Hi Renee, my hair colour went from Strawberry blonde to suddenly starting to darken when I was mid twenties, after humming and haaing a while I took the plunge to colour it so I was more like myself. A couple of years back I suddenly became allergic to the dye. So...now 52 on July 11th I have what I call mousy brown...but..I can see the strands of red which I love ❤️ and the odd white one 😂 and yes... staying exactly like I am 🌟 So...good on you Renee ❤

I decided to stop coloring my hair because I don't want anything to do with chemicals in anything anymore, my hair was falling out by the handfuls when I washed it. It's already so much fuller now. And I wanted to see what it looks like naturally. I want to be my authentic self. Constant salon appts were stressing me out too. I'm 55 and grew mine out 3 inches so far and it's not as grey as I thought it would be. I'm actually Loving all the different colors and highlights I missed seeing in my younger years that hair dyes just can't mimic. I completely understand you . Thanks for your inspiration ❤

Getting rid of the chemicals was my main motive to stop coloring. It was not easy to see the gray at first, but once my hair grew out I got beautiful white highlights. Also get a lot of complements 😊

Getting rid of the chemicals was HUGE for me! The itching, headaches, and brain fog were miserable. And getting started on the grow out process is a challenge...and I'm so glad you got through it. Best wishes! 💗

9 months into my grey hair transformation and loving every moment. I expect my shoulder length hair will take two years as well. I agree with every single point you made. In addition I can feel my new grey hair is healthier and I’m getting lots of new hairs filling in spots that were thin in the past. And I’m astounded at how many people compliment my hair even at this stage. I’m excited for the final result! It is a great lesson in patience and giving yourself grace to embrace your true self. ❤

Love your hair! I went grey after looking at photos from skydiving… I could see my roots and I thought,” who am I kidding?” I was 48 at first it was difficult and I felt like a little old lady but as my confidence increased I now wear my grey with the wisdom of a beautiful older woman. Cheers lady!

I just turned 80, and I let my hair go gray 20 years ago. I was relieved and happy from Day 1, and I still love it for most of the same reasons you love yours, Renee. And I enjoyed watching your journey! But my hair is not curly at all. It's straight as a stick, but I love it, anyway.

I absolutely love you curly gray hair . As soon as I found out my daughter was pregnant, I did two things taught myself how to crochet 🧶 , and I stopped dying my very dark brown long hair . I was born with naturally wavy/ curly hair but growing up no one knew how to care for it so I did keratin treatments Brazilian treatments flat ironed blew dry. I found an amazing product and learned techniques and I’m in love with my new found gray curls . However as mush as I loved my long gray hair, at least 7 inches or so was stringy so I decided to cut it short and mama Mia what curls very much like your hair texture Renee . mine is thick course , and frizzy I am 63 yrs young and look younger now with gray hair then my Dk brown hair. And boy do I get compliments . This past Christmas season I was at Christmas tree shop I wore a red fringed cowl neck poncho . And believe me uou wear red and you get stared at lol anyway a gentleman turns and says to me I looked like a woman right out of a hallmark Christmas movie lololol I just smiled and said thank you kindly 🌻🌻🌻

I’ve had gray hair for about 10 years now. It is long with some curl/ body. I can wear it straight or with curl. I have broken the rules by letting it grow long with many layers. I like being myself and not being someone I’m not. Like you, I get compliments often from older/ younger folks. I love it when a younger person comes up and says you are rocking that gray hair. I prayed for pretty gray hair when I decided to go gray. I felt bad asking the good Lord for pretty gray hair because there is so much more important things to ask for. Now when I get compliments I credit Emmy Lou Harris for inspiration and God for the gift. I wish more women could find the confidence to be themselves.

I always said I would never go grey. When I was 64 my mother had a stroke at the end of 2020. I moved in with her and by July I said enough. I was coloring my hair myself so it wasn't the cost. It was just the hassle and having roots. I just stopped cold turkey and I learned to embrace it. It is now a lovely shade of silver with a little dark grey mixed in. My mom calls it gun metal grey. I stopped caring what other people thought. Unfortunately I don't have a single curl, not a wave, just perfectly straight hair. I've learned to live with it.

You helped me make the decision to start the grey journey. I became a grandmother in 2020 at the age of 53 and decided it was time to start so I began looking up videos on how to do it. I do not have as much grey as you yet, but I do have the curls! It made it easier having curls, it just blended better. #12 Embracing age ... We are all aging, and it is so important to live in the moment and embrace our life changes ... I don't want to miss anything because of fear of aging ... I'm 48 and embracing the white hair that has started coming in around my face. It actually looks really nice with my blonde hair. Also, I've stopped wearing makeup almost completely. I've realized that my skin is beautiful even with some imperfections ... Getting older is part of our journey. I'm here for it too, Renee!!! I love your channel and newsletters! At 65 I am salt and pepper grey. I started going grey in my 50's and having never dyed my hair I knew I didn't have the patience to start! I also wanted to see what the pattern would be. Embracing your age and self acceptance is liberating.
Recognising the multiple social pressures that entrap so many woman is so important. Commercialsm depends on people hating themselves and therefore needing products, surgery etc.
May i just add that the use of negative language eg. Chicken wings..floppy arms.
    Is so unhelpful.
I shudder when i hear women use destructive words.
We are free to describe ourselves but mockery is never helpful.

Your hair looks gorgeous, Renee and the biggest is you embrace it.
I was not ready to make the transition and none were the reasons you listed even though I was basically colouring short of 3 weeks and my scalp was itchy & full of little bumps & blisters. Just before leaving for my 2 month Camino, I planned to dye my hair just 1-2 days before leaving so my hair was nearly white. In the end I run out of time and did not. It was the best decision I had made and have kept it white and at the age of 72 my hair & scalp are healthy and I thank you for the encouragement. I wear mine short because of my long walks & hikes. I am told that it suits me and now that I am tanned it is more striking.

I had been thinking of letting my silvers shine but was hesitant. Then my Dad passed away. He had amazing hair his whole life. Dark in his youth and as he aged he never covered it. I guess most men don't but i look back over pics and it is wonderful to see his hair change. Bits of silver at first then areas filling in. His hair was so beautiful. Bright. I remember thinking how he had never seen my true hair color that was so similar in color and pattern to his 😢. All he saw was my real color as a child and then the color it took on as a teen spraying on sun in or making it this or that color. Then as an adult covering it to a flat dark brown almost charcoal "dust" appearance or sometimes a reddish brown as it would wear off. No depth really. It just hit me hard that he hadnt seen my hair but i had such similar hair to his. Texture, thickness, color. It should look similar to his but it looked very opposite. And why? After he passed away I covered them a couple more times but then finally ditched it. I feel so free now. My silvers shine and I can't wait until it is fully grown out. I have curly hair as well and I'm only 49 so I also spent so much of my life fighting my hair because curls were a big no. I stopped straightening it many years ago and wish i would've stopped the color then or never even started. I think aging is so often looked at as life being over but for me it has been when I've learned the most about myself beyond appearance. I turn 50 this year and this is the birthday I look forward to the most. It will be the first one I mark that I truly experience with no negative feelings about my appearance and it is not at all what "society" would consider ideal.
I love your channel and that you encourage others to embrace the beauty within and let it simply flow outward. That is a beauty no cream or procedure will ever provide ❤

Hi Renee, going to the hairdresser's should make you feel good about yourself, not feel poorly with a headache 😢 Your grey hair now looks amazing and I just love those curl's. And it's true every colour you wear suits you perfectly. Regards to the family and Moo and Pollux🇬🇧🌞💛

I love your grey hair! Mine is broken grey and dull. Hate it. Has been this way for five years. I'm about 50/50 in color. My mother was totally white. Enough venting! Have a great week!

I cut my hair short summer of 2019 and haven’t colored it since. I’ve been white/grey since I was 50. 😊 I love that I never have to worry about my roots again!!

I went grey starting in July 2019 and it only took 10 months and a shorter cut. I’ve never looked back. I love the freedom of not having to color my hair. I am 55 now. I found you back then and have loved your channel & all your topics. Thank you for all you do!

I decided to grow out my grey after seeing your videos. I came across them a year after you started your journey. I watched every single video that you had posted about your grow out. THANK YOU! Your list was exactly the list I would give if I was asked about why I like to being grey. Like you, I get TONS of compliments on my grey and never got a single one when I was coloring it. I would never go back!!

I agree with 13/14… my curls went weird when they went grey, so I straighten it and I love it. However, your channel provided me so much support and it has been 4 years since I stopped coloring and my hair is the most beautiful and healthy as it has ever been!

I began following you 3 years ago when I started my gray journey. It started during Covid. I desperately needed a haircut but everything was closed. My husband cut it for me and then I colored it. Within a week my roots were showing. I was done. It was time for natural hair and I don’t regret it . Wished I’d never colored my hair ever, it would have been nice to see how it turned naturally instead of being shocked that it was pretty much all gray. Thanks for all the encouragement and advice over the past 3 years.

Another benefit, no color stain on skin on face after color. I also have to agree with I hated the root outvgrowth, the skunk look. Also the health benefits from not putting chemicals on head, money, and time savings. Another thing you mentioned before how the color hair did not look natural with skin tone. I too get compliments on my natural color often. How beautiful and shiny it is! Thanks Renee for your support on this topic. I have not regretted this decision.

I started going gray at 39 - that was 30 years ago. I’ve never colored my hair - was fully gray in my 40s - and as a result, people tell me I haven’t changed at all - that I still look like I did 20 years ago! 😂❤️
And P.S. like you, it’s a head full of curls!!

Very fortunate my hairdresser practically refuses to color my hair. I'm a natural redhead, and she says there's no way it would really look good. Renee, you are an encouragement to go with you natural hair color. When telling your story of how coloring your hair would make you feel, that's enough to never make me want to do it!

I love your 14 Reasons why video. I started the process on Nov.1. Chose to cut it off into a pixie and be done with it!!! I love it love love love it. There’s still brown on top a bit but it will get chopped off. I ordered the purple shampoo you recommended. Thanks for that info.
Again, your video affirmed why and how I am feeling.

Hello, Renee! Last September, immediately after coloring my hair, AGAIN (ugggh) I decided I didn't want to go through the pain of coloring my hair anymore. I was 46 at the time (now 47). I went to RUclips to find some inspiration on going grey and I found your channel. Oh my, I am SO very glad I did! I watched several of your videos on your grey hair journey and I knew I wanted to go for it!! Nine months later, I am super happy with my decision!!! Every day I get excited to see my natural highlights and it makes my curly hair look more alive!! My journey continues and I am here for it!!
Thank you for posting this video and all of your content, you are doing great!! I enjoy them all!!! Blessings to you from California!

Yes! Mine took nearly three years because I wear it longer. I, too, had purple hair briefly. I looked like a Disney fairy! I had pure white hair as a child so mine is various silver and ash blonde shades and a bit of unexpected brown. I do better with silver shampoo for brightening. Thanks for being so loud and proud about all aspects of your hair journey and what I suspect are very common for 50 year olds taking the leap. I am going in for lots of long layers soon to give me more movement. I can’t wait. 💜💜💜

I have been transforming into my true gray self over the past six months from medium brown. I love it. My natural hair has several different shades & looks like it was professionally highlighted! I have never received so many compliments on my hair & it is so easy. No more worrying about roots showing & putting unhealthy chemicals on my scalp. Renee, thanks for helping push me to go "natural".🌹

I agree 💯 with all of your reasons. I decided to go grey during the pandemic when I couldn’t go to the salon and not many people would see my skunk period. It actually went faster and easier than I thought it would. The dark dye on my grey hair just no longer matched my skin tone. And I had developed sores on my scalp and my hair was getting so damaged from the dye. Now my scalp and hair are healthy again!

i went gray 3 1/2 years ago; right after I retired. You were one of my inspirational silver sisters that kept me going. It has been a life changer for me and positive in every way. I encourage women to give it a chance if they're leaning in that direction. Once you get through the first few months, it gets easier and the payoff is amazing hair and some extra spending money.

Hi Renee! I too have shoulder length curly gray hair and LOVE it. My natural color as an adult was a mousy light brown, but now with silver streaking the rest it looks blonde! Hardly a day goes by that someone doesn't compliment me on my hair. No one ever complimented me on the mousy light brown, and my color now flatters my skin tone like never before! I hardly need make-up! Like you, I would recommend that anyone who's tempted to go natural--DO IT!
