Congrats on the pickups. Those Pirate cards are cool. Totally agree that when you're looking for rarer things - if you find something that doesn't come up often, you've got to jump on it!
Beautiful Pirate cards! Are you going to crack Blackbeard out of his crumpled PSA Baggie, and move him into a nice black SGC frame to match the other Pirates? A card that gorgeous deserves a proper presentation. Nice pickup on Sammy as well. Looks stellar for the grade.
Absolutely fantastic pick ups. You’re REALLY closing the gap on that complete set. What an awesome deal. I’m happy for you my friend. Have a wonderful weekend.
Great pick ups ! I really like the Baugh. Such an undervalued card. But, I must compliment you on your strategy on building the pirate set ! I think your journey to building that set will be a great documentary of how to do it going forward. Having a reserve of cash to be ready to pounce when the opportunity presents itself. Realizing the importance of the 1st and last card of any set in critically important to building any vintage set. Newer collectors need to understand the importance of the bookends to a vintage set. Even if the card isn’t a recognized name. Good job and keep going !
Thanks for diving deeper into my question, Graig. That's why I'm working on building a buffer in my card account, so if something pops up that I really want, I can grab it and not worry about wiping out my funds. Because there are so many cards I want, I have to have a list to work off of, and I need to keep that list relatively small so I don't get distracted quite as much.
Love your Manning collection - very cool to root for someone you have a personal connection with. The Bluebeard is a great card and love that you targeted it and pulled the trigger when you found it. That Baugh is a great looking card. Looks like he is avoiding the rush so he can fire a pass. Will be a great accomplishment when you complete the Gunter pirates set. I am sure with patience and persistence you will get there! Thanks for sharing.
Your pickup vids are my faves. Well I like it when you talk to your dad too. Love the pirate card pickups. Getting a Matt Manning auto card too. I like that you support your former student. Also congrats getting on to Dr. B’s podcast. Those were some thoughtful questions you had for him. He had great answers particularly talking about his start of Beckett price guide.
Graig, love the content! I am also completing a Sammy Baugh run. Picked up a great copy of the ‘49 Leaf at a recent card show. As a life long TCU fan it’s fun to collect his cards. Also, it’s a very affordable run for a change haha.
Graig, I think the PSA graders looked at that image of Black Beard and said to one another, "I'm not giving this card a 1.5, are you?!" Even his image had them shaking in their boots! 🤣🤣👊👊Epic pickups and I can feel your excitement! Congrats my friend! P.S. I appreciated the sneak peaks via text!
Graig, here is a question for your next Q&A: Did you know that SGC upcharges? How many in the hobby know that PSA isn’t the only grader that upcharges? I was just commenting on a video from Junk Wax Hero on the Chamberlain SGC 10. Someone commented that SGC will hammer you with upcharges just like PSA. Both myself and Junk Wax Hero were shocked as we both thought only PSA upcharge. Have you heard that before as there are alot of Pro-SGC vintage RUclipsrs and i’ve never heard any of them mention SGC upcharge, but will hammer PSA for the same practice
Nice Pirate cards!! I like them. But I’m trying hard not to fall into that rabbit-hole. I also have a few old model ships from the 1700 and 1800s. (Including the Black Pearl).
I like your Pirates of the Caribbean, August. There's going to be a part 6. Not sure if, Johnny Depp is returning as Jack Sparrow. Do you like the classic films like Sinbad, The Seahawk or Captain Blood? Maybe Treasure Island. Princess Bride had Andre the Giants, but the Muppets had their own Island. Captain Phillips, was a great movie. ''Look at me, I'm the Captain now''. Keep buying the Pirates cards, Graig. They are beautiful cards, and they make you happy. At least these are not the Pirates that beat the Orioles, uh, twice.
At Dallas show .way too many bullshit folks set up as ..supposed dealers .prices are way to high .folks are trying to sell .dont see much money changing hands .hobbby is in a odd spot
Arrr!!! Those are some nice pickups, Graig! If I ever see the Manning 1/1 Superfractor at a card show, I will definitely email you. Also, my submission is in for the month. Take care and have a great weekend!
Graig beautiful pickups this month thanks for showing us my brother
Thanks so much, my friend.
Congrats on the pickups. Those Pirate cards are cool. Totally agree that when you're looking for rarer things - if you find something that doesn't come up often, you've got to jump on it!
Totally. Rare stuff isn't the kind of stuff you can be patient on.
I'm not a pirate card guy but I love looking at the ones you spend YOUR money on. Good Stuff!
LOL. Thanks. There are a lot of channels where I enjoy other people's pickups, even if they aren't cards on my want list.

Yes. My plan is to eventually have my entire Pirate collection in SGC slabs. To me, they look best in those.
Absolutely fantastic pick ups. You’re REALLY closing the gap on that complete set. What an awesome deal. I’m happy for you my friend. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks Steve. I hope you have a great weekend.
@@MidLifeCards thank you sir

I love that Baugh cards. We will continue to wonder why vintage football is so cheap.
Incredible pickups, congrats. Really like the Pirates cards, those 19th century cards are beautiful.
Thanks Orlando. I agree. Those early Duke and Allen and Ginter cards are some of the very best ever.
This is awesome stuff. So cool when you can get stuff that you really want that never shows up just on eBay. Congrats! ❤
Thanks buddy.
Some great pickups Graig, that 51 Baugh is a beauty!
Congrats!
Thanks so much.
Sweet pickups, Graig! Cheers to your Captain Morgan

Ironically, I've currently run my card account to ZERO.
@MidLifeCards Mine is too! I think I might have 20 bucks in there!

Love the Pirates set. Been looking for a Blackbeard myself. Congratulations.
It's a tough one to find. No doubt.

Thanks so much. Dr. Beckett could not have been more kind in our time together. He's a great guy.
@@MidLifeCards yes. I listen to his podcast all the time. I learn more than just about cards.
Gave a video like. Great you got some more Pirate cards. Awesome Sammy Baugh! Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much. It was a fun month.
Hi Graig. Awesome pickups my friend. Thanks for sharing pal, talk soon.
Thanks bud.

Hi Graig! Cool pick ups! 😃. - Heather
Thanks so much!! Appreciate it.
Those pickups are beautiful
Thanks so much. I'm really happy with the month's pickups!!
@@MidLifeCards I’m gonna add some of my pick ups to your list 👍
Good video! I also enjoyed your videos with Dr. Beckett...
Thanks!!
Sammmy card is just beautiful

LOL. Thanks Adam. I appreciate it.
I was watching the 5 pirate cards that sold on Probstein recently. I was hoping you needed at least 1. Fun month Graig.
Thanks. I needed 3 of them. Won two of them and lost out on one.
Graig, here is a question for your next Q&A: Did you know that SGC upcharges? How many in the hobby know that PSA isn’t the only grader that upcharges?

I do know that PSA upcharges, but the threshold is much higher than PSA.
Yeah I had a card i really wanted but didn't get paid for another week and it was gone. So I agree have some funds put aside to pounce on a great card
When there's one that you really really want, you gotta pounce.

I can't wait to go to Disneyland soon.
Love me some Captain Morgan.
It is quite popular!!
Is there a reason I should be buying Matt manning autos?
No. I buy them because he's a former student of mine and a great guy.
I didn't buy much of anything in August, so I"m just going to submit a photo of my pretty face. I'll even put on a pirate hat for you.
If that's submitted, it'll be included!! Maybe you can submit it with your Josh Gibson card you made!!
ARREEEEEEERRRRGGHH! 🏴☠️
Walk the plank!!

Not sure I could afford the 1/1 Manning...but if anyone sees it, I hope they'll let me know.
