Sprewell was a great athlete, and a solid player in the NBA.
His explosiveness was unique. He deserves more respect & appreciation. Great player.
It really was, especially when he choked out his coach.
Spree was nice. One of my favorite players. His 2 hand dunks were ferocious. It’s to bad they broke up that golden state team. You had Hardaway at the point, Spree and 2 guard, Mullen small forward, CWeb at power/center and Gatlin the same. They had a young squad that could have competed for championships if they were allowed the time to develop together. It’s one of the great forgotten what if’s.
Completely agree, I loved that team!!!
I had hoped as a Knicks fan that Sprewell, LJ, Alan Houston, and Marcus Camby would help Patrick Ewing to get a championship at the end of his career; But that San Antonio Spurs team was too much for them in 1999.
They wasn't going to win nothing
@@theetruth8626 I did say compete for championships not win did I not??? lol
Yeah that team was loaded.
Averaged 18 points for his career. He was one of my favorite players also. When him and Alan Houston teamed up, I knew they would go far.
Damn he averaged 18?!?! That's pretty damn good for the era he played in
Don’t forget L J was The Leader of that team.
Mr 4 Point Play L J Aka Grandmama 👵🏿
@@kingdingaling2469I’ll never forget that shot against Indy! Brings back good memories
Allan Houston was a sniper. Dude had a smooth J. His mechanics were perfect. His form, release, lift off the floor, it was picture perfect.
Latrell Sprewell was one of my favorite players of the 90s! I grew up a Knicks fan and I still have Sprewell's and Allan Houston's jerseys!
Mine too. Spree and Camby with the Knicks is who I played on all the video games. My brother even bought me the dunking Sprewell figure.
@@17thNO I also had Patrick Ewing's jersey, but I have traveled so much, that I don't know I've left it!
Wow awesome..I wish I had their jerseys
He had the best two handed dunk in the history of the league.
I loved when spree came to my Knicks. He was one of the best slashers and finishers I ever saw.
Should have won in99
Absolutely. And one of the most underrated defenders. Hell of a player.
too bad he wasn't able to feed his family
My 3rd favorite ball player ever. He reminded me of myself, a slasher 🔥🔥🔥
They had a good team when Spree came to NY. Him and Allen Houston were two mean, long defenders and a older but still good Larry Johnson. Loved this team.
Those Sprewell converse gave me wicked heel burns in basketball camp.
Sprewell was one of my favorite players. Crazy 2 hand dunks, crazy speed, but mostly because he went crazy and CHOKED his coach that one time. Classic... 😂
It wasn't just a choke. He punched him too. Left the court. Came back and attacked again. One of my favorite basketball players.
Okay, what if people remembered you for the worst thing you've ever done?
my favorite highlight of him was when he made a basket sitting down
To be fair Carlisimo had it coming, the only thing that would've made better if it was George Karl.
@@17thNO No deserves to be choked-TWICE-by their player. If you choke your boss at work, you're going to jail.Spree should've been kicked out the nba.
I loved Spree. So well-rounded and had the ability to be the X-factor in a game. That Knicks team and run was such a fun time. I remember being on vacation with my friends in Montreal and watching some of that Finals in the hotel room before heading out.
It was fun to watch the Knicks with Sprewell
I am a diehard Jordan & Kobe fan, but Sprewell and Kemp are my favorites on nasty fast break dunks.
Spre was a Beast
Spree was my favorite player as i was getting introduced to the game of basketball immigrating to the USA as a kid. I arrived to Canada/USA in 1997 and by 1998 i was fully immersed with the nba, i remember watching spree when he joined the knicks and the way he played the game with such intensity, his slashing style, ferocious 2 hand dunks... the man was a beast. Brings back great childhood memories, God bless
This man comes from some of the nicest people and although I haven't met him, I'm friends with the family and down to getting fed by Mamma Sprewell and playing with his nephew on the daily. I have no doubt about the kind of person he is and as a Knicks fan i hope he gets his flowers!!!
Sprewell was one of tbose guys you want on your team in a park pickup game
Fearless player. One of the finest at NBA back in the day. Awesome speed and quick jumpers. If he plays today he'd easily sign above $150 million for five years!
It's a shame that Latrell Sprewell and Patrick Ewing didn't win championship rings with the New York Knicks during their playing days.
The duo of Latrell Sprewell and Allan Houston still makes an impression.
I agree with you. If I remember right I think that Patrick was the third leading scorer behind Houston and Sprewell?? If only Ewing played in those Finals?
Agreed. This was the year I became a Knicks fan. Spree and Knicks were a match made in heaven. He should have stayed there
Ewing was at the end of his career unfortunately and couldn't stay healthy..
@@taemac10 Oh, but only if he could have? He was still good for 15 points 9 rebounds and 2 blocks. Combine that with Houston and Sprewell.. better competition for the Spurs in the Finals.
Don’t forget LJ. * on that 99 spurs chip
I raced Latrell in Tuscaloosa. His Camaro beat my Beretta.
Fun fact. He was teammates with Robert Horry at Alabama.
Yep. He and Horry from Bama. Me being a big Bama fan loved that fact, because even though MJ was my favorite player, I loved watching and rooting for Horry and Spre as well as Antonio McDyess.. all Bama standouts.
Him and Monte Ellis were two of my favorite players for the Warriors.
Sprewell was a hell of a player, straight monster
Loving all the love for Spree.
One of my favorite players in the 90s. I remember my starting 5 for Live '99 was Marbury, Spree, Allan Houston, CWebb and Duncan. It was dope!
Life Long Knick fan here and Spree will always be my dude. He played his heart out for us. He almost got us over the hump too.
And let's not forget Sprewell either invented or put spinner rims on the map hard!
I remember him showing the first 1s on a benz he had.
He's definitely legendary on and off the court.
@The Esquire of Sports ®
I don't know wth u are talking about lol.
Are u talking about the spinning rims?
@@riofacts8283 I don't think he is 😆
He Invevted the spreewheels, that are now illegal
@@samuelsneed7753
That's the spinner rim
@@riofacts8283 yeah but I was talking about the company he started. NY older cousin had some , in like 99 or something. As fat as invented,(not my claim) I'll leave that for fellows with time for useless facts.
When he was sent to New York, that spark he ignited was bad ASS!!
Yeah sprewell was tough back in the day fast.💪🏽💯
My guy sprewell everyone knew which way he was goin and still couldn't stop it. Definitely one of my all time favorite players and definitely underrated.
Who can forget Sprewell`s Sledgehammer dunk? Had a big Poster of that Dunk of him. One of my childhood heroes
The Sprewell blue warriors jersey was my first ever jersey I owned 🔥🔥
Same here. Still have the jersey in my childhood closet
Latrell is one of the players who made me love hoops. His battles with Vince and Iverson were great
When the Timberwolves offered him 10 million and he said "I have a family to feed". Say what you want about him but that is absolutely hilarious 😂. I Never stop laughing at that. he is the true Goat for that quote alone.
Tax bracket.
I don’t know….. it is hard to beat Allen Iversions quote about….. “practice?”
It wasn't 10 million. They offered him 21 million for 3 years, and he felt lowballed. He made that infamous quote, and retired because nobody wanted to overpay for him
Just don't meet him in person,he might choke your &&& !!! LOL. This dude didn't play with a full deck.
He deserved a bigger contract, especially when bums he carried got bigger contracts it made sense he just worded it stupidly 😭🤣
Great video, what I remember watching the Warriors as a kid was Greg Papa's saying "SPREE for THREE!!!!" Man those were fun times watching those Warriors teams compete every night. We didn't get lot of wins but they sure were a exciting games to watch. 90's Warriors is why I fell in love with basketball. Thanks again for the great video, hope Spree gets his props' some day.
Sprewell remained a beast until he left the NBA. I took that choking incident in stride. I knew he was gonna bounce back. Glad it was with my New York Knicks.
When we were young , there was this Spreewell play - where it’s a inbounds under GSW’s basket, and Spreewell hits the corner 3 opposite side to the inbound for the win. We used to yell Spreewell !! Every time we got a inbounds under our own basket and as the ball flew we’d all yell Spreewell !! Again 🤣 we later added short Spree, for the short side 3 ball and still all yelled Spreewell as the ball flew 🤣
Yep. They called it "the Spree 3" 💯
Dude was a real deal hooper he had great all around skills !!!
He is on my ps5 knicks and one of my Idols thank you spree for your heart and giving everything you had to N.Y love you brother
Spree was a beast! One of my favorites! Thanks for this video!
Agreed. Spree was my favorite player back in the day
Original Westbrook. Spree is also one of my favorite players from the 90s/2000s. His Knicks run was legendary.
The Ja, Westbrook, d.rose prototype
Spree was TOUGH ! One of my favorites to watch growing up.
I watched him take over games on both sides of the court. He was a vicious competitor.. fearless.
When Jordan retired in 93' Sprewell became the starting shooting guard on my NBA live 95 created team along with penny hardaway at the point. Bald headed Spree was a beast.
Great video, thanks! Really one of my favorite players at the time... I loved as all of us his dunks as well as the ones of Kemp, Jordan and... Richard Dumars - I know a different level, but we saw so little of what he could do! It was great Spree got himself a second chance to shine at Knicks
Finally!!
He is one of the most underrated players in the 90's NBA. The favorite player of my teenage years, who was considered a dangerous opponent against all well-known and great players.
Both in defense and attack. Numbers tell a lot in the NBA of that time, which was built on much more serious defense. And Spree was amazing in this time.
He deserved an NBA championship ring too!
Thank you for the video and uploading, we need to show more treasures from the most beautiful years... Thank's
He played with a Raw swagger i have yet to see again, my fav player
I firmly believe no player ever has read passing lanes as well as Sprewell. I also think he's up there with Jordan, Sid Moncrief, Joe Dumars and Payton for defensive guards. He also had a great feel and instinct for the offensive game. Really, he had all the tools to be mentioned along side Kobe, DWade, Drexler. It was a joy watching him as a Warrior. Just a wonderful athlete, and when he was emotionally engaged in the game, he looked like the best player in the league.... it's just that he might give you a 2-9 fg before he reeled off a 17 point quarter while locking down your favorite guard.
His off ball defense was incredible. He was a great man defender too
you went too far lol.. he didn't have the tools that kobe had, he didn't win because he was missing the main tool, a mind for the game and working hard.
@The Esquire of Sports ® you are talking about a guy who choked his coach and yelled "suck my dick" right next to the commisioner.. the guy was a loon therefore missing the mental part which was Kobe's biggest weapon lol
Spree was a beast. Loved him.
Spree was my second best NBA player after Mike back in the gap. He ATTACKED the rim💯..... Hard💪🏿... He wasn't scared. Nobody punked him! His energy was through the roof...
Well deserved video for my man Latrell Sprewell, one of my favorite players to watch play and his dunks are one of the best there is.
Who remembers him with Antonio McDyess and Robert Horry at Alabama?
Man was one of my favorite players. Couldn’t be stop and was a non stop dawg
I loved Spree. he was my favorite player I ever watched. especially growing up as a Warriors fan starting in the late 80s. I was such a big fan of his I immediately became a Knicks fan when he went there. he was amazing in that Finals run, even though they were overmatched by the Spurs.
My uncle (RIP) was a regular fan of basketball but not avid or anything. Just watched it in passing UNLESS Sprewell was playing. He loved how hard Sprewell played.
Sprewell was a animal him and Tim Hardaway were one of the best backcourt combos in the 90's
Dude was ferocious!!
I played ball with spree in high school! I NEVER seen him start trouble with anyone and I was around him every day and during extremely hard times. But if they brought it to him, he would handle it!
Ok Purgolders!!
I remember him coming to Sherman school and talking to us!
PJ was looking for it really after mincing those words to him at practice.I don't condone his actions but man he's a coach he could have acted up professionally.🤦
Good video. Nice to hear something else about spree. Well, besides the choking incident that’s really all you heard back in the day. Seems like a good dude.
His two hands and tomahawks were crazy. One of the most explosive players to watch
Sprewell was my 2nd favorite player all time.
Loved Spree! One of my favorite players growing up! Loved those two handed vicious dunks! 💪🏽
First jersey I bought was Spree’s. Amazing athletic ability and so fun to watch!
Loved him with the Knicks breathtaking scoring machine/ and defensive monster!! Run any floor like he owned it!! Gave 1000 percent every game!!
What could have been in Golden State if Donnie and Chris could get along. Sprewell, Hardaway, Weber, and Mullin? As a kid I remember thinking that team was going to be a problem for the league. Little did I know it would all be gone in a couple years.
NBA Live 95, GSW was the team because they were all healthy in the game 😂
Man, what could have been…
@@DSteuber0352 Lol absolutely! I remember playing Live 95 quite a lot as a young man.
@@booksbricksandboards783NBA Hangtime on Super Nintendo, Sprewell and Mullins were a glitch. I grew up in Oakland in the 90s that Warriors team was exciting, even as a young kids we all knew more about Sprewell than Jordan
@@trinidad510 Sprewell ended up being the only one that could stop Sprewell from being more successful than he was. Bright guy with some really bad choices along the way. But, one of the most entertaining and talented guys in the mid 90's.
Golden state warriors were still a dysfunctional organization that would make ridiculous trades and look like clowns. Webb for Tom Gugliota?
Fans used to go Nuts yelling at Van Gundy for playing Spree n Marcus Camby off the bench.
The move however, provided a great 1 n 2 punch off the bench and was very EFFECTIVE for the the knicks....
Spree was playing crazy after getting a second chance coming from the GSW pj thing. Camby was great as a defender n rim runner....
Spree was a guy every fan would love because of his relentless HIGH ENERGY.
The dubs had the first fab five with CWebb, C.Mullin, Spree etc. If u ask CHRIS WEBB n Mullin who their favorite nba teamate would probably say Spree....
Favourite player of all time. Awesome video man. ✌️
So cool mal ein Video über Sprewell zu sehen!! Danke dafür!
La’Trell is one of my sons names. Yes, I was that serious🤷🏾♂️. 🏀💙. Shoutout to John Starks too! That jersey was cold. We went to the same elementary school. 918!
One of my favorite channels with all the best basketball content!
Luv spree man Milwaukee County reporting in WASHINGTON Generals!!!!
I just remember the contract negotiations he had with Minnesota- I think it was a 3 year $21M -where he said he had a family to feed. Never played again.
He is still my favorite player....till 2day
💪😊👍
One of my favourite players. Love the guy's energy and athleticism
His coach choking skills are legendary.
Used to love watching him and Allen Houston play, Houston to this day still has one of the prettiest jumpers
Great job…REALLY enjoyed the video, thank you. Liked and then subscribed for sure 💯
Interesting research; thanks for your time putting the video clips together about Mr. Sprewell. It is sad he went bankrupt, hope he put his intelligence for good use and he is ok now.
My favorite player and the reason why I became a lifelong Dubs fans. He was one of the best 2 way players for yrs. Steph has surpassed that for me since then but Spree was him!
The man had rims named after him. He's a legend for that alone.
Great episode man! Thanks for the clips I have never seen before! Great job!
Sprewell knick with Allan Houston were 🔥
Loved me some Spree. People forget. He was a beast.
One of my favorites.
Heavily underrated. Knicks would have won that year if they had a big man. That's all they were missing.
You have a great channel I always click soon as I see your videos keep doing your thing folks 💪🏿💯
Getting some good sponsors man! You deserve it. This has been a great channel for a long time!
I was a big fan. Sprewell was ferocious.
I remember this hype and potential he showed. Too bad after that Latrell Sprewell like set his position and chilled. Him and Grant Hill were young guns to blow as I remember but injuries/life and I still know it could be even more epic:) Thanks Shawn for another nice evening with my favourite 80ss/90s basketball. Have a nice day
My favorite player when I got into basketball. All ❤ had to love that and when he caught 🔥 it was over!
Hi to y’all from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 I met Spree in 1996 in the Netherlands. He was on Europe tour I guess and we as students had a chance to join a clinic. He was a GS Warrior back then, I (18 yo back then) never had heard of him but I do remember;
He was very tall (and bald headed), very kind person, I asked and get autographs on multiple posters and cards.
Few years later this thing with his coach was to happen, which I read from the European bball magazines (named XXL) and was like; “oh shit, this is that guy!”
And ever since he got traded to NYC, I had to find here in Netherlands his nr 8 jersey and shorts (which was expensive for a student like me, but I got it and still have them!)
He got a bad rep for strangling PJ but honestly can you blame him?
Larry Johnson in shape!
#15 on golden state was a problem
Great video! Spre was amazing/fun to watch. As for the choking incident....not going to condon--yet understand. Unfortunately forgive & forget is absent in the sports world.
His 1st step, euro step, and step back was lethal............... wow, LJ lost like 50 pounds
Damn. Loved the warriors back then. Sprewell, Hardaway, Webber, Mullin …loved to watch them
Whan a was 18,19 years i loved this man more than a mother and a father combine!
Anfernee "penny" Hardaway my fav childhood nba idol 🔥
Point Spree with the warriors spring 94 was fun basketball. Only season I watched the warriors but it made me a huge Spree fan.
He was who I tried to play like. I was a SLASHER.. That man is underrated. Probably will go in the Hall of Fame if not....idk WHY NOT?
His signature two hand dunk is the best.
