WOW!!! This song takes me back 35 yrs. My Friend Camille loved this song. He passed away in 2002 at the age of 41, way to young. Thanks for posting. For a moment it was 1984 and I was young and happy.
Unfortunately the girl singing lead on this project went on to be a background vocalist for Luther Vandross and also had a hit album out of her own, her name is Lisa Fisher, awesome song and singer.
Here's what's so funny about this piece of greatness, the producers were trying to give everyone a hit song but the only one available to dedicate their time to an album was SHANNON. Jellybean, who went on to do projects such as Madonna, was quite frustrated at the lack of dedication at the time and along came James M'Tume and the rest is history
Thank you been looking for this song for decades I heard it today on satellite and finally found out the name of the artist(Xena)for years my friend tried to tell me this was Shannon and would argue me down but he could never find the song on any of her albums. One reason I couldn't find the song is because I thought the name of the cut was On the Other Side...lmbo.
Wow this is one to be remembered, thanks for the info orlando. I do believe she went on to win a grammy for How Can I Ease the Pain, but for me this will always be her best work, back in the day played this over and over.
Lmao. You too funny. Lisa Fisher used to go by the name Xena back in the day. She was tryna break into music through the Dance Music genre. Then she went on to do session work (which is great pay btw) and background vocals for Luther Vandross. Then Luther talked her into doing her solo album which did well but she said in an interview she hated the "Artist" side of the industry so she's back doing session work, background work and occasional performances with the stones. Hope this answers a lil bit of your curiosity. Have a dope Memorial weekend.
When this song came out,the radio station guy said it was xena ,and we might know her as shannon So yes it is shannon,,but y she use 2 names no one knows I thought it strange,,they showed her sing it on tv or had video but,its shannon
