I just received my Waterman Carene Marine Amber with a nib. It is out of this world! Beautiful and the sound when capping it is amazing. I got mine from Atlas Stationers as well. I have decided to ink it with Robert Oster African Gold...stunning together.
This pen is a hidden gem in my collection. So well balanced in the hand & excellent craftsmanship. It’s definitely not a beginners pen but I encourage any hesitant buyers to taken the plunge. I have found that the Carene really helped with my last hurdle to master calligraphy. It’s very positional & you have to be so intentional with your movements from your elbow pivot to the fingers. Love love love a sheen ink in it. One tip, don’t think of the black section as a grip, hold it more around the cap ring. It still will be messy but ya won’t look like you strangled an octopus. ENJOY!
That is one fine looking pen. Don't it just fit so well in the hand? Smooth nib. And one of the best looking in the sunlight. What more can you ask for? Hope you have gotten to know it better.
I acquired a Carene awhile ago in Black Sea finish, after waiting for the right pricing and availability to appear. One of my favorites. It is to be getting increasing review-love of late which I think is long overdue. Thank you for the deep reflection and test write.
I’ve had a Waterman Carene on my wishlist for years now. The one that I’m hoping to get one day is the L’Essence du Bleu edition. One of my first higher end fountain purchases was a Waterman. My mom bought one for me in high school, so I have a soft spot for this brand!
my oh my, on my short list, endless pens has a good pricing/deal but it's currently out of stock, amber medium. Enjoy this beautiful looking pen. I hope it will perform good just like Pilot Elite 95s. Now also out of stock with Atlas. They said be careful with closing it after inking so the finial will stay aligned with the nib.
This nib is VERY different from a Pilot nib - it is very wet, stiff but so smooth. Not glass smooth like a Pilot. I prefer this to the E95S to be honest!
My wife gave me this pen for Christmas about a month ago and it has quickly become a favorite. I have the L’Essence du Bleu version. It is amazing daily driver. I use it at work for notes in meetings all the time. It is incredibly elegant, but not ostentatious, which is good for a work setting. I’ve been eyeing this amber color and, if I get another, this will be the one I choose. Thanks for sharing it with us. Keep well.
Thank you, Ben! I'm hearing such great things about this pen and I'm so glad I took the plunge. The amber is beautiful, and your l'essence de Bleu is also stunning. Thanks for watching!
I have the same waterman carene in black and love it, it has a very unique writing experience, it almost feels like a very smooth and juicy rollerball.
Looks beautiful. Have several Watermans -- Allures and a Phileas, breaking my rule of having one per brand. And maybe I'll have to break it again for this one.
The Carene is the pen on my wish list for this year. I want the blue with the silver cap. I do like that Amber though. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about your new pen.
Thank you for this video. What a classy looking pen. I own a vintage waterman fountain pen and this is much more classy looking. Beautiful! Is the estie Esterbrook you showed here a regular size? Or an oversized? Thanks again!! 😘😘🤗❤️❤️🙏😊
I haven't noticed any leaking but I have heard from others that it has. I know some people recommend expelling some ink from the pen/converter before writing but altitude can also affect it.
Since you Penabled me to buy this pen, I used your code. Do you get to Collect your point when I receive it or can you get it because I've placed the order. 😂😂😂
Beautiful pen. Question: I've heard on the reddit forum that this pen is susceptible to hard starts due to drying. Apparently, the snap cap doesn't keep an air tight seal. Can you, or anyone chime in on this observation?
I love your nails. I've been meaning to tell you that on earlier videos. I would like to know if the Carene is a metal pen? There is not really any information on Atlas' site. Thanks
Beautiful pen!❤ I'm so glad you like it. Q: Does the gold end tip line up with the nib or is it askew? I have always had this pen on my radar because I love the E95s so much but always hesitated due to my concern on that one spot. 😊
I have a waterman 12poc it was made in the very early 1900s which makes it well over 100 years old, its an eyedropper and it has what Pier Gustafson calls a Boinga Boinga nib it is my second wet noodly est pen flex pen , I also have a 2nd waterman 12 with a clip which has a flex nib , and a 3rd waterman 12 which was a gift from pen friend @craigraccanova and it does not have a clip and has a slightly stiffer very extra fine nib which is also one of my favorite pens , These are all eyedropper pens I love them cause you dont have to worry if the ink is going to flow it has what they call a spoon feed which is a super duper flow ink feed I love them so much. I dont have any experience with modern waterman pens. Maybe someday in the future :)
I love the classic style of this pen. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for watching! I am so far loving this pen - understated classic for sure!

Hey that’s a really good matte nail polish, never seen before!
Thank you!

Yes, I agree - there are so many pens being reviewed and I had a harder time finding reviews on this. Thanks for watching!
a very good looking pen there. Looks very classy indeed 😀
It really is! Thanks for watching, Katie!

I’m glad you like it. I have the L'essence du Bleu version with a stub and a fine extra section and they both write great. Such a classy pen.
Thanks for sharing! That Bleu is gorgeous!
Oh my, this pen is STUNNING. So classy. I honestly never thought of getting a Waterman, but now I'm intrigued 🥰
I think you'd enjoy this one, especially since we have such similar tastes!
I have the same waterman carene in black and love it, it has a very unique writing experience, it almost feels like a very smooth and juicy rollerball.
Wow. Carene is a classic. 🎉 I like this amber version so much. 😊
Thanks Dash! Definitely an underrated gem!
I've never bought a Waterman pen before but this one is so stunning it's making it awfully tempting lol
I truly love mine - it was an unexpected underdog!
Whaat a beautiful pen! And I LOVE the ink…. I have that ink in my collection and its my favorite ‘pink’ ❤
I'm tempted to get a bottle of this ink... Thanks Denise!
I really enjoy my Waterman Expert, it's a classic pen and a lovely writer. The Carene looks beautiful.
It really is! I'm so excited to have this as part of my collection! Thanks for watching!

Thanks again!! 😘😘🤗❤️❤️🙏😊
The Esterbrook Estie is the regular size - perfect in my hands. Thanks for watching!
Now you have me wanting it….lol I want the one in blue
It's a great pen and that blue is gorgeous!
Wow that’s lovely! I’m not really in the market for vintage but this one has piqued my interest
It’s not actually a vintage pen but it has the classic look of one!
What a beautiful pen! I have mine in EF nib and I really like it too! But I noticed that it may have ink leaking. Does yours have the same problem? 😢
I haven't noticed any leaking but I have heard from others that it has. I know some people recommend expelling some ink from the pen/converter before writing but altitude can also affect it.
I have the same colour in a medium. It remains my favourite pen at the moment??????
Yes! So far I'm loving it and love reaching for it.

Haha yay thank you!!

I haven't had that experience yet, but I have only had it for a few days.
I love your nails. I've been meaning to tell you that on earlier videos. I would like to know if the Carene is a metal pen? There is not really any information on Atlas' site. Thanks
Thank you! From what I've read, the grip section is metal but the rest of the pen feels like resin, but do correct me if I'm wrong!
@@KarynaLovesToPlanI'm pretty sure it's lacquer over brass. Definitely not resin except for the grip.
@@marilyngardner4269 thank you!! I knew someone would know.

Great question, and yes the gold tip at the end matches with the angle of the nib!
@@KarynaLovesToPlan Thank you for the reply!
