is a god, the driver of the Porsche is a rich man with car Women trailer.Alfa Romeo cuore sportivo.

    why do you use the 3.0 and not the 3.2 of GTA??

    Don't know, don't care. The car has the (shorter) gearbox and thin driveshafts from the 2.5 so we're quite gentle with first gear.

    Having seen this now for the 3rd or 4th time I think you don;t have enough grip. Either tires are too hard for the track and temp or not enough camber.
