For months I've been looking to buy one of these, but most dealers say "Sold out." Festool's own site says "limited availability." Finally, earlier this week I found one at a dealer within reasonable driving distance. I am very happy I did. This week, I took it to a new job site and put it to work. Wow, no disappointment: it was a joy to use. I needed to break down some heavy large sheets of hardwood plywood. I used to absolutely hate having to single-handedly heft those large sheets up on the sawhorses or cutting table for the initial breakdown of sheet goods. Now it's a breeze. It's obvious that it makes a good work surface for cutting, but it's portability, compact design, and ability to assist in material handling make it really shine, especially for someone who works single-handed.
Are the plastic parts available as replacements? I'm considering this tool but after reports of Festool not being able to replace some plastic parts I am concerned.
I thought it was silly when he started moving all the bits and pieces around, thinking people with a centipede are laughing right now. Then he tipped it over and threw the sheet on it and tipped it up. At that point I was impressed.
I have the centipede and its a hateful thing to use on your own. Its difficult to load a 19mm thick full sheet and if you cut off anything under 600mm wide its not fully supported and falls on the floor. Fore Sale one slightly used centipede.
@@tobyhague5974 I am with you there I have a Centipede from Bora and I ask myself why the hell did I buy this thing? It is a pain in the asre to open up and it tends to close up if bumping into it. I use the 5ft by 5ft sheet goods at times when doing cabinet work and it does not do well in that regards. Tends to slide around when trying to put a 4 x 8 sheet of ply of laminated mdf by ones self. If this new thing from Festool will hold the rail onto the side when removing sheet goods or putting on sheet goods I may have to give it a spin in my one man shop. I am not sure I would sell my Centipede as my wife likes to use it a s a portable table for hold stuff during birthday parties and it is easy for her to setup with my foam board I use for breaking down sheet goods.
Really love this idea and think it would work really well for me I’m a big Festool fan! But over £1000 no way I can justify the cost. Please review the price Festool
In the video it looked like there was a lot of flex, not very rigid, especially given the price. It was really cool how he tipped it over to load the panel though.
it has a sticker price of, better take a seat and grab some smelling salts, 1,200.00 Euros. that’s roughly 1.300.00 bucks. the Sales tax, the truck, saw, track system, the guy and his boots are not included in this price.
@@andrewmcgillivray1881 They are a small company and it is designed to be used with their existing tools. Most people are buying so much cheap Chinese products that they do not realize that quality western made goods that do the job will cost more. People in the future will be saying $25000 western cars are expensive as they drive around in $10,000 bits of plastic junk with a western brand name but not made in the west.
I have a lot of Festool tools and yeah, they cost what they cost, but the price of this is a real stretch. Half of what it is would still be expensive, but justifiable
4 horses, $40 in materials or $1,295.00 for this, Festool have lost their direction, they need more tradesmen on their development team. I have better ideas for tools than this scaffolding horror.
I agree, way to many moving parts and pcs,.if it never left a shop then I guess it could survive. Job site to job site to job site....that thing would self destruct in no time.
Just got 1 as a gift. Neat, but near worthless for a field carpenter. Notice how smooth and level the surface is he's rolling that across? If your floor isn't level, this thing is garbage. Legs only adjust in 2" increments. Wtf? Mines still in the box. 800usd if anyone is interested...

Woah, looks interesting
Scott, you should try it out brother! I've seen your channel, you do amazing work!
@@jmulato04jm cheers bro
I want to see a head to head that versus the portable one y'all made on your channel!
Kameron probably has it already....
@@Ashe_Fenrir That would be great, love to try it out
That is exactly how everyone's garage or shop looks for ease of use

Very slick system. Definitely something I need to look into.
What kind of material were you cutting?

Brent, forgive the silly question, but what boots are you wearing?
Now the question is how much?
$1000 on tool nut

$1,295.00 now
This looks incredibly useful but the 1200cad price tag is pretty startling
Festool is for those who value time over money.
1300 CAD$. I am sure it is worth it for a very specific segment of the trade population, but not me. Nor anyone I know.

Not worth $1000.

A decent effort, but I think someone will do it better/cheaper if they don't already. Looks flimsy, fragile and over complicated.
Employees who just went to training from my company got to use this product at Festool and they loved it. Very sturdy and user-friendly.

No it would not.
If you are throwing it of the side of a build it will but not if carrying in by hand.
