I hope you get to see this comment. A couple months ago I purchased a 10 pack of your AAFCO spinners and today I caught the first steelhead of my life on the Kalama from the bank using one of your included spinners. It was the one that was black torpedo body with the silver blade. 12-15 pound hatchery keeper that fought hard for what must have been at least 15 minutes. It was the most exciting and meaningful experience I have ever had fishing. Gosh I sure wish there was a way I could include a photo of this big hatchery hen. One of the photos my buddy took even shows your spinner still in its mouth. Thank you for what you do and keep making those AAFCO spinners as I want to buy more and they really do get down there in the strike zone better than blue fox or anything I can find at the local stores.
I always love hearing success stories with my spinners! I take pride in making them and it always makes my day to know people are catching fish with them. Congrats on the Steelhead! you can always send me pics by email at vstoneinc@gmail.com I'd love to see it. The 10 pack must have been the 1/2oz set? I’ve been wanting to fish all the jetties in Oregon so I’ve been exploring areas away from my norm
The tide very much matters, along with other factors. A good starting point is to pay attention to the tides and the swells. The bigger they are, the tougher fishing will be. And all jetties aren't the same, but i usually fish and hour before the tide change through an about an hour after the tide change. After that the water usually gets moving pretty good and that can make fishing tougher.
It carries over from salmon and steelhead fishing with a float setup, It makes it easier to see your line and i like knowing where my line is and what it's doing at all times if i can.
I was pretty stoked to feel a tug like that! I wish I hadn’t turned off my camera.. it was too big of a fish to flip so I had to get down to the water line... I ended up getting pretty soaked.. and that fish put up a GOOD fight.. luckily the season is just getting started.. should be pretty prime by the time you are back
I have fished there and the camera doesn't do justice to how treacherous that jetty is, or how far it really is out to the end. I decided to take a charter out of there one weekend instead of fishing the jetty, I thought I would be fine because I just got out of the Navy, so I didn't take the motion sickness pills they offered and I spent the trip barfing my guts up. I still caught some nice fish though. Hope to make it back someday.
This is a slightly lighter setup than I prefer but it depends on where I’m fishing, but this is 30lb braid to 25lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon.. my other rod setup is 50lb braid to 30lb leader.. same brand..
It depends on how you are fishing your bait.. most of the time when I’m jigging I don’t feel the strike, it’s just resistance on the line and fish on. But a lot of the time when I’m doing a slow jig with a little swimming action, it’s almost identical to the feel of a bass.. there have been so many times when I just felt a slight tick in my line or such a slight bend in the tip that I would have missed it had I not been looking at the tip.. so it’s not consistent but honestly I think all the large and smallmouth bass fishing I did primed me for rock fishing.. I do a lot of things the same way
Oh man, that's good to know. Thanks for the reply. I have been going out with 8lb test thinking it was like bass fishing. I got a new setup at bimart and will give this a try tomorrow. The ocean is a whole new ball game for me
haha i feel your pain, i just spent another 3 days down there and the fishing really sucked. in the 3 days i caught 2 Buffalo sculpin, 2 Cabezon, and a really small ling... and i fished all over the place! Wasn't really the best sea conditions to be fishing though, but nice weather... good times are on their way. Those smaller tides make a huge difference.
Haha I was thinking about that this last time I was out there. I may have to get back out there and bring some of my heavy squid spinners and see if I can find some fish.. hopefully I don’t let you down lol 😆
@@AnglingAddictsPNW no you have not let me down lol. I wish i could get out there. But there is just so much going on in life right now I can't seem to find time for anything. And with bear and turkey coming up too im in a mad rush to get stuff checked off the list!

does the tide matter when u go to the jetty?
The tide very much matters, along with other factors. A good starting point is to pay attention to the tides and the swells. The bigger they are, the tougher fishing will be. And all jetties aren't the same, but i usually fish and hour before the tide change through an about an hour after the tide change. After that the water usually gets moving pretty good and that can make fishing tougher.
what makes you prefer yellow for your braid? cheers
It carries over from salmon and steelhead fishing with a float setup, It makes it easier to see your line and i like knowing where my line is and what it's doing at all times if i can.
Big-ass Blackie!! That 'one more cast' paid off! I'm needing to get back home so I can fish... still out of state for the next few weeks. Aaaaaargh!!!
The other day I did about 400 "one more casts".
😮👍😃
What lb test and line do you use for your leaders!
Also is the feel of the line and tip similar to a bass? Or do you wait till you feel the drag rolling?
The ocean is a whole new ball game for me
I just love how easy I make it look lol spent 3 days there not even a bite
haha i feel your pain, i just spent another 3 days down there and the fishing really sucked. in the 3 days i caught 2 Buffalo sculpin, 2 Cabezon, and a really small ling... and i fished all over the place! Wasn't really the best sea conditions to be fishing though, but nice weather... good times are on their way. Those smaller tides make a huge difference.
Watch out for those things that look like cabezon. They’re called Buffalo sculpin and the spines are supposed to be poisonous.
Wya bro missing your content...
Just got one out and have another ready to be released in a few days from now!! Sorry to be AWOL for a bit
@@AnglingAddictsPNW sweet I'm on it. No apologies needed just making sure your still making us smile. Appreciate you bruh
I appreciate the support...
Get out there this weekend and smash some springers! I wont be able to so i have to live it through someone haha 😂.
Pflueger action. Perhaps the dankest action there is...next to 80s aerobics.
