They were a lot more wild back much earlier in their career as a band. Never saw this before. Crazy dancing and movements on the stage, and the screams! It just seems like a raw performance that is really good.
@@cdickHe dumped her before of this , along of time ago and he didn’t care when she was a cuter girl , however in this performance she is cute and badass, great !!
I remember this. I've been a fan of her since before Tragic Kingdom. I still have their first album and Beacon Street album. I love them! I'm from California, and she was a local artist so many of us already loved them.
Obviously just trying to do something to stand out on tv. This was their first introduction to their band for most people even though it was their 3rd album. I remember seeing her energy and edgyness in the Excuse Me Mr, video and that's what really broke them on MuchMusic here in Canada, before Just a Girl or Don't Speak they were really pushing the Excuse Me Mr video
I remember looking up in the tv guide to see if No Doubt was performing on any of the late shows. I would then set the VCR to record it. I was a complete Gwennabe! #90s #90skid #90steen
@@DesertScorpionKSA Believe it or not, a lot of women don't like for strange men to put their hands on them or try to kiss them. Gwen was not very famous at the time and Conan could have probably gotten away with it.
I saw this interview with Selena. The interviewer tried to subtly put his arm around her. She sent a strong nonverbal message that she didn't want that. Good for her.
Woow!!! Many years have passed since that first appearance of this great singer Gwen Stefani with her group called No doubt and she still looking the same as 20 years ago!!! Way to go, girl!!!
She and they were badass and she only got better and better. She is a natural front 'man,' and such a sexy sexy voice. I'm so happy for her. She managed despite fame.
The song "Don't Speak" sent No Doubt into the stratosphere of attention and celebrity. The albums after Tragic Kingdom didn't have the energy that this album and the earlier albums had. No Doubt was a Ska/Punk band who quickly became a pop band after Tragic Kingdom and Gwen went on to become a household celebrity - great for her (if you want that) but sad for the early fans of No Doubt. This song is a great example of the energy and attitude No Doubt started out with but quickly lost as their popularity increased.
Not sad at all for me. I was an early fan, I had their cassette tape in 93 and saw their free shows in southern cali. It was exhilarating to see Gwen and the band on national television, winning awards, etc. I feel like I grew up with them and explored all the different avenues they explored along with them. I loved ska/punk in high school but I also went on to love many other types of music. It was so cool to have them evolve along with me. No doubt’s old music is still out there to be enjoyed. Gwen is so multi talented, she branched out brilliantly and hasn’t stopped decades later. That’s a sign of a true artist. 💓
The band members may have channel their banging on the outside energy to get in to the muzic scene. Kind of punkish resentment in the lyrics. No Doubt succeeded. Not much rebellion and resentment in being rich. Starving artists have an edge, no doubt. I still love them and what they did. Not everyone deserves their success but No Doubt earned it.
Those eyebrows though, that’s the so cal chola influence right there. I have so many friends who plucked their eyebrows in the 90’s and the never grew back haha.
It was a harsh looking trend that went into the 00s. Gwen seems to have grown hers back :) Her hair seems strong in general, but I’m sure your friends can too. I’d recommend castor oil.
@VanielDeefoI I don't think they grew back, They can do something like çosmeticlythreading them back in and with all her money and vanity she must have had that done.
I loved Gwen from the beginning. I had this CD before they hit and my friends thought it was strange.. fast forward 6 months and that all wouldn’t shut up about how Hot Gwen was, like I already know this ya dummies
hahahaha! didnt exspect this type of gwen! screaming, shouting, still the same good voice! but she seems so goth and punk , but the music is still awesome! I LOVE GWEN STEFANI!!! shes so different than those other so called famous singers who are posers!! just she's scary in this vid...but love the song! haha that host guy scared her at the end made her scream and shout back at him!
I never knew that they were originally part of the alternative music scene until very recently. When I was searching on here for the Vandals version of Oi to the world and their version came up. So I did a search for more information on them and found that they were originally part of the alternative music scene of California. I was surprised at the because I had known them for their pop hits like Don't Speak and Its My Life.
@@swampcrypt No Doubt was a good band with a great style of their own. Well, she now plays for the masses and her music, style, and voice are not good.
talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
Awesome, if not a tad awkward. Though I've kind of noticed, that pop and softer indie acts tend to sound awesome in these live studio performances, while the more energetic rock, punk, and alternative acts tend to seem more awkward, perhaps because they don't have the same type of crowd energy to play off of? Idk, just something I've noticed.
Been a huge fan of No Doubt and Gwen even before they hit it big. I seen them all over Orange County and lived in Anaheim when they was doing their thing. But I never seen this one and I got to say WTF? I am so glad that they did not stay in this direction.
Really? I think she gets plenty lol. Unless you mean nowadays and sure, it's mostly because she hasn't been touring all that much, let alone with No Doubt.

She had her own unique style already back then......the 90’s awesome an time....
Hard to believe it was just a scant 25 years ago. Funny how time flies.
The scream at 3:45 seems to be a pretty rare scream for her. It was awesome!
What about 1:33? ahahha holy JESUS she went full baritone Bobbie Dooley from the Phil Hendrie Show
Yes! Love it!

I like the way Conan just shakes her hand instead of trying to kiss her or put his hands on her like a lot of talk show hosts used to do.

I had the no doubt casette demo in the 1980s, I am so glad Gwen became an American with Blake.
Gwen had that unique voice from Day 1 (long before Tragic Kingdom). I wonder how the “judges” on The Voice would have accepted her?

This is the Gwen that I liked, before "stardom" and the thought that she was better than the band. wrong.
She sold her soul and is such a disappointment
Her goal was to be a “star “ she said. Looks like she’ll do anything for stardom.

She changed before Blake was in the picture in my opinion.
It wasn’t Blake. She sold out before he came along.
