I was serving in the US army from 01-05, stationed in South Korea in the dead of winter, -15 outside. This woman, Chely Wright was on a USO tour. She spent 9 hours outside signing autographs and giving every single soldier a hug. A truly beautiful woman inside and out
It’s a shame because when she came out that Nashville crucified her. I read her book and I cried through parts of it. Now we have an openly gay male, one of a duo, that says he’s tired of not seeing any videos of same sex couples on country music tv. That’s great I hope they do whatever they want to. It just isn’t fair that an artist of Chely’s class and significance in her song writing and singing is still paying for standing her ground. Her last country album was made with her almost killing her self. I saw the videos and they were absolutely beautiful but I knew she had cancer and was dying. Nope! She was just dying from a heart break because she couldn’t come out and lost her love of a number of years because of it. In the end, she did come out, but only after she sat with a pistol in her hands and then in her mouth because she was broken over losing some one for she knew that coming out at that time would kill her career. It didn’t matter when it was, it killed her Nashville career but she gained so much! In case anyone thinks I’m anti gay, I’m not. My only daughter is a lesbian and I have never turned my back on her. I even talk about her homosexuality with people. It is not for me. But I am not anyone’s judge. I pray for her and love her with my whole heart. In the end, all I want is her happy and healthy. Let’s all remember, you do you, I’ll do me, and let the rest do what ever they want. Not our place to do anything but love them unconditionally. This is being said because I know what the Bible says about homosexuality but I also know what it says about LOVE! Love is above all in the Bible! Hate the sin, love the sinner.
I am a straight woman and it baffles me that an artists sexuality makes any difference whatsoever to the amazing music they make. I have been a fan of hers from when she first started out in the early 1990’s. I can’t make sense of why anyone thinks her being gay or not has any impact on her ability to make beautiful music.
It's about the music. She does country the way it is supposed to be done. Now she is doing the American music, she has a terrific voice and has always shown great passion in her work.
Congrats to Chely for being free now. She is one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL ladies in country music. She is just absolutely GORGEOUS IN THIS VIDEO AND WHAT A WELL WRIITEN SONG!!!!!

I think that people forget that, a singer has the opportunity to sing a song either from their own experiences or for those that can't sing about their own. Years ago I remember hearing this song, and thinking it would do well. Man. loved her so much back in the day. Saw her live in 1994 I think it was at a nearby County fair. Long before she finally made it Big on Country Radio which took years to finally happen. Although I never hear her songs on the radio anymore. Even on the classic country stations I don't hear much of Chely, Lari White, even Holly Dunn. Proving Music directors don't know a hell of allot. Can't believe that Lari and Holly are both gone now.
I always enjoyed this video, and several of Chely's songs. It was great to see her have the #1 with "Single White Female", though a lot of her other songs were vastly underrated on the charts! Oh, and Vince Gill's backing vocals on this song are superb!
The lyrics do describe how love feels, but Chely shows the multiple emotions of love so perfectly in this video. Watching her showing her raw emotions without holding back, left me breathless.
She's a great entertainer, to those of us who like listening and watching her perform, nothing else should matter. What is the point of the rest of this discussion? Its all about the music folks.

This is my favorite song from Chely hands down. I'm sad that she's not in country anymore but I'll listen to anything she sings!
Man. loved her so much back in the day. Can't believe that Lari and Holly are both gone now.
im not crazy about country music....but she is amazing!!!
Magical...just spellbound....💋
I always enjoyed this video, and several of Chely's songs. It was great to see her have the #1 with "Single White Female", though a lot of her other songs were vastly underrated on the charts! Oh, and Vince Gill's backing vocals on this song are superb!
The lyrics do describe how love feels, but Chely shows the multiple emotions of love so perfectly in this video. Watching her showing her raw emotions without holding back, left me breathless.
Love this💕
We all miss you
Come back to music💕
Have always loved this one
She's a great entertainer, to those of us who like listening and watching her perform, nothing else should matter. What is the point of the rest of this discussion? Its all about the music folks.
