This what happened to me. I was a single female at 18yrs of age and I was scared and desperate. I had no family in the country that I could stay with. The best bit of help I got was a church-affiliated charity where they gave some jeans because I had literally worn through all of my trousers in early spring and was freezing. Every homeless person knows to go to the church first to find help because they know more about local services than the council. I am not religious btw, but I got so much help from one member of my local church, I will be forever grateful.

So sad, how any family can turn their offspring out is unreal, but, it happens and they should be helped. Such young vulnerable adults too.

This hurt my heart. I remember all the times i slept on the street and as a woman there are so many things you need to worry about. Im lucky because i have a home now. I dont have much money but i will always help out when i see anybody on the street with either money or food and for woman feminine hygiene products e.g tampons ,pads and deodorant. Things like that help out more than ppl realise.

Anyone who is homeless is vulnerable, period! The British government needs to be sanctioned by the international community for human rights violations. You are not vulnerable! The next person who says that should be fired, reported or at the very least should have to look up the definition in the dictionary because they clearly do not have a good grasp of the English language!

These are people who did not undergo housing training and has no knowledge of the history of homelessness in Britain. Yet they placed them in a position to judge vulnerable people. When i watched these films, i am always shocked. Looking closely, it appears to be a planned decision by all local authority singing the same tune. Yet we hear of some housing officers scamming the boroughs by buying the homes and selling them. Claiming benefits for housing when they are in jobs. Its a dire situation. Someone has to account for this homelessness epidemic. I have decided that until these politicians get their acts together i am not voting for no one. I will stop my subscriptions and donations, because it is not helping the people.

Been there myself. Community came through for me in the end, not Gov. or council. In fact I would say it was Gov. decisions which caused it.
Affordable homes are being shunned here in wales when people take building them themselves. We need a strategy that looks at traditional homes, handbills by unskilled people. They don't need to be inefficient nor draining on services, if we are liberal enough to allow community grids for power, composting for toilets, keeping water out of Frack wells (!!) and encourage natural materials builds instead of considering only concrete and rock wool, with umpteen tonnes of imported Amazonian timber.
Where are the schemes encouraging this? One Planet development hardly has a mention in the upcoming Gov. elections. Natural farming, of fibres, new woodlands, even renewables energy at a domestic level, nothing.
Vote for change and a greener community, but this time not the greenwash of Tories, the real Greens, who have half a clue what it means. The most important thin to remember is if we work together, ay mistakes along the way can be adapted, unlike the rabbit hutch homes which have been built on flood plains across the UK, already unaffordable to most, and those that do secure them as a home (no thanks btw) - faced with a life time of locked in debt. Insanity.

I have worked at the YMCA as resettlement officer. I had never turned anyone away. I always give them room and provide training and support for them.
I had worked in four different housing sectors before, and i have never seen such reckless officers in my whole housing career. They are rude and careless and dont even care for the safety of the people. They have no love or compassion. But this universe always pay back. No condition is permanent. What goes round comes round. No one knows their future, so we have to be careful what we do in this world. I am so angry watching this video it is so sad that the government can say they cannot comment on individual case. That girl speaks for the thousands of homeless people. Thats when you know how stupid and reckless they are and ignorant. They will all reap their comeuppance one day.

it sux but government has no obligation to help you with living accommodation. the government is there to look after the safety(police/army/fire/ambulance). in return for this safety, you pay them a small fee in a way of taxes. it has no obligation to help you when you have no place to sleep. That said, it is more beneficial for a government to help people get back on their feet as this prevents unemployment and helps the economy.
i agree, it is shit how the council treats people in need, but at the same time, they have no obligation.

    @Finians_Mancave 6 лет назад +16

@ 1:00 she mentions she has family, but "can't even approach them about this situation" which led to months of being homeless... It didn't sound like she was fleeing abuse at home, so what was the reason she couldn't tell them? Since she didn't even give them the opportunity to turn her away, it sounds like a matter of pride on her part. She's not a substance abuser -- so unless the family was somehow abusive, it seems unlikely they'd turn their young daughter out on to the streets to be on her own. I wonder how many teens/young adults simply dismiss asking their family for help out of pride or stubbornness, mixed with a measure of naivete and misguided romanticism towards living on the streets.

Immigration, doing away with middle classes so there is now wealthy and poor. And very sadly accommodating people from other countries before looking after their own first.

Damn I hate these videos... If you want to raise awareness, cool. But think of people like us which are willing to respond and provide help/assistance. A website, phone number or address posted at the end of the video helps

I know it's hard, they are youngs, but let's being realistics, they do not do nothing about it, they just don´t care them selves and they are just expecting the help falling down from heaven, and therefore they are not being responsables of theme selfes, and that is the most sadness. They may get a job and pay their rent as every do, they are some places where is about 150 or 200 pounds, and I'm not talking about living in london, but maybe outsides, so they must bing responsables of their lives, if they don't do it, they are going to fail in any part of their lives, so basically they are living like that because they want it, they are get use to somebody resolve their problems, so they falldown in a comnfort Zone, also maybe they are sufering depression, drugadicts, lowestime, whetever. BUT THEY MUST FIGHT AND TAKE THE CONTROL OF THEIR LIVES. Don't let anybody tells you what you deserve and what you don't, you can have it whetever you want, it's more a mental attitude.

Vergil I have never seen or even heard of a place that is as cheap a/ £150 - £200 to rent. I think you're talking rubbish. The cheapest types of accommodation are shared accommodation like lodging, which varies in all prices but cheapest usually go for £100-£150 per week even in rural areas. When/if you're homeless, it's not as easy as just "getting a job". Where do you put your stuff? How do you wash properly with no money, or a place to wash? A lot of homelessness is caused by breakups, some of those people have jobs in the first place, but when they break up they could lose their job for reasons like having to move too far away, not earning enough money in that job to support themselves with bills and rent, food and clothes.
You sound delusional to think it's as easy and as simple as you say it is. It isn't.

If you're fostered, you can't go back to your carer home due to: 1) no space 2) no more finiancial help for the carer 3) bad or not close relationship or combination of this.

Teddy81 wrong. Muslims and Africans are stiff upper lips most of us have pride and work as a community to help each other. There are many homeless Muslims and Africans they prefer to sofa surf, sleep on the ground. Its their people in the council making the assessment and they know they wont give them house so why go to them. White people are considerate but ethnic people has the heart of stone and are people pleaser puppet for the council.

Bullshit. I’m a Muslim girl age 18 my brothers disowned me saying I spoke to my classmates n slept with him, dropped out my level 3 course due to being kicked out. So at that age I found a part time cleaning job £90pw found myself a box room which was a garden room for bike n tool storage room no heating or a bed better than street tho £50pw, £40 for phone top up, food, travel n I use to get my elderly mother chicken n bananas. Slept on the hard cold floor, survived on bread, and apple, a wk with cheap jam. I left after 8m found another room n signed on benefits for 6m I completed my level 3. At 25 worked 6 years full time, brought my hubby over from Dubai 16k supporting him n the application process. I went on 8 holidays, I broken my back at that bitches place Anita sumessur. I completed my 3yr degree, brought a car to go work n helped my homeless brother he took 12k. Now I got a 3 bedroom flat, 6yrs married, 6m preg n halfway through my Msc MashAllah. I use to work 36hrs in 2 days just to cover extra money! This whores lucky. In my situation no one helped me coz I’m Muslim n their racist n obviously getting a job was hard as I wore a hijab, I got myself where I am by the help of Allah n his blessings. I am 31 n I don’t believe in the nhs, uk laws, food banks, benefit n housing system they r aiding loser who r good for nothing. All this should be scraped ppl should work hard n pay for what they need, they shouldn’t be spoon fed! Ppl r lazy on drugs n have addiction they should kill themselves or work hard n become successful not freeload of tax payers money! These r retards. Young, homeless n poverty they don’t know the meaning. They leave home to fuk club n have underage pregnancy’s. Why did they leave home? I didn’t I got beaten up n thrown out n accused, they chose to leave to become independently then do so don’t rely on the government n tax payers money! Pathetic. This is a vicious non ending cycle they have kids n it continues when r they gna break out? Not with all this help why would they? I have ambition, dream, plans for my future not like these fukers born for the wrong reason they r like bloodsuckers sucking all the money from us hard working ppl our tax money. 🤷🏻‍♀️
