I enjoyed your reaction, my friend though, in England, which boasts the world#s greatest football league which is The Premier League, the difference each year between being in the Top 2 Divisions is not $40,000,000 but $240,000,000 and there is also another domestic English Cup each season called The League Cup which is also played midweek so the very best 7 or 8 teams could be involved in the later stages of 4 competitions so, occasionally, rest their players. In England, there are 4 Divisions in the League involving 92 independent Clubs/Teams and 11 divisions altogether in the Football League Pyramid. THere are over 7,000 teams in The Country :)

Cup upsets are what lower division teams and fans live for. The best in my lifetime is Lincoln City in 16/17. They were a team in the 5th tier and reached the quarter finals, in doing so knocked out 1 premier league team, 2 championship (2nd tier) teams, 1 team in League 1 (3rd tier), 1 in their league and 1 in the league below. And to make it better they won their league and are considered one of that leagues greatest ever teams.

It can spark top mangers to be sacked, the giant killers get more money as the have progressed and the fans have something over the giant they killed off, massive pride.

It's probably been mentioned further down...but anyway. The Bundesliga, which you showed is not correct regarding the promotion and relegation. The bottom TWO teams in the Bundesliga automatically get relegated to the 2nd division and exchange places with the top TWO teams in the 2nd division. The 3rd from bottom plays 2 games (home and away) against the third from the top which decides which team will be promoted or relegated. (or that no changing occurs).

-Yes you're right, the Women's USA football (soccer) team is actually one of the best in the world, I think they are also the current Women's World Cup champions (2019 Women's World Cup)👍
-I think the USA's sports interests are quite isolated to the USA (with maybe the exception of Cuba and Japan, and of course general athletics such as the olympics) so there isn't as much opportunity for international competition and fan travel. The country itself is so large I imagine it would be difficult for even a domestic style of fans constantly travelling to different states every other weekend. I know that probably does happen in the US, but I imagine it might be more difficult.
    - 5:23 That was cursed and I never want to see it again.
-Brazil have won the world cup the most times with 5, and with what you said about Spain and England, at least here in England, we've the biggest and best football league in the world, yet we always seem to choke at the final hurdle during international competition. It's a pain that all english people feel with football eventually lmao 😂. Even the whole concept and lyrics of 'Its Coming Home' is ironic and describes that
-And like your pinned comment states, the best players can easily make over half a million dollars a week with their club contracts, and that's >before< any kind of sponsorships of brand deals they'll be offered.

    • @californianreacts

The USA Women's football team is our only hope here, at least for a good while to come. It's strange to have Woman's great, and the Men slacking hard in the world, and visa-versa in sports in general.
We are definitely in our own North American bubble here when it comes to sports, and almost everything else. Especially coming from California, every place around the world other than Canada and Mexico seem like they are worlds away.
5:23 haha, I had to throw it in there! I specifically went back to my video and re-edited in this clip, just for you!
The money is insanity, but the players do bring in much more than that... that might be a good video now that I think of it... hmm....

I mean, if countries like the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, etc. spend about half of the money per capita the US does it's basically going to be over for the US.
Certified trainers and such is still something the US lacks at all points.
Messi has a good argument for being the best football player of all time.
He's 5 feet 5 and had growth problems resulting in a lack of growth and stamina. (Barcelona paid for his treatment as a teenager)
Many of the best players don't break 150 pounds.
I promise you a smaller framed player in the US won't be looked at twice and as long as that's the case the US will struggle on an even playing field when it comes to development of players.
In the US bigger is simply seen as better for the most part because of the other dominant sports.

What you have to take into account is soccer teams are sporting clubs through out the world, many started way back in the 1870s to represent a community like a city or town, some were formed by workers from coal mines or even pubs in England to give workers on their day off a break from work as really a social club and get some exercise.
American sports teams are franchises owned by often an individual that can relocate the team to a different city or state if they are not making the money so they have no real connection with any certain place, it really is a business not a sporting club.
If you look at the badges of soccer teams they will have an FC or SC, football club or sporting club or the non English equivalent of.

According to FIFA, these are the top 10 national teams of 2021 (after the results of EUROs and Copa America):
    10. Germany
    9. Portugal
    8. Denmark
    7. Spain
    6. Brazil
    5. Belgium
    4. France
    3. Argentina
    2. England
    1. Italy
I see you mentioned Italy's world cup win in 2006, it would be nice to react to the road to victory of Italy in that world cup, or even better, the fall and redemption of italian football.
After that world cup, italy began a fall of quality, that culminated in the missed qualification in 2018 world cup.
After that, Italy managed to resurrect with a completely renewed team, and only 3 years after not even competing in the world cup, we won the EUROs for the first time since 1968, beating giants like Belgium, Spain and England

At least you try to learn when you see what is all about the REAL FOOTBALL.. thx to youtube. And btw.. you have FANS in your sport in USA and we have Suporters. tottaly two different things. and that is best explained to you like this.. USA: sports = Entertaiment..., The rest of the world sports = Tradition. You will never understand this living in a bubble over there.. even if you try..it is something that you feel and cannot be learned. IF you can;t feel it.. you will never understand it. The Jules Rimet Trophy 🏆 is the name of the World Cup and it was embarrassingly stolen in 1966 a few months before the tournament was held in England. Luckily it was found by Pickles, a border Collie dog, whilst out on a walk with his owner. I believe it was found under a hedge, wrapped up in newspaper and tied with string. Unfortunately the dog owner became a suspect for a while after he handed it into the Police! Seems a bit like a plot from a British “Carry on” film, but it is true. ( “Carry on” films were British comedy films mainly made in the 60s and 70s)
What he said about not having play offs is not strictly correct. In some of the English Leagues it is only the first two teams who get automatically promoted, and the next four top teams have play off matches, to determine the last promotional spot available.

Well there is also the consistancy factor, reaching a final is already a challenge ,
Brazil germany italy argentina france all reached the final several times wining the cup and 2nd place. plus beeing semifinalist.
There is also the Netherlands, wildly known as the best team that never won a world cup reaching the final 3 times and semifinal 2x losing on penalties .
Seeing the top teams is a bit of book keeping on how consistant a nation is at tournaments,
The European cup , or European championships well they are even more dificult to win. since its inception in 1960 only 10 different nations won the cup and 13 diferent nations reached the final .

Because those top 4 will be picked for champion league. So even when a team knows he can't win the league they will fight for the 4th place. And the 5th and 6th will be picked for europ league, which is another Cup tournament.

The video is decent but the one thing he forgot to explain before going into clubs and national teams.
Soccer clubs are comparable to American sports franchizes like the Avalanche or Red Wings in the NHL and they will play where the club is located. Bayern Munich plays in the German league, Barcelona plays in the Spanish league, Mancchester in England and so on, but the players from each club can have all kinds of different nationalities.
Players mostly play for their clubs, but if they are really good and belong to the best players from their country, they may be called to their National Team and play in international tournaments like the world cup, where the best players from each country compete with each other. In hockey this would be like team Canada or team USA.

What American sport needs is not so much innovation regarding the sport themselves, but the format. The franchise model doesn’t allow anything on a grassroots level. It’s a closed circle and by extension you just don’t get the same connection. If rich people get into football (soccer for you), they take a risk.. but it’s not really seen as an avenue to make huge money, it’s more of a passion and money sink in order to win, if they then creates a revenue that’s usually considered a byproduct. Nevertheless, they’re gonna get huge publicity regardless of direct losses, so they’re probably gonna earn it back regardless, at some point… whereas in American sport.. the owners are all in it together to earn money, and that closed environment creates a barrier.. but if that’s all you’re used to, you don’t really know what you’re missing, except if you go to Europe and watch football in the stadium or watch RUclips clips and then traverse down the rapid hole. For many, sport as pretty much replaced religion; you go there every Sunday (or Saturday), you’ve a huge community, you’re devoted, you chant, you’re there through thick and thin despite what’s going on at home, there’s many parallels that can be drawn.

Thanks, mick! I'm starting my journey into really learning the leagues and spot much more. Have some basics down, and dabbled in a few World Cup games but that's all, so far.

Novak Djokovic is an absolute beast when it comes to tennis! I've always enjoyed the style and grace of Federer and the aggression of Nadal. Waiting for up and coming dominant players but it's been over 10 years and no one new seems to have popped into the tennis scene.

Thanks for the suggestion K Sta! Saved to react to. Being neutral as of now for "soccer" and sports in general, I'll try to give a truthful reaction to it for myself, and my fellow Americans and where they generally stand on these things.

British football has a slightly more tribal, prumal feel to it, than European football.
Violence between rivals was common place. It's much less frequent now, but in the lower leagues, it's still pretty prevalent.
This shows in chants and the atmosphere at some games.
You can feel the anger and coming violence in the air which is very enticing to a primitive part of our brains.
