Great video. I am looking for places to ski out west next year. So far I have I have been to Park City, Deer Valley, Copper, Vail, and Snow Summit. I am looking into Telluride, Steamboat, Beaver Creek, and Aspen. Looking for a great resort with small queues as you would say. You have another subscriber.
Always hard to beat your first but for me, BMNK 2 delivers & then some. Comprehensive travel review with a cliffhanger conclusion, returning greats of the slopes (Huge Mike Millar Fan) & the drama of the speed competition, that in the current climate with a lack of sport, had me gripped as two giants collided but the core faithful always knew there would be one winner. 9/10 (nothing is perfect)
@@RobbieKnox yep, someone starts and then the next person thinks "that's a good idea." It escalates, bras and underwear eventually make their way down. Can't imagine it would be a fun ski trip without a bra, but who am I to judge. 😂
Absolutely superb Robbie, brilliant editing and the video was amazing throughout! I can’t usually watch RUclips videos all the way through as most creators are unlikable or boring, but this was great, well done Robbie! x
We did Aspen years ago, lived up to the hype. Free bus to the different mountains and ski storage and transportation to different places. Great if you have kids. Joke of the week was "where is everyone - back home in europe queuing"
I skied all over Europe for 15 years and all over America for the last 35 years. The best run is the one one you are on of course, but what makes American skiing great is the high percentage of powder and lack of lift lines. Our local resort Bridger Bowl has has everything and a lot more that I can no longer handle at my age. Here is one video from a few years back . Not one of me I might add.
I live right next to Telluride. It's an incredible mountain. Pricey, but you get a lot for your money. My brother taught there for a bit, so I got some discount passes so that was awesome. If you ever get back in the area, go around the mountains to Ouray, grab some beer and chocolate!
You should go to Mt Buller in Australia, trust me I know the snow can be not so good in Australia but if you pick a good day towards the end of the season there are many amazing runs! Also the nightlife is great!
Robbie Knox well I have done 1 days skiing at Mt Buller many yrs ago, it was decent..sure the runs are a lot shorter..but for a snow fix..it was a great day.. it is snowing right now in the Australian hills.. maybe Lydia can send in a photo of a big day there soon..
I was the 3rd person on the lift on opening day. I threw the first back flip on that mountain at the age of 15 1973. Born and raised in the San Juan Mountains and love Telluride. Bluegrass festival and especially the chair 6.
I published a ski magazine for 10 years and skied pretty much every ski area in North America. All the major resorts are overcrowded, overpriced, and full of people trying to impress each other. My favorite ski area? Big Powderhorn a few miles from the Lake Superior shore on Michigan's remote Upper Peninsula. More than 200 inches of real powder snow most years, some runs left ungroomed even days after a dump, short or no life lines even on weekends and holidays, a season pass for under $400, lodging and restaurant prices way lower than out west or in New England, friendly people. A family can spend a week at Big Powderhorn at a total cost of about 25 percent of skiing out West.
That sounds incredible Joseph, I'm going to look it up now. A lot of American resorts are so expensive to visit from the UK, as lift tickets for a week are often twice the price of European resorts. Thanks so much for the tip, will hopefully have a video from there in the coming years!
I grew up skiing Powderhorn, Blackjack and Indianhead. While nice especially by Midwest standards and if you’re a kid learning and advancing its not in the same ball park as CO ski resorts. Not close. The runs are very intermediate, flat and relatively short. There’s only a few hundred yards here and there of steep expert terrain. None at Powderhorn. The views are mundane compared to the spectacular Rockies. The slopes aren’t beautiful - all are lined with spindly 3rd grade small hardwood trees due to rape and pillage logging operations historically. Why these resorts didn’t start replanting conifers (white pine, white spruce...) in the 1960’s - 2000 I’ll never know. They’d look so good by now and give all the resorts a much more beautiful appearance. There’s virtually no decent bars or restaurants - all tacky “north woods” typical bars and grease food. Hey I loved them as a teenager on a very limited budget. But today at my age - bleh. I’m far too good of a skier for the UP to hold my interest for more than 3 runs. Give me Winter Park, Vail, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, Arapahoe, Steamboat... slopes, snow conditions, ambiance every day of the week. For intermediate skiers who want nice skiing on a tight budget the UP is very nice.
@@mrsmartypants_1 The biggest reason is the ancient lift systems in most American resorts (I'm sure some are modern), but European lifts are generally more modern, quicker and better prepared to deal with harsher weather for example heated 4,6 and 8 man chairs with wind cowls. US resorts shut down at even the slightest breeze. The other difference is that not that many American resorts are actually resorts, they're just a mountain with a car park at the bottom. There is literally nothing else to do in many of them. (I'm aware there elare exceptions before you mention Vail, Park City etc) Lift passes are laughably over priced. I can ride for a week in Europe in a resort bigger than anything in North America for the cost of a day and a half ticket in USA. Mountain restaurants are terrible and over priced instead of the 5 euro a beer standard you get over here. There is also rarely any atmosphere or decent Apres Ski and the only way you can get to these resorts is to drive. I'm not saying they are bad places to go for a day, but in general they are so far behind its laughable. I understand the market is different in America and because you get such terrible holiday entitlement you go to these places for a couple of days in general rather than a week or two, but from my point of view they lookoke Europe in the 1980's
@@RobbieKnox if you want small and old school hit Wolf Creek on a weekday, Silverton is a must if you want European style skiing (or the closest we can get in the lower 48) and Crested Butte is the only ski area in Colorado with off-piste like T-ride in my opinion.
Only just found this Telluride vid, so apols for late comment (was led here by Robbie's more recent vids, eg 3 Vallées - btw, you should have done Jerusalem off the top of the Les Saluires lift out of Meribel (one of the finest runs in Europe), then continued on into St.-Martin-de-Belleville (great spot for lunch or afternoon stop - off the top of St.M.-de-B. lift you have an easy scoot into Les Menuires, eventually via the green Allouette straight into downtown central Les M.). Anyway, back to Telluride ... skied there several times and it's without doubt my favourite Front Range place (though A. Basin has great merit) - done the Vail/Beaver Creek (saw Glen Campbell gig there), Aspen, Breck, Keystone, Copper, Steamboat thing, as well as Deer Valley, Park City, Snowbird/Alta, Brighton/Solitude Upr. & Lwr. Cottonwood Canyon, etc. etc. thing, (uuuew, get me 😁😁) (and apologies to many others too numerous to mention) but Telluride remains firm favourite. No mention of Spiral Staircase but good to see The Plunge getting an honourable mention (& did you not put your fingers into the bullet holes of the old bank counter from the Cassidy & Sundance raid that's now the New Sheridan Hotel (not much "New" about the structure, though internal facilities are more than adequate)? By the way, throughly enjoy your videos - they are so realistic, so unpretentious; and best of all, not shouty, attention-seeking, exaggerated, over-egged, sensationalist visuals & audio - your ski trips are very much in the same mode as we like to do our ski trips, either in Europe or N. America; in fact, you've planted the idea to do E. Europe more often with your Slovakia + Zakopane vid - Kranska Gora now definitely on the agenda (flts to/from Llubijana or Klagenfurt prob). Like yourself, I have suffered with mental health issues, so I feel a definite empathy for your observations and perspectives; like you, I have a wonderful set of friends - my friends have been an inspiration to get me back on my feet (and my skis) after my health crumples; your friends do seem very real to me, and I would love to ski with you and them one day. Best Wishes & Warmest Greetings from Austria.
Thanks Eric for this awesome comment. Vail, Aspen and Breck are the three mountains I most want to ski in America, so I'm very envious of you. I'm going to ski Mayrhofen in April so you'll get some Austria content soon!
Robbie Knox I stayed in the killington grand at the base of the slopes, there isn’t a full village as such unfortunately but the hotel is ski in ski out, then we drove to nearby villages for dinner and so on
The best ski resort is the one you live close to, is inexpensive enough to use frequently. A bit like surfing. If you can surf every morning on small to medium waves vs. perfect waves only 2 times a year, what would you choose?
@@RobbieKnox Rob, I think I have a plan, tell me what you think. I would love to see you do a video from Mt. Tremblant Quebec. It has a village at the base and an indoor water park as well. I am planning to make the trip myself from NYC. I think would be cool to experience a north american ski area with a distinctly French feel and reminisant of a european ski town.

If you like skiing straight into town, you should try out Selva val Gardena in the Dolomites. You can ski in the town there and are also well connected to one of the best ski round tours.
Great video. You should look into skiing Breckinridge! The gondola basically runs from main street and it’s a great spirited town. The Epic Pass includes unlimited skiing at Breck, Vail, three Tahoe resorts, a week at Telluride, and a ton of other top resorts around North America, Europe, and a few in Australia and Japan. There’s also the Ikon pass with some amazing resorts included like Tremblant and Jackson Hole - but Telluride is what makes me want to go for the Epic pass this year!
I am from Austria and love skiing in the alps. However I have to admit that Telluride seems to be an awesome ski resort! So many nice trails, hardly people (although I guess this was also because of COVID-19) and what a view! Thank you for this video!
Sierra Nevada in Spain is a great little resort close to home. Not huge so 3 or 4 days is enough but has some great bars and restaurants at the bottom. Also a lot cheaper than your resorts in France and Italy!
Robbie Knox the apres was pretty good, there was a few really good bars that we found and a lot of restaurants too, only problem is that everything was very expensive

Having to be stuck inside for ever, I really enjoyed your tour of Telluride. I’ve skied most places in the U.S., but never there. It’s looks impressive. You and your group may want to try the Park City, Utah area sometime. It’s only a half hour from the Salt Lake City International Airport and it would take you at least a month to all the resorts in the area. Major powder skiing. Also, I think “Shagnasty” means the same thing here as it does in the UK. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Aw, thanks Susan. Yeah, we're stuck inside here too. I'd love to do Park City, it's definitely on the list. Does it have a village base or do you have to drive to it?
@@RobbieKnox Park City is the largest ski resort in the U.S. It has 7300 acres, 348 trails, 41 lifts, 13 bowls and terrain parks. Park City is an old mining town like Telluride, but there is more to it. It includes the modern Canyons Village which is all connected. It has the 2002 Olympic Park where you can take a bobsled ride. Four minutes away is Deer Valley, the ultra luxury resort with 2000 more acres. January 28, 2021 is the Sundance Film Festival when Hollywood comes to Park City to ski. Also, within driving distance, are the ski resorts of Alta (my favorite), Snowbird, Solitude & Brighton. You’ll need more than a month.
I went up to telluride some time ago, I only saw double black diamonds on the gondola, but I guess there is a lot calmer runs through chairlift.
Yeah, a really good mix I thought. Happy new year!
9/10 is good - gives me something to aim for next year.
Ha ha!
Lovely Video Roberto. I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish
Thanks Jack. 👍🏻
a fews and Robbie Knox, Sunday evening done right. Cheers Robbie, hope you and the family are well!
They are! Thanks Alfie.
7:10 they have that at every mountain or at least in new england it’s everywhere would assume it’s the same in colorado
What is it? Just people throwing them up trees for fun?
i honestly don’t really know
@@RobbieKnox yep, someone starts and then the next person thinks "that's a good idea." It escalates, bras and underwear eventually make their way down. Can't imagine it would be a fun ski trip without a bra, but who am I to judge. 😂
Absolutely superb Robbie, brilliant editing and the video was amazing throughout! I can’t usually watch RUclips videos all the way through as most creators are unlikable or boring, but this was great, well done Robbie! x
Thanks Izzie, I'm glad to pass your test of non-boringness.
Robbie Knox Robbie Knox ahah no problem, all of your content passes that test, but I do have a particular soft spot for your bin day videos.
We did Aspen years ago, lived up to the hype. Free bus to the different mountains and ski storage and transportation to different places. Great if you have kids. Joke of the week was "where is everyone - back home in europe queuing"
Amazing, It's definitely on the list for the future. Would love to go there.
Amazing, you're so lucky to live near there. I'll definitely be back one day...
You should go to Mt Buller in Australia, trust me I know the snow can be not so good in Australia but if you pick a good day towards the end of the season there are many amazing runs! Also the nightlife is great!
I’ll send my Australian correspondent Mr Aussie Chris to investigate!
If you go to the Mt Buller Website www.mtbuller.com.au/Winter/ you can see the live snow cams and have a look at the map.
Great video mate. Ski holidays are the best holiday by a long stretch
Yeah, they’re so amazing. I can’t wait to become a professional ski resort reviewer.
I was the 3rd person on the lift on opening day. I threw the first back flip on that mountain at the age of 15 1973. Born and raised in the San Juan Mountains and love Telluride. Bluegrass festival and especially the chair 6.
You're so lucky to have grown up there Ed, it's an amazing place.
American resorts are about 30 years behind Europe.
@@sandersson2813 How so lol?
@@mrsmartypants_1 The biggest reason is the ancient lift systems in most American resorts (I'm sure some are modern), but European lifts are generally more modern, quicker and better prepared to deal with harsher weather for example heated 4,6 and 8 man chairs with wind cowls. US resorts shut down at even the slightest breeze.
The other difference is that not that many American resorts are actually resorts, they're just a mountain with a car park at the bottom. There is literally nothing else to do in many of them. (I'm aware there elare exceptions before you mention Vail, Park City etc)
Lift passes are laughably over priced.
Amazing video Robbie, never been skiing but looks incredible!
It really is!
I go to telluride every year and always love it. It’s my favorite ski resort out of the 3 I ski regularly.
What are the other 2?
@@ivanmeraz1358 park city and deer valley
I live here and you made me want to move here...... love SW COLO!!!
Ha ha. Amazing Ian. You're very lucky to live there, it's a beautiful place. Any other resorts you'd recommend in the state?
& Lwr. Cottonwood Canyon, etc. etc. thing,
(uuuew, get me 😁😁)
(and apologies to many others too numerous to mention)
but Telluride remains firm favourite.
No mention of Spiral Staircase but good to see The Plunge getting an honourable mention
(& did you not put your fingers into the bullet holes of the old bank counter from the Cassidy & Sundance raid that's now the New Sheridan Hotel (not much "New" about the structure, though internal facilities are more than adequate)?
By the way, throughly enjoy your videos - they are so realistic, so unpretentious;
and best of all, not shouty, attention-seeking, exaggerated, over-egged, sensationalist visuals & audio
- your ski trips are very much in the same mode as we like to do our ski trips, either in Europe or N. America;
in fact, you've planted the idea to do E. Europe more often with your Slovakia + Zakopane vid - Kranska Gora now definitely on the agenda
(flts to/from Llubijana or Klagenfurt prob).
Like yourself, I have suffered with mental health issues, so I feel a definite empathy for your observations and perspectives;
like you, I have a wonderful set of friends - my friends have been an inspiration to get me back on my feet (and my skis) after my health crumples;
your friends do seem very real to me, and I would love to ski with you and them one day.
Easily the best video tour of a ski resort!! Cheers
Love the channel mate road to 80K!
Nearly there!
Just found your channel through your ski videos, and I have to say this is top-class stuff. Definitely the best ski videos I've seen on here
Aw, thanks BloodOrange! I’ll make more ski videos as soon as we can go outside again!
Great visuals and another class video! Maybe give Killington, Vermont a look if you’re thinking of heading back to North America again??
Nice. Do you know if it has a village at the bottom of the mountain? I don't want to have to drive to a resort every day.
Robbie Knox I stayed in the killington grand at the base of the slopes, there isn’t a full village as such unfortunately but the hotel is ski in ski out, then we drove to nearby villages for dinner and so on
No Eastern US ski resort is worthy of an international flight.
So glad I've got notifications on! After having such a shit day it's nice to be able to watch a brand new Robbie Knox video :)
Hooray! Sorry you had a bad day Boris but hope the video took your mind off it.
The best ski resort is the one you live close to, is inexpensive enough to use frequently. A bit like surfing. If you can surf every morning on small to medium waves vs. perfect waves only 2 times a year, what would you choose?
Sadly I live in England so the only ski slopes nearby are dry ski slopes.
@@RobbieKnox Rob, I think I have a plan, tell me what you think. I'm waiving my life coach consulting fee. 1)Move to Perth, Scotland, 2)Summer golf instructor at St. Andrews, 3) Winter ski instructor at Glenshee. Bonus)Between golf and ski season, Scots Sasquatch and Nessie hunter tour guide. Yes?! Jewel of a plan I tell ya.
I would love to see you do a video from Mt. Tremblant Quebec. It has a village at the base and an indoor water park as well. I am planning to make the trip myself from NYC. I think would be cool to experience a north american ski area with a distinctly French feel and reminisant of a european ski town.
Amazing. I'd love to check it out - I lived in Vancouver but never made it to Quebec. Thanks for the idea.
Wish I had some friends to ski with, looked great. Me and the wife were due to go to Val Thorens just as lockdown hit. Maybe next year!
Hopefully we can travel by next ski season and you can get away. I don't want to miss a season!
Love the lower thirds you use in this video Robbie where do you get them from? I’d love something like that for my videos obviously not with the little ski lift icon just the style etc
I made them myself in after effects Dan.

I have always followed the journeys of awesome skiers.... It's kind of interesting to see how regular people take ski holidays, glad you had fun, Telluride is pretty awesome!! But God I want to give you a lesson!!!!
Ha ha. I'm sure I could do with a few lessons Paul!
@@RobbieKnox There's a guy running the Scottish (I think) racing program.... Chris something or other, he may have still been in Whistler when you were there.... If you happen to know him he'll sort you out!! Awesome skier, awesome teacher, awesome guy!! I left Whistler in '94 and followed a different career and now spend my weekends setting race gates for my kids in a very large ditch in the prairies of Canada.... If you make it back to BC there are tonnes of great little hills though, and we often get Europeans escaping the alps for the best snow in the world.... Anyway, you are close to getting it, you have good balance, a few hours with a performance oriented ski instructor would make a world of difference!! Keep having fun Bud!!!
Another banger Robbie. Am not a skiing fan but love looking at all the views as you fly down the mountains.

These ski videos are actually really awesome.

Awesome, I’d love to try that out. I’ll investigate.
Telluride looks amazing, I went to Val Thorens this year and was really impressed with everything there
Lots of people have mentioned Val Thorens. Was there decent apres ski?
Robbie Knox the apres was pretty good, there was a few really good bars that we found and a lot of restaurants too, only problem is that everything was very expensive

Love Skiing telluride. Moved to Colorado 22 years ago.
Secret is to stay in Ouray, Colorado 40 Minutes away and soak in the Hot springs after a long day of skiing.
That sounds amazing! Will try that next time!
I’ve never been skiing, one of those things that I’ve never got round to trying, definitely convinced to try after watching this, once the world gets back to some sort of normal!
You should, it's so fun.
This deserves more recognition!
Thanks Patrick. Seems quite a lot of people are seeing it so far though, so I’m pleased.
Interesting you mentioned feeling whoosey I had the same feeling in Jasper and a few other parts of the Canadian Rockies I have ear trouble and thought it was that
It was a really weird feeling. Just that everything wasn't right in my head.

Thanks Chris, they’re hard work to do so I appreciate the kind comments.
What was the name of the two ski resorts that Lia said were good for Apres Ski? 28:29
Hope you get out soon, but in the meantime, stay safe.
