Business is not based on social media. You can only use it for branding. Your own website and frequent emails in time will create a real customer base. Also you are fully in control.

Agree, I have found the default Intagram feed to be pretty poor for what I hope to see are photos. I have found the alternate feeds to better. You find the alternate feeds by tapping the word Instagram at the top. I found the following feed to be mostly the creators I follow in chronological order that they post. It works fine me to consume the posts. For creators getting their followers to use this alternate feed should increase their views, but I don't see it as a means to gain followers as there does not seem to be many posts in the feed outside those the viewer is already following.
Just started using Vero and it's great so far. Instagram forces so many ads and reels that I don't want to see in my feed. I started on Instagram for just photos and I wish it would stay that way. Tik Tok I don't use because I don't care for short vids and that type of content. It's for ADHD teens. lol
I have deactivated my Instagram account and reactivated my Vero account. I have done this, because I think the technical image quality at Vero is much better. During the last few weeks I got awkward image displays on instagram (not only adds which would be no problem, but images types I have never searched for or even liked). Maybe Vero will become the platform for photographers in the future or it will not, but I enjoy using it.

Vero's interesting as even after so many years it's still in its infancy and certain things are unclear, hopefully things will change for the best (it's still free now, but for how long? the technical part still needs tweaking, there's no clear source of revenue for them etc.). I'll be keeping both apps (Insta and Vero) but I'll start using them differently. I'm in the position of not having photography as my main activity, but I can understand why the creators are having to diversify and use multiple tools in order to get to where they want to be.
I have 1,700 followers and I hashtagged the 30 most popular relevant hashtags to a photo I posted yesterday. It reached just 89 of my followers and 13 people who didn't follow me. Instagram is dogshit.
Totally agree, I'm only a small channel but did start to grow then it just collapsed over night along with people trying to give away free phones etc basically its now full of scammers and people trying to make you buy stuff ! personally I have moved over to VERO for the time being.
I also do not like the video push on Instagram. I moved to VERO. It’s nice.
Vero is the way to go
A CLASSIC scenario of artists not understanding a company's neverending drive for perpetual double digit growth. Instagram exists to make HUGE sums of money - NOTHING MORE AND NOTHING LESS and in this instance they have decided Reels (for the MASSES) is the answer. Just saying.
@@RiceCake-ep9gu yup. IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME.... provide what the people want then change the goal posts to make bigger bank. Marketing 101. Forget about BS social media and just print your own personal books for your own personal viewing I say.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Just reactivated my Vero account and are transitioning there. I’ve spent a decade on Instagram, both my own account as well as creating hubs sharing other’s photos. Did this to acknowledge beautiful photography and hopefully make people proud of their work. I closed down a huge account, had 100k followers and it generated like 100 likes per photo. Started to loose followers although I didn’t do anything wrong. Still posting nature pics on one account, but it’s the same, it’s getting invisible…
So totally agree that instagram is what it is because of every amazing photography there. These videos are horrible as they almost give you epilepsy, being so fast. Nah, stuff instagram. Will close it all down, as I did with Fakebook.
Adobe Stock Photo has very nice and customization-able portfolios with contact info for free!
