Comms limitations might be THE most important thing that separates good multiplayer games from exceptional ones. Nice to see someone else articulate the thought well.
It's so fun when both the ship and Marines down ground are under heavy attack. The ensuing chaos makes it pretty fun. You know things gone wrong when PFCs were becoming squad leader.
Are you feeling okay Rimmy? because this is unusually talkative and introspective for you; also there's not a lot of screaming and getting angry at people which has me worried as well
@@jeremiahsmith4235 Both of these seem fun, what would you recommend for the gmod gamemode? Is there still a community like there is one for prop hunt?
Hey, our server got one good regular after the last tide, so not all is bad! Just a biiit more baldies and a lot of tutorializing peeps who don't immediately try to murder you.
I mean Radio *IS* very important but RIMMY-Doesn't sub text in Arma-3 Us Fans- *TRIGGERED* !!! These subs are the things that I never knew I wanted Off topic, I know
As I listen to your commentary I realized that the way your videos in this series are put together feel a lot like a Dan Abnett WH40k book. Where you get multiple different perspectives of the same event leading up to the main ending where everything comes together and see the end result. It's very well done.
A reminder that the radio in SS13 has its own scripting language which can be messed with, e.g the player AI filters out communications that mention the words Borg and Kill. It rewards experimentation
Rimmy didn't just slog through SS13, he only went and brought half the ARMA 3 bullshittery/meme creators along with him. If you had somehow bribed the ZF clan to help you'd have made a full house! Love the video mate
Something that will always be an effect I love, in something like funny moments of a game on a RUclips channel, or even in a full proper movie, is when someone is mid-sentence and is killed, or otherwise stopped from finishing what they are saying over radio. In some situations it can be chilling, in others it can be hilarious, but it's just another reason to love having an actual radio in game instead of just having teamspeak or discord in the background.
Thank you for explaining this so well. It made me rather sad when I heard the Post Scriptum devs had no intention of implementing loctional voip and radio channels because "people would just use other programs like TS/Discord/etc." While in a public server you are always going to get groups, or whole teams circumventing more realistic communication it can still be fun for those of us who aren't, and having the option already built in makes things a lot easier for private/organised games by people who all want that type of game.
I just recently started watching your content and have been burning through it and just yesterday ai saw your video with the game about being a radio commander and was like damn I cant wait to see his essay about radios and then today you bless me like the rains down in Africa
Love the fusterclucks but these video essays on arma are brilliant. Really interesting examinations of the Game design of arma and similar multiplayer games
I played Barotrauma and I can say when you go out to mine and you return to see the ship sink only to hear "KERMIT IM SORRY" on the radio only to be followed by a reactor meltdown.
With the Shacktac videos I would end up watching the same mission multiple times as everyone edited their own videos. It is good to have shared resources in the one video.
I hope some Dev's take a look at this (looking at you secret neighbor guys), since there are a lot of games that could improve so much with adding a simple proximity chat. Radio's are a good bonus.
Yeah, I’m a radio transmission officer(rto) in the 501st for Arma. I’m a squad rto, so I communicate up to plt. The lr makes arma much more interesting and fun, and it’s something I could never get on any other game. I’ve never seen a game put this much emphasis on communication
I'm a bit disappointed that Rimmy hasn't discovered Foxhole yet. It takes a special kind of person to enjoy wondering what happened to the promised shipment of AT rifle ammo while an enemy armoured platoon bears down on your FOB.
The thing with Chinese Whispers. I’m American and I remember playing it twice and I remember it being called by both names by my classmates in elementary school.
I saw your channel yesterday and it is beautiful. Also about subs it is helpful for people who don't really understand English. For example, i can't understand much of talking in videos without subs because of my skill. So, thank you for this videos you are making.
I know that feel in EVE online... Specially when you're separated from the rest of the fleet a jump or more away, you have only a glimpse about the clusterfuck that is going on and about to assist. Then you found yourself at the wrong end of a warp and into the belly of ambush itself instead of being the flank. Fuck. My Isk.
I will always remember my first milsim session in the PvP mission I was in the last squad to be alive and in the PvE mission I was the last one alive on 1 side of Falujah and had to run back as the players spectating me saw how I missed every possible enemy
I think you might truly enjoy the game Intruder if you have a love for radios and proximity chat. It has a great 3D sound element and a wonderful radio implemented in the core game.
Now I agree wholeheartedly with this but I hardly ever have any friends to play games with due to my life situation so unfortunately I only scarcely get to experience this, but when I do it's fantastic.
A man this reminds me of a time in ss13, were the captain gave the medals to the clown which was i think sydicate or just being anoying. And he gave the medals to stop doing it.
I am an anime girl
did you like your body stand in? I know you enjoy having alternate accounts, Sseth

Omg mommy is here
@@comradecommissar1945 I'm sending mine as well
Because the radio is how I tell the trees are speaking Vietnamese

Odd Disappointment because I’m the wanderer, I roam around, around, around

its like I said. Arma is basically VR chat with a bit of pve

Ah yes the ork mission radio. Which was brilliant while only consisting of WAAAAGH!, Git and Krump.
Well i can believe what you say since your voice is hearable honey. You dont say "power" but "powah
"POWAH!!!!" Jeremy Clarkson
SS13 CMs radio can descend into absolute madness. Its beautiful, especially when the marine commander abandons his duty to attack beer thieves.
It's so fun when both the ship and Marines down ground are under heavy attack. The ensuing chaos makes it pretty fun. You know things gone wrong when PFCs were becoming squad leader.

This should be an educational video for game devs
This is remarkably true and I have loved SCP for ages because of this exact feature

Yo, this is an amazing commentary.. I would love to see this again. IDK what you have in store but anything like this gets my vote without a doubt
Gonna be honest i was not ready for a short documentary. I came here to laugh and left a changed man.

Proximity Chat makes Rising Storm 2 so fun. Talking to the enemy team and only to the people around you just makes the game so different.
I love how you put this, I have always loved radio mechanics but I never knew how to explain why they are great.
this is a great change for content, the video is well done giving many points to look for in games:)
A reminder that the radio in SS13 has its own scripting language which can be messed with, e.g the player AI filters out communications that mention the words Borg and Kill. It rewards experimentation
The best part is riding on the tank and singing Country Roads years before or after it was invented

Aaaahh... Internet historian, i see you're a man of culture as well.
My radio has songs that brainwash citizens to pledge their allegiance to me
Brainwashing my glorious leader?
I believe you mean, "Patriotic encouragement"

You ought to get yourself a body pillow of Guglielmo Marconi (inventor of the radio) seeing how you love radios so much

I just laughed so hard at one moment : Even french people use the term "telephone" for the child's game.
