While there is a LOT to like about the lead in to this mission, like Captain Anderson's slight tensing and turning of his head to port as the missile slams into the starboard side of his ship, the catapult launch officer who was probably kinda excited to potentailly break the launch catapult because who's gonna report it, right?, to the way Anderson's voice wavers _just a little_ when he talks about how he's lost "time and time again"... the gut-punch of the _Kestrel_ going down, and the surge of emotion seeing the former enemies and allies forming into a massive armada to save each other's homes. But somehow, watching it again after years, there's just something potent in a line from President Harling. Something in his delivery of "Right now they are flying east to meet the enemy." AC:5 was never my "favorite" of the Big Three (Ace Combat 4, Ace Combat 5, Ace Combat Zero). That spot goes to AC:4. But AC:5 is an amazing game and fun to play. I look forward to replaying them at some point. "Woof, woof, woof!" YES [ > < ] NO
I remember when mission started and checked the radar I though "this is gonna be tough". And then Yukes and Oseans started joining and singing. Yes, I started crying. AC 5 is amazing, and the last 3 missions are EPIC!!!
i don't really remember how many years has it been since the last time I played this game.. but that moment when those green markers turns blue and Yuktobanian tells they'd fight on our side, I shed tears.. I did so in my childhood, and I still do so now.. and then I sing along with the rest of the pilots.. haha..
I’m constantly reminded of the handshake between the President and the Prime minister. I wish the U.S and Russia could do this today. Just sucks even world leaders can’t get along.
That was a interesting story to see, I regret not playing those Ace combat games years ago, I guess I had a limited budget and was more focused on large team combat games at that point or star wars and city building stuff. oh well have a happy holidays everyone all year round every year :D
We could sure use statesmen like Harling and Nikanor right about now. Speaking of, I can only imagine how devastated Nikanor was when he found out that...well, I don't want to spoil things for the newcomers.
God I love how this briefing sums up everything you’ve done in the game to this point climaxing into a mid briefing attack with one of the most memorable launches in Ace Combat History 0:51 that little “End of Stream” error really contributes to the idea that they pieced it all together, right before the forces that be tries to stop them.
when I first played this game, after playing Ace Combat 4, and hearing that name Sky Eye, my eldest bro and I were both nerding out as it was an obvious call back to that game. A friendly name at the best time
TugaAvenger, I totally agree with your description. They could have went more all out on this mission, but still it's very solid in other aspects. Personally, I think they could have used Bartlett more. I would have liked to know if he survived the battle. It would have been super emotional to have Bartlett rejoin the squad after the tunnel run and have some dialogue there. A passing of the torch if you will. Anyway, I'm just super critical of the game, mostly because it was my favorite game on PS2 back in the day.
If i have to describe AC5 in a sentence, it would be "Good ideas, great concepts, but poorly applied" maybe due to the hardware limitations of the time, most of the missions could have been amazing, while most of the missions has such it impact in the story, they kind feel underwhelming. I mean... imagine this mission like the Lighthouse from AC7, having a giant air battle betwen fourth factions at once, the Osean forces leaded by Hamilton, the Yukes Warmongers, the Grey Men private army and the Razgriz coaltion as all are trying to kill eachother in order to get the nuke, as a desperated attend, the Grey Men decides to use the SOLG's orbital charges (kind of like the Arsenal Bird's Hellios projectiles) in order eliminate each faction, while you have to provide support to the ground units in order to open the tunnels... Holly hell... if AC5 has the remote chance of been remade in this life... i really hope PA manage to do something like that.
IIRC Osean forces under Hamilton, Yuke warmonger faction and Grey men is on the same side, all three of them is under the same belkan conspiracy group that start this Yuketobania- Osean war. So in the context of the story, it's make sense to only have two faction that fight each other. Belkan conspiracy group (8492nd and Yuke warmonger) and Razgriz coalition force (Razgriz, Osean squadron, and Yuktobanian squadron).
I'll admit the combined force flying together and singing the song together makes me tear up every time, I just can't help it! The idea is just beautiful... Also, I love the captain. One of the best support characters on top of being a badass oldtimer. We need more badass oldtimers in games!
Am I the only one who finds the image of Razgriz flying X-02s more appealing than F-14s, 22s, YF-23s? It's fitting, really. The Wyvern is part of the dragon family, and we're cutting down similar threats here. Plus, lore says that the plane had at least a single unit produced by none other than Grunder Industries. Hoisting them by their own petard. That's something I love.
I love that the Oscen first fighter wing laid out their commanding officer to help you guys, meaning he was either a Belkan or a warmonger and they decided, "Piss on you, I work for President Harling."

Something in his delivery of "Right now they are flying east to meet the enemy."
AC:5 was never my "favorite" of the Big Three (Ace Combat 4, Ace Combat 5, Ace Combat Zero). That spot goes to AC:4. But AC:5 is an amazing game and fun to play. I look forward to replaying them at some point.
"Woof, woof, woof!"
YES [ > < ] NO
I remember when mission started and checked the radar I though "this is gonna be tough". And then Yukes and Oseans started joining and singing. Yes, I started crying. AC 5 is amazing, and the last 3 missions are EPIC!!!
The fact that you finished the trench run in the last 2ish minutes is INSANE.
4:40 - I don't think anyone else has noticed it but Admiral Anderson is referencing a great legend of our time. The legend of the "Auspicious Crane".
There's two kinds of people:
1. People who started singing along at the beginning of Mission 27
2. L I A R S
"The game can't be so emotional? The game:
If you think about it, that last take off from the kestrel could of been another mission.
If you don't touch the Throttle during the intro of the mission, the targets come into range JUST as the music starts.
Always gave me chills lol
The briefing bring interrupted in this mission always gives me chills.
With current events, I wish reality was like this.
A group of soldiers standing up for the right thing to stand against war.
We can only hope.
What song is this in mission:27 on ace combat 5 because this is amazing
I don't know I can get so emotional from this beginning part when I don't even play this game
I need to now
They really need to bring Ace Combat to life as a full movie film
i don't really remember how many years has it been since the last time I played this game.. but that moment when those green markers turns blue and Yuktobanian tells they'd fight on our side, I shed tears.. I did so in my childhood, and I still do so now.. and then I sing along with the rest of the pilots.. haha..
Honestly, Briefing 2 is an excellent song... it fits the mood waaaay too well.
R.I.P. OFC Kestrel
Man, this really brings back memories.
Who knew an Ace Combat Game would make me cry, until I remembered that the soundtracks in AC0 to 7 also made me cry
18:50 yellow
I’m constantly reminded of the handshake between the President and the Prime minister. I wish the U.S and Russia could do this today. Just sucks even world leaders can’t get along.
I couldn't stop tears when the kestrel was gone
;_;7
Yup, we all loved that super carrier.
"This formation's not really suited for air-to-ground operations"
*DON'T YOU INSULT THE TOMCAT.*
im more Strike-Eagle (F-15) and im still with you.
DON'T YOU INSULT THE TOMCAT. X2
After playing ZERO Just make 05 MORE EPIC
That was a interesting story to see, I regret not playing those Ace combat games years ago, I guess I had a limited budget and was more focused on large team combat games at that point or star wars and city building stuff. oh well have a happy holidays everyone all year round every year :D
This game had no reason to be this emotional and epic. It's a arcade flight shooter
This mission really needed checkpoints. Great game but I wish the tunnel segment was its own mission or something
Anxiety overload I must say
17:44 this right here is why I still have hope for people.
The buildup to the tunnel is insanely immersive, but god does smacking the “hurdles” at the end of the tunnel 20 times in a row kill that lol
We could sure use statesmen like Harling and Nikanor right about now.
Speaking of, I can only imagine how devastated Nikanor was when he found out that...well, I don't want to spoil things for the newcomers.
AC5 is so legendary. Long live the Kestrel 😭
God I love how this briefing sums up everything you’ve done in the game to this point climaxing into a mid briefing attack with one of the most memorable launches in Ace Combat History
0:51 that little “End of Stream” error really contributes to the idea that they pieced it all together, right before the forces that be tries to stop them.
2020 election brought me here. Presidential speech of Harling and Nikanor is the best moment I've ever memorized.
Oof, I can't think of anything that'd be FURTHER from the current election. I'm glued to the tabs following this. Barely slept tonight.
8:30 makes me a little teary every time I play through it
18:48 You're a whole continent away from Erusea, Yellow whatever-number-you-bear.
Well, that didn't stop them in 7. Maybe it's a drone...
@@TugaAvenger ruclips.net/video/kZpwTDvRE7g/видео.html
But what if that Yellow is actually a Free Erusean member that lost his ass all the way to South Belka?
@@champagnegascogne9755 It's Jean-Louis
The Razgriz flew forward without hesitation, on their wings, the hope of all who desire peace.
when I first played this game, after playing Ace Combat 4, and hearing that name Sky Eye, my eldest bro and I were both nerding out as it was an obvious call back to that game. A friendly name at the best time
Now we know what it was like for Lando to fly the falcon in and out of the last Death Star
Briefing 2 is such a majestic theme....
Unpopular opinion:oka nieba should have used an A50 instead of a E767
TugaAvenger, I totally agree with your description. They could have went more all out on this mission, but still it's very solid in other aspects. Personally, I think they could have used Bartlett more. I would have liked to know if he survived the battle. It would have been super emotional to have Bartlett rejoin the squad after the tunnel run and have some dialogue there. A passing of the torch if you will. Anyway, I'm just super critical of the game, mostly because it was my favorite game on PS2 back in the day.
not gonna cry...must not cry *cries* damn feels
This game needs a remake, I'd like to see this game with the current technology in video games
17:07 you don't have the guts to hold that throttle!!😂
Then again, neither do i! Haha
One of the few mission opening that make me cry
The most sadest lost of ace combat series behind only of chopper
I'd give a kidney for a remaster of this game.
The Ace Combat series deserves a remaster
I love that the Oscen first fighter wing laid out their commanding officer to help you guys, meaning he was either a Belkan or a warmonger and they decided, "Piss on you, I work for President Harling."
Who’s hopping that this Game gets Remastered?
The only game I still play on my ps2
This mission intro is absolute cinema.
