damn this version is all over the place. the final mix is a lot more cohesive but this has some cool stuff going on. I like Kanye's tone in his verses here a lot more honestly.

This was one of my favorite eras. Stuff getting upgraded with patch notes really had the project feeling like a year of drops
Really interesting that so many people seem to prefer this to the album version; not only do I feel that the album version is 10 times better, but I feel like the sheer difference in quality really emphasises why Kanye is such a genius. There isn't a single difference between these two that I think wasn't a good decision. There's so many superfluous samples and sounds that just don't gel (especially the sample after the Ray J line) - the minimal final mix is a perfectly judged and curated balance of all these ideas. Ye is on another level.
I think this track is better but it sonically doesn't fit Pablo as well as the version that ended up on the album which is more minimal and in line with the kind of production that ended up on the album

The emotion of the takes and the changes in this makes way more sense, The arrangement in this sounds better too. It’s in a different key than the final version but it still slaps way harder. Especially when the marching band drums kick in and stay for the rest of the track.
