i just started reselling clothes and i was shopping at a thrift store and i saw a brand of something that i have on my ebay and i was thinking that's like a no name brand that is never going to get sold im not going to pick anything else up in that brand and literally an hour after i got home someone bought it i was so shocked. oh also someone tried to haggle me on a pair of shorts and only wanted to pay 7 instead of 11 and i countered 9 and they declined and not even 20 minutes later someone else bought them at full price. sorry i'm just super excited about that i've only sold about 20 things total in the past month since starting but on sunday i made four sales in one day i was so shocked lol
Awesome 👏. Hoping to list my first item soon. I think that would be exciting too!!!
I’m about the same at 20 sales a month just started a couple months ago. I get a little dopamine hit every time I hear my eBay app make that cha-Ching sound😂
Love that “ cha ching”
Hahaha! Justin, I must admit, the moment you opened the door and started showing us your inventory waiting to be processed, I cracked up laughing! I think it's a relief for ALL of us resellers when we see that fellow resellers are also quite often swamped with a death pile.

Been selling on eBay since 2001 and love that I still learn things regularly by watching RUclipsrs like yourself. Deleting photos off my phone has been a dreaded task for years and all this time it was as easy as hitting a toggle button. Thanks Justin!
Loved seeing your basement set up. Your theatre area rocks
love your editing skills in this video, the transition @1:12 to your basement tour was on point!
Justin, that pause & walk around was awesome ❤❤❤❤❤ thank you for sharing.
This is incredible... I happen to know that the average Skims product costs $3.45 to make, and the most expensive item (this includes outterware and hoodies) costs less than $8.00 THE MOST EXPENSIVE ITEM. I don't know which item that is, but that's an incredible markup for a brand that's all cheap imports.
Man I’m glad you mentioned the photos setting. That was really annoying.
Thank you for telling us how to not store ebay photos to our phone! I've been meaning to look up how. What a relief to uncheck that box!
Thank you for the tour! Great set up!
I’ve just started selling seriously a week ago and have sold $300 so far. $50 today. This is good news to me to hear that this is the slow time of year!
Luna’s question was a good one, as it pertains to me and my store. I’m primarily a pet sitter, a part time eBayer, and do not depend on eBay to pay the bills. Naturally, summer is busier for pet sitting. I am not putting as much effort into my store at this time, which is reflected in a drop in sales. It’s only my second summer as a seller so I’m still learning the rhythm of the seasons. Your videos are helping me to understand how this typically works.
My store is on vacation because I’m slammed with bookings this month, including overnights away from home. I don’t want to stress myself out trying to get home to pack & ship. I was shocked that I still made two sales of shoes this week. Much easier to pack than my usual fragile items!
Justin, excellent video as always! Your basement area is HUGE!!! omg I'm so jealous in the nicest way possible. Im in SoCal and basements and sometimes even garages are non existent! AKA I have neither at my house.
Same. We don't have basements. Can't even afford a house. Condos are 750k, north of Seattle in Canada where we're from.
@@misteress8008 right now in Compton CA, $750K would get you a three bedroom house. Things are crazy, didn't know it was that crazy up north too! Good luck to us all!
Thank you so much for addressing my question! Over the past few days, I took your advice and I've been using sell similar on my oldest listings, 5 to 6 a day, and my views are back up and I even made a sale today of one of the items I JUST relisted 🙌🏻 appreciate you!
Glad it's working out :)
There ain't no cure for the summertime blues. My eBay account has been suffering from a serious cricket infestation since just after Father's Day.
There are cures, it's a matter of if you want to do them.
There is a product called Un-du that will remove tape from paper/cardboard without ruining the paper/cardboard. While I've never personally used it, I have seen others use it successfully. It can't be sold in California for some reason.
Yes, I use that and it works well…doesn’t damage the paper or cardboard underneath.
thank you 🙏 i’ll check it out
It can't be sold in CA probably because of Prop 65 (which you may have seen in the ebay listings for item specifics.)
Un-du is highly flammable, and harmful if ingested or if the fumes are inhaled.
Slick transition! I keep my home space fairly neat but there is always some stock on the side waiting to be listed. I was thrilled to see your store room is extensive but also “ordinary.” Yet again providing an example that I can relate to as well as aspire to.
Thank you for the tour
Ohhhh what a smooth transition! 1:12 Keep up the great work. 🎉
For the person who asked about removing tape (or stickers), lighter fluid is your friend. It will temporarily neutralize the adhesive. You can also use it through cardboard boxes in most cases. It is also thin and will wick under most tape at the edges.
Or you actually put enough on the card board to wet it and let the lighter fluid transfer through the box. It doesn't work on all types of cardboard, as some modern inks are basically melted plastic, so the printing on the box will actually stop the fluid from reaching the tape (or the box could have a sticker on it instead of printing).
But a good example and way for you to practice is with Hot Wheels cars. Wet the back of the Hot Wheels card with lighter fluid. It will soak through and neutralize the glue that holds the bubble on. One wetted wnough, the bubble will come right off, without damaging the card. And when the fluid dries, you won't even be able to tell it was ever applied.
Then the glue on the bubble will get sticky again as the fluid dries, and you can even reattach it to the card before it completely dries.
Same concept on tape. Of course, a bottle of lighter fluid is like $10, so if its a big box or a lot of tape, you may need a whole bottle. So make sure the money you gain is worth the time and cost!
Yes, dog hair everywhere! I rescue dogs and have 5 of my own, and currently, 2 rescues that will be placed with a new family. Strangely, I am currently in the middle of cleaning up some dog hair that has been hiding. I love my babies and enjoy them, I hate the shedding. So glad to hear you're a dog guy.
I always grab free newspapers whenever possible, to use as void fill. I also use supermarket plastic bags.
As a customer, I would recycle the paper but the plastic is a detractor. Not as easy to recycle visually unappealing tbh.
@misteress8008 But I am recycling the plastic bags, by using them as a packing material. That's better than putting them in a recycling bin, where most end up in a landfill.
Wow you have such a nice area for your videos, movie watching and inventory. That's awesome.
The tour was cool thanks for sharing your space :)
Maybe you have mentioned this before, do you include a packing list with orders? Didn’t you build the basement for your dog too.? I look forward to EVERY VIDEO.
@19:33 I would add check the shipping specs. I have found a few items that for some reason had a typo. Probably my fault, but I’m sure in not alone, I’ve had multiple times I found an extra digit in the box dimensions or a in the weight. And soon as I fixed it it would sell. 🎉
Thanks, Justin, for answering my question! Yes, it seems the consensus from the community was "Get rid of those photos!" I know of one well-established and successful reseller who had experienced eBay losing most of his photos for thousands of listings. I guess that made me extra cautious. 👍
I had one lady tell me she threw my package out because it wreaked of cigarette smoke. I told her I was sorry she had to throw the package out but I do not smoke and I have never smoked. I did not refund her.
That is one thing Australia does not have, basements! Very jealous of that space!
I hold on to my photos because a lot of my items have to be authenticated so sometimes I need to reference them if I see an item online and I need to double check. Also sometimes peoples listings dont show or mention model #s but if I have my photos of the same item I can check details to see if its something I've sold in the past. Its just my own archive of detailed photos to reference. Its helped me find a battery for a camera or see if shoes posted online are authentic.
I have never been so slow. I always sell great on eBay but I have not sold anything in 4 days and I list constantly. Yikes what’s going on. Thx for your honest videos I am learning a lot from you
If you have a print newspaper near you, you could check and see if they sell end rolls of paper. I get rolls with quite a bit of paper left on them for $2 each that i use for void fill. They even write me a receipt for my taxes.
Thank you for all the time, effort, and work you put into making these videos. I know it's extensive. To be honest, my very first sales this week have generated a sense of excitement within me. 😅 However, I must admit that I am slightly apprehensive about the process of packaging, shipping, and ensuring the proper presentation of the items when they reach the customers. While these sales may not be substantial enough to retire on, they will certainly contribute towards an overdue oil change for my vehicle. Hahha😂
Is there any kind of advice you can give when it comes to packaging? I am going to search your channel because I'm sure you've already covered it in plenty of your videos, so forgive me for asking.
Save your photos until your items sell!! There was a horrible glitch to thousands of sellers a few years ago where all the listings that auto-renewed during a certain time period lost their photos. eBay was never able to recover them, so myself and all other affected people had to retake hundreds of photos.
I sell lawn mower parts primarily. The way I list is I pull 5-10 parts, make a list of those parts, then take photos (on my phone) in the same order the parts are listed on my notebook. I’ll put the parts in bins and write down the location. Then I go inside to my recliner and get on my laptop. Then I go through my list and look up comps. Once that’s done I start the listing, click the upload photos from cell phone option. I use AI for the description. Doing my listing this way I can knock out all the hot garage time in 10-15 minutes, then do the rest inside later. I travel for work, so doing it this way allows me to list anytime anywhere. I noticed you have a Helotes, TX tag in your work area. I live about 30 minutes from Helotes in New Braunfels, TX. Cool seeing the tag. Did you visit Helotes?
I grew up in Helotes!
@@justinresells I live on the other side of San Antonio in New Braunfels.
I finally had a few negative feedbacks reach a year and my percentage went up but all the negative feedback remains. I was wondering if you had any idea why the negative feedback hasn’t dropped off it’s been over a week
How do you tell if an order is going internationally? I think I’m in the program but I can never tell if any of my sales are international
Hi Justin, another grateful flipwise user here. I love that it’s a big picture checks and balance to be compared against eBay. It has definitely helped me to step up to where I’m more comfortable (tax implications and such) in my eBay activities.
I hear many resellers say that it’s important to be active on eBay every day and I’d like to dive into that thought a little bit deeper to get your thoughts. Does that mean physically being in front of the computer in some capacity every day or do you find that scheduled listings accomplish the same thing? If you have five listings scheduled every day for 30 days is that as good as if you were sitting down and listing start to finish five listings every day? I tend to be a person who pushes to get to that level where I can coast more or less and I’m curious if it’s worth the effort of pushing to get 150 listings up (with the eventual goal of replenishing on a weekly basis).
Oh, keep your photos until your listing is done. I did a listing from my phone as a draft, to finish on my little chrome book, but I edited the main photo wrong and couldn't get the original back! Keep the photo on your phone until it's listed!
Thank you for your videos, I'm pretty new to reselling and I have learned a lot from you. Also, I love using Flipwise, makes life so much easier! Where did you get the shelves you use to store inventory? Trying to find good shelves that don't break the bank.
Good video Justin. Lots of good nuggets. Thank you.
Hey justin, thanks for answering my other questions and I got some more to shoot your way if you don’t mind. 1. How would you recommend getting sharpie/ink off of rubber or leather items like baseball gloves or shoes? 2. Would you consider grading a rare comic book or card if it had the chance of increasing the value of it? Also been loving Flipwise so far! Thanks 👍
I don’t know about leather but Mr Clean Magic Eraser is pretty good for removing marker from shoe soles. I cut them into small pieces, as I find them unusable after one cleaning. I’ve tried Dollar Tree dupe but the brand name product works better for me.
@@brendatomlinson I got a dollar tree right next to me i’ll give the off brand a shot. if not maybe i’ll try the magic eraser i believe ive heard justin talk about it before too. thanks
You mentioned setting your auto feedback to only leave it after the buyer leaves feedback for you. Do you still go back in and leave feedback for those buyers who do NOT leave you any feedback?
Thank you for your wonderful videos. They've been so helpful and I am consistently learning so much!
That would defeat the purpose of turning this feature on to begin with so I doubt it.
Thanks, as always! I have learned a ton of things from you!
I seem to get sales when I threaten the item that I'm going to donate it, lol
Justin! I always mark my eBay listings “ local pickup” its in the shipping section
Doing local pickups is fine... just don't try to arrange payment outside of eBay :)
Hey Justin, big fan of the videos. I've been selling for almost a year now and have stayed around the 250 limit for free listings. I have a lot of inventory not listed, since I'm selling off a large comic collection but I wanted to know if you have any insight as to when you think it's worth it to start paying the $0.30 listing fee/ starting paying to have a store. Also, I've seen online that it is better to list later on in the day, do you do that? Thanks!
This is where the magic happens 😅
Hi Justin, I notice that in the title for the Disneyland Top you used the abbreviation NWT to indicate new with tags. I’m sure I saw in a previous video that you advised again using abbreviations like that in listing titles and utilise the Item Specifics section for such info?
Returns on large heavy items really gets me upset, especially when its the Buyer's fault by not reading descriptions. I just had a return open on a big music amplifier. Hoping to beat it, but as you say, things are unfairly skewed towards Buyers.
Justin, I really enjoy all your videos and the information you provide! I'm curious how your final value fees are so low? I mainly sell collectibles and toys, which has the highest final value fee, but if I could find a way to save on fees, that would mean a little more money saved than spent. Any information would be greatly appreciated Thanks!
Thank you Justin for your informative videos. I have learned so much from you! Your videos make me feel more confident about reselling on eBay. I purchased a box of vintage Graff Co maptacks at an estate sale where it was obvious that someone served during WWII. The maptacks are marked "Property of Air Force, United States Army". Will selling these maptacks get me banned on eBay? I don't want to get in trouble when I'm just starting. Thanks in advance for your help with this question.
Love your channel. Just found it. I’ve been selling on eBay off and on for about 20 years. I used to go to estate sales, yard sales, etc…but I’ve recently become “homebound” because of an injury…and can no longer get out and about. Any recommendations on how to find inventory from home? I’ve done a few online auctions and had things shipped to me…but unless I get lucky, it definitely cuts WAY down on my earnings. Thanks!
Return Revenge........
Have you ever thought about revenge on a jerk teturn? Ive ofter sat there and almost bought something of theirs to do a return but never do it. Am I alone?
Justin - how often do you delist/relist or sell similar? Also, if eBay gives it a new number, how can Flipwise track it for an accurate "time to sell"? Thanks, Jan
Flipwise has logic to retain the connection between all listings for the same item, even if the listings have different item IDs.
@@justinresells I love Flipwise
Justin, love your content. My eBay app does not look like yours? I do not have a stored photos option. how do I get that? I even removed & reloaded the app on my phone. Can you help w/that question? Thanks
I have android and I don't have that option either. Couldn't find anything in the html website either.
Hi Justin. Thanks for another great insight video. You may have already answered this so please forgive me. I was wondering is there ever "too many" listings in one day that ebay does not like?
Thanks in advance.
Are you planning to add cross listing to Flipwise?? I love seeing the data you offer in your program but I need a cross listing capability.
I had crickets, decided to end all of my listings, slowly resisted them over a week and sales have picked right up again
How do you go about choosing a price for an item that you are unable to find ANY information on? Can't find it through Google lens, barcode lookup, terapeak, nothing. Thanks for your help!
Find your videos really informative, I've heard you mention a few times you find it easier just to have free returns on everything, how does that affect International sales? what happens if someone in say Australia just decides they don't like the item when it arrives?
Can you do a video on how listing fees work after the 250 free listings. I am reaching the 250 and not sure if I should get the starter store. Thanks for all the information you share with us!
You get 250 each month
Returning, Do you ever raise the price to sell the returned item, because now you've paid shipping twice and then eBay keeps out part of your money as well. I hate to make a new buyer pay more but what a loss of money because of the return. Luckily I have only had 4 but still the lost money is Annoying!
What is the difference between me relisting the item and the relist that automatically happens every 30 days on eBay? If there is one. Thank you.
Well after watching your vids and being a customer too for Flipwise...What do you think about sending a offer on a item that you allow offers on? KInda making you do the work twice for one sale??? Your thoughts? Thanks!
Thanks for your informative videos. When you put best offer on your items, do you put a minimum price? I sometimes get annoyed when people send me a ridiculously low offer on things so like to set a minimum. Thanks
Hey Justin, love the vids. I have a question and hope you can help. I have buyer who has ordered/request the item they bought from me on hold at their post office. It’s been 5days since they should’ve receive the item. I already contacted the buyer with no response. What now?
Int'l sales question. I had a buyer who wanted to return an item. I doubted their story but knowing I have to refund regardless and it's not worth the hassle, I told them full refund upon receipt of item. When I opened the Buyer wants to return your item message, there was a message from Ebay stating I did not have to do anything, no refund to send and no item will be returned. Fortunately, I don't get many returns and can't remember an Int'l return. My question is, is that standard or do they know something I don't?
Nice video 👍
In my experience, using paper when packaging an item to ship can up how much the package weighs by a significant amount. Anybody else?
eBay shows my email address on my listings (UK business seller) under 'Contact'. Don't know why.
What do you recommend a seller does if they haven’t tracked cost of goods for the year ? I have a couple hundred listings without cost of goods before I started to keep track this year. Just starting selling beginning of this year.
Did you ever use a smaller scale lighting setup for photos? I'm thinking I just want one small lamp, possibly one that sits on a desk, with a single bulb. Have you tested anything like that?
That's mostly what I use, unless it's a huge item. Bigger items I have to photo outside as I live in a camper haha.
I do about $2k per month on average, and only use one stand light that I move around as needed.
Might be hard for clothing though, That usually needs more space and good lighting. Without good lighting, on clothes, you'll likely get more returns.
@@gokou135 Any specific sort of bulb?
@@jfgibson73 I just use the white led bulbs, Warm doesn't work too well and gives an off color.

I had a buyer falsely claim the shirt I listed was the wrong size. It was listed correctly with all measurements. I called eBay to report it and they refunded me the shipping cost from the false claim. It only took about 10 minutes and saved me $9 on shipping cost.
How’d you get a contact phone number for eBay, I can’t find anything but an automated system
@@sullivan9191 good question. I don’t remember exactly. I’m pretty sure I just found a customer service number and called it. It started with an automated message but I was able to get on the line with a service rep fairly quickly
What's your thoughts on offering ebay discounted shipping for buyers? Also I have been killing it from estate sales 🎉
I talk about that in this video: ruclips.net/video/JprI-AxjzQM/видео.html
Gotcha, I never really considered flat-rate shipping prices. I might have to give it a try.
Kind of a silly question but I was at the thrift store the other day and bought a pair of pants for $6.99 plus tax. I got home and was listing them and found $8 in the pocket. How would you go about giving this item a cost of goods?
Hi. I hav😅Eva delegate. I sold a pair of shoes on eBay that the buyer wants to return. His excuse is damaged in shipping. He had them for a month before requesting a return. His pictures show scuffed up dirty shoes. I sent him clean non scuffed shoes. eBay made me send him a return label and are holding funds till returned and I refund. I contacted him and told him my complaint and he is arguing with me…. In Spanish! I wish I could send you his pictures to compare with mine. Anyway what can I do about this?
I’m so used to working w/o the app… the app is uncomfortable for me 😏. Not sure if that’s ok.
To have daily listings do you use the scheduling feature? Or just upload when you have them ready to post even if you won’t be listing in the next few days?

Hey Justin, I have a question about flipwise. If I start flipwise now with 1300+ items in my store, will I need to go in and put in my cost of each item? I'm guessing yes. I have books with this info in them, but it will be time-consuming.
Hi Sandy, neither eBay or Flipwise knows how much you paid for your inventory, so you would need to enter that in yourself. If you keep a spreadsheet, we can import those costs for you automatically though!
Your sales increased some because you got that haircut I talked about. It works.
What size boxes to you use to ship VCRs?
