  • I created this video to help others understand how the drag coefficient can be found without a wind tunnel and using a program like excel to help match modeled data to real data to find the correct drag coefficient (Cd).
Cd is usually found by rearranging the drag force equation and just solving quickly for the Cd. Drag force is found by hundreds of wind tunnel tests, but what if you dont have a wind tunnel? its very difficult to find a value for Cd without knowing the drag force, but it can be done.

FYI, when i say R squared is not really important... please ignore tha haha. R squared is how accurate your data is.. 0.99 means 99%

Hello, we are a team that operates Formula Student team in Korea. When we conduct the aero dynamics test, we conduct the experiment with only the aero parts without the actual car test. However, this time, we want to verify by logging the actual driving situation. The contents of the accelerator sheet are interesting, so could you allow us to receive the sheet and modify it? I want to develop it further.

Thanks. Curious how this would change IRL with wind included. I assume this vid is a 0 wind day. Let's say the wind is parallel, reduce or increase Fdrag or Dragx (N) by...? Do we simply include Vwind to the Fd...CdApV^2Vwind? Vwind could be + or -? Of course the results are real life so additional wind is included in your process, just not noted. But I was seeking the correct Fd that includes Vwind...

sorry for very late reply. the wind was close to 0 this day. However, if there is a wind, i would do 4 trials with a tail wind and a head wind, just to see how much it effects coasting velocity. If it doesnt really effect it, then i not adding it would be ok.

Hi sir i am a student in sakarya university (mechanical engineering) in turkey and we should find Cd of a 1/20 scale down truck model for our last year graduation project and we really need help. How can we find Cd with wind tunnel or ansys. First we are gonna find Cd with wind tunnel than with ansys
